CbCOR15, A Cold-Regulated Gene from Alpine Chorispora bungeana, Confers Cold Tolerance in Transgenic Tobacco

        Jing Si,Jian-hui Wang,Li-jing Zhang,Hua Zhang,Ya-jie Liu,Li-zhe An 한국식물학회 2009 Journal of Plant Biology Vol.52 No.6

Rapid amplification of cDNA ends was performed to isolate cold-regulated CbCOR15 (EF208112) from Chorispora bungeana. This alpine species is distributed in subnival areas. Transcripts were detected in the leaves, but not the roots, of plants acclimated to cold temperatures. Expression was induced at high levels at both 4°C and −4°C. In comparing its deduced protein sequence to that of AtCOR15a (cold-regulated 15a in Arabidopsis thaliana), the N terminus had less homology than the C terminus while still containing a region analogous to the chloroplast-targeted signal peptide of AtCOR15a. We also introduced CbCOR15, with the CaMV 35S promoter, into tobacco. Second-generation (T1) plants had significantly increased tolerance to chilling, as determined by their electrolyte leakage, chlorophyll content, and relative water content. Further freezing-stress experiments showed that the tolerance of transgenic lines was significantly greater than that of the nontransgenics. Although the degree of chilling and freezing tolerance in the transgenic plants was not directly correlated with the accumulated levels of CbCOR15, we could conclude that this gene confers cold tolerance.

FEM Analysis for Laser Bending Process of DP980 Steel Sheet

Ya Jing Zhang,김종봉,송정한,이근안,이혜진,이낙규 한국정밀공학회 2015 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol. No.

Laser bending of metal sheet is a complex process that is achieved by introducing thermal stress into a metal sheet through irradiationusing a defocused laser beam. In a single scanning process, it is important to know the effects of the engineering parameters on thefinal bending angle, such as the laser power, laser beam diameter, and scanning speed. Furthermore, it is important to investigatethe effect of the scanning direction in a multiple scanning process. In this paper, FEM analyses for a laser bending process of DP980high strength steel sheet under different laser powers, scanning speeds, line energies, and scanning directions are performed toanalyze the effects of the engineering parameters and the scanning direction on the final bending angle. The results indicate that thefinal bending angle of a DP980 steel sheet increases in a linear increase fashion with the increase of the line energy in the singlescanning process; it also increases when the scanning direction is changed time by time in the multiple scanning process.

Structural and photoelectrochemical characterization of TiO2 nanowire/nanotube electrodes by electrochemical etching

        Jing Ya,Li An,Zhifeng Liu,Lei E,Wei Zhao,Dan Zhao,Chengcheng Liu 한국화학공학회 2012 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.29 No.6

TiO2 nanowire/nanotube electrodes were synthesized by anodization of titanium foils in ethylene glycol solution containing 0.5 wt% NH4F and 1 wt% water at 60 V for 6 h. The microstructure and morphology of the asprepared electrodes were investigated by XRD and SEM. A possible formation mechanism and oxidation parameters of nanocomposite structure were discussed. The relationship between structural characteristics of TiO2 nanowire/nanotube electrodes and its photoelectrochemical characterization were evaluated by electrochemical analyzer and photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) solution. Furthermore, these TiO2 nanowire/nanotube electrodes promoted the photoelectrochemical characterization due to the larger surface areas, enhanced light harvesting and electron transport rate. The results show that photocurrent density of 1.44mA/cm2 and photocatalytic degradation of 95.51% was achieved for TiO2 nanowire/nanotube electrodes, which were 0.55mA/cm2 and 20.52% higher than the TiO2 nanotube electrodes under a similar condition, respectively.

Transcriptome profiling identifies immune response genes against porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus and Haemophilus parasuis co-infection in the lungs of piglets

        Jing Zhang,Jing Wang,Xiong Zhang,Chunping Zhao,Sixuan Zhou,Chunlin Du,Ya Tan,Yu Zhang,Kaizhi Shi 대한수의학회 2022 Journal of Veterinary Science Vol.23 No.1

Background: Co-infections of the porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) and the Haemophilus parasuis (HPS) are severe in Chinese pigs, but the immune response genes against co-infected with 2 pathogens in the lungs have not been reported. Objectives: To understand the effect of PRRSV and/or HPS infection on the genes expression associated with lung immune function. Methods: The expression of the immune-related genes was analyzed using RNA-sequencing and bioinformatics. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were detected and identified by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), immunohistochemistry (IHC) and western blotting assays. Results: All experimental pigs showed clinical symptoms and lung lesions. RNA-seq analysis showed that 922 DEGs in co-challenged pigs were more than in the HPS group (709 DEGs) and the PRRSV group (676 DEGs). Eleven DEGs validated by qRT-PCR were consistent with the RNA sequencing results. Eleven common Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathways related to infection and immune were found in single-infected and co-challenged pigs, including autophagy, cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction, and antigen processing and presentation, involving different DEGs. A model of immune response to infection with PRRSV and HPS was predicted among the DEGs in the co-challenged pigs. Dual oxidase 1 (DUOX1) and interleukin-21 (IL21) were detected by IHC and western blot and showed significant differences between the co-challenged pigs and the controls. Conclusions: These findings elucidated the transcriptome changes in the lungs after PRRSV and/or HPS infections, providing ideas for further study to inhibit ROS production and promote pulmonary fibrosis caused by co-challenging with PRRSV and HPS.

      • Comprehensive Expression Analysis Suggests Functional Overlapping of Human FOX Transcription Factors in Cancer

        Zhang, Ya-Li,Sun, Feng-Ting,Zhang, Ze,Chen, Xiao-Xu,Liu, Ai-Xiang,Pan, Jing-Jing,Peng, Fei,Zhou, Shuai,Sun, Li-Jun Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.23

Forkhead-box (FOX) transcription factors comprise a large gene family that contains more than 50 members in man. Extensive studies have revealed that they not only have functions in control of growth and development, but also play important roles in different diseases, especially in cancer. However, biological functions for most of the members in the FOX family remain unknown. In the present study, the expression of 39 FOX genes in 48 kinds of cancer was mined from the Gene Expression Atlas database of European Bioinformatics Institute. The analysis results showed that some FOX genes demonstrate overlapping expression in various cancers, which suggests particular biological functions. The pleiotropic features of the FOX genes make them excellent candidates in efforts aimed to give medical treatment for cancers at the genetic level. The results also indicated that different FOX genes may have the synergy or antagonistics effects in the same cancers. The study provides clues for further functional analysis of FOX genes, especially for the pleiotropic biological functions and crosstalk of FOX genes in human cancers.

      • ABO Blood Group, Epstein-Barr virus Infection and Prognosis of Patients with Non-metastatic Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

        Zhang, Ya-Xiong,Kang, Shi-Yang,Chen, Gang,Fang, Wen-Feng,Wu, Xuan,You, Hua-Jing,He, Da-Cheng,Cao, Ya-Lin,Liang, Wen-Hua,Zhang, Li Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.17

Background: A prior study showed blood type A/AB to be associated with an increased risk of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) compared to subjects with blood type O. However, the relationship between ABO blood groups and prognosis of NPC patients is still questionable. In addition, whether Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection is associated with prognosis of NPC patients with different ABO blood groups is unclear. Materials and Methods: We conducted univariate and multivariable Cox regression analyses based on a consecutive cohort of 1,601 patients to investigate the above issues. Results: There was no significant difference in overall survival (OS) between different ABO blood groups (p=0.629), neither between A vs. non-A blood groups (p=0.895) nor AB vs. non-AB blood group (p=0.309) in univariate analyses and after adjusting for other factors. Interaction tests revealed that high immunoglobulin A against Epstein-Barr virus viral capsid antigen (VcA-IgA) level was associated with a favorable prognosis in male patients with UICC stage II disease who had an A blood type (p=0.008), compared with those with non-A blood type. In addition, male patients with an A blood group with a high blood lymphocyte level showeda tendency towards better survival in UICC stage III (p=0.096). Conclusions: ABO blood group status is not associated with the prognosis of patients with NPC. Additionally, blood group A male NPC patients with high VcA-IgA level or high blood lymphocyte counts might be correlated with a favorable prognosis in UICC stage II or III, respectively.

The Gender-Sensitive Social Risk Factors for Internet Addiction in College Undergraduate Students

        Xia Lin,Jing-yan Gu,Wan-jun Guo,Ya-jing Meng,Hui-yao Wang,Xiao-jing Li,Wei Deng,Lian-sheng Zhao,Xiao-hong Ma,Ming-li Li,Ting Chen,S,K,Cheng,Tao Li 대한신경정신의학회 2021 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.18 No.7

Objective The current study aims to explore precipitating and social risk factors for internet addiction (IA) in university undergraduate students, and to provide evidence for interventions and the early prevention of IA in different genders. Methods Four thousand eight hundred and fifty-eight college sophomores completed an online survey on their internet use-related behaviours and social risk factors. Results We found that more male (8.3%) than female students (5.4%) had moderate and severe IA. The main online activity in the moderate and severe IA groups was online gaming in males and online streaming in females. Roommates engaging in similar internetbased entertainment was a risk factor of IA only for males, while not being in a romantic relationship was a risk factor of IA for females only. Infatuation with the internet before college and adjustment problems for college life were shared risk factors for both genders in the mild and moderate IA groups. Conclusion IA was a common phenomenon in college students with shared and unique precipitating and social risk factors in males and females. The gender-sensitive risk factors for IA warranted earlier and individualized intervention and prevention strategies for IA in this population.

진정아 ( Chen Jing Ya ),고영춘 ( Ko Young Chun ) 국제뇌교육종합대학원 인성교육연구원 2023 인성교육연구 Vol.8 No.1

The purpose of this study was to examine whether university students' adjustment to university life plays a mediating role in the relationship between self-efficacy and character development. To achieve this research objective, university students were selected as the participants, and hierarchical regression analysis, bootstrapping, and Sobel tests were conducted for data analysis. The results of the study are as follows: There was a statistically significant positive correlation between university students' self-efficacy, character development, and adjustment to university life. Self-efficacy significantly influenced both adjustment to university life and character development, and adjustment to university life also had a significant influence on character development. Self-efficacy was found to indirectly influence character development through adjustment to university life. Furthermore, adjustment to university life acted as a mediator in the relationship between self-efficacy and character development for university students. It can be concluded that developing programs to enhance self-efficacy and character development among university students, and providing tailored learning support, psychological counseling, and physical health programs based on individual needs, can improve university students' adjustment to university life and foster their character development.
