EFFECTS OF COOPERATIVE VEHICLE INFRASTRUCTURE SYSTEM ON DRIVER’S VISUAL AND DRIVING PERFORMANCE BASED ON COGNITION PROCESS

        Xuewei Li,Zhenlong Li,Xiaohua Zhao,Jian Rong,Yunlong Zhang 한국자동차공학회 2022 International journal of automotive technology Vol.23 No.5

This study explores the influence of cooperative vehicle infrastructure system (CVIS) on the driver’s visual and driving performance. Taking the work zone as an example, a driving simulation experiment involving 37 drivers has been conducted to collect driver’s eye movement and vehicle running data in the same scenario with and without CVIS information respectively. Next, the nonparametric test and grey relational analysis (GRA) have been used to compare the specific performance and to analyze the correlations among the multi-stage of driver’s information process. The results present that CVIS information has the potential to alleviate the driver’s tension and the difficulty of information perception. Meanwhile, the driver tends to search visual information more actively and complete the lane changing behavior earlier. Further analysis indicates that CVIS information can reduce the influence of mental workload on lane-changing decisions, and enhance the correlation between visual information processing and lane-changing decisions, as well as the effect of decision-making timing on the running state. Therefore, drivers’ speed control ability was improved and the traffic flow was smoother. The findings give an insight into the influence mechanism of the cooperative information on driving performance and provide a direction for a comprehensive assessment of CVIS based on human factors.

Lactobacillus salivarius REN Counteracted Unfavorable 4-Nitroquinoline-1-Oxide-Induced Changes in Colonic Microflora of Rats

        Ming Zhang,Xuewei Qiao,Liang Zhao,Lu Jiang,Fazheng Ren 한국미생물학회 2011 The journal of microbiology Vol.49 No.6

Probiotics and carcinogens both have a significant effect on the microfloral composition of the human intestine. The objective of this study was to investigate the impact of an important carcinogen, 4-Nitroquinoline-1- Oxide on colonic microflora and the efficacy of the probiotic Lactobacillus salivarius REN as an agent of counteracting these effects. Using denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) combined with redundancy analysis, we demonstrated that both 4-Nitroquinoline-1-Oxide and L. salivarius REN significantly altered the bacterial communities of rat colons. A total of 27 bacterial strains were identified as being affected by treatment with 4-Nitroquinoline-1-Oxide or L. salivarius REN using a t-value biplot combined with band sequencing. 4-Nitroquinoline-1-Oxide treatment increased the abundance of two potential pathogens (one Helicobacter strain and one Desulfovibrio strain), as well as reducing the abundance of two potentially beneficial strains (one Ruminococcaceae strain and one Rumen bacteria). The Helicobacter strain was initally detected in carcinogen-treated rat intestinal microflora, but L. salivarius REN treatment effectively suppressed the growth of the Helicobacter strain. These results suggested that L. salivarius REN may be a potential probiotic, efficiently acting against the initial infection with, and the growth of pathogenic bacteria.

A Hydrogel-based First-Aid Tissue Adhesive with Effective Hemostasis and Anti-bacteria for Trauma Emergency Management

        Dongjie Zhang,Li Mei,Yuanping Hao,Bingcheng Yi,Jilin Hu,Danyang Wang,Yaodong Zhao,Zhe Wang,Hailin Huang,Yongzhi Xu,Xuyang Deng,Cong Li,Xuewei Li,Qihui Zhou,Yun Lu 한국생체재료학회 2023 생체재료학회지 Vol.27 No.00

Background Clinical tissue adhesives remain some critical drawbacks for managing emergency injuries, such as inadequate adhesive strength and insufficient anti-infection ability. Herein, a novel, self-healing, and antibacterial carboxymethyl chitosan/polyaldehyde dextran (CMCS/PD) hydrogel is designed as the first-aid tissue adhesive for effective trauma emergency management. Methods We examined the gel-forming time, porosity, self-healing, antibacterial properties, cytotoxicity, adhesive strength, and hemocompatibility. Liver hemorrhage, tail severance, and skin wound infection models of rats are constructed in vivo, respectively. Results Results demonstrate that the CMCS/PD hydrogel has the rapid gel-forming (~ 5 s), good self-healing, and effective antibacterial abilities, and could adhere to tissue firmly (adhesive strength of ~ 10 kPa and burst pressure of 327.5 mmHg) with excellent hemocompatibility and cytocompatibility. This suggests the great prospect of CMCS/ PD hydrogel in acting as a first-aid tissue adhesive for trauma emergency management. The CMCS/PD hydrogel is observed to not only achieve rapid hemostasis for curing liver hemorrhage and tail severance in comparison to commercial hemostatic gel (Surgiflo ®) but also exhibit superior anti-infection for treating acute skin trauma compared with clinical disinfectant gel (Prontosan ®). Conclusions Overall, the CMCS/PD hydrogel offers a promising candidate for first-aid tissue adhesives to manage the trauma emergency. Because of the rapid gel-forming time, it could also be applied as a liquid first-aid bandage for mini-invasive surgical treatment.

      • Long-chain alcohols derived from the microalga Monoraphidium

        Yang, Xuewei,Dai, Xin,Zhang, Rui,Shao, Cong,Geng, Shu,Chen, Guangyi,Liu, Xianhua,Wang, Guangyi Techno-Press 2013 Advances in energy research Vol.1 No.2

This study was to investigate the composition and characteristics of long-chained alcohols extracted from the algal strain Monoraphidium 3s35. The production of biomass was optimized using different cultivation methods. Under the aerated growth condition, this strain yielded up to 37.26% extracts of dry weight and $576mgL^{-1}$ biomass. The major compounds of the extracts are mainly long-chained alcohols (89.24%), with carbon chain length ranging from 12 to 20. Interestingly, or the long-chained alcohols, 3-(2-Methoxyethyl)-1-nonanol, 3,7,11,15-Tetramethyl-2-hexadecen-1-ol and oleyl alcohol accounted for 53.68%, 23.45%, and 12.11%, respectively. Because of their amphipathic nature, these long-chained alcohols have been widely used in bioenergy production and cosmetics industry. Furthermore, Monoraphidium 3s35 produced 9.73% of $C_{17}$ and $C_{20}$ alkanes, which can be used as an important supplement for the petrodiesel-like fuel.

Protein molecular structure, degradation and availability of canola, rapeseed and soybean meals in dairy cattle diets

        Yujia Tian,Xuewei Zhang,Rongcai Huang,PeiqiangYu 아세아·태평양축산학회 2019 Animal Bioscience Vol.32 No.9

Objective: The aims of this study were to reveal the magnitude of the differences in protein structures at a cellular level as well as protein utilization and availability among soybean meal (SBM), canola meal (CM), and rapeseed meal (RSM) as feedstocks in China. Methods: Experiments were designed to compare the three different types of feedstocks in terms of: i) protein chemical profiles; ii) protein fractions partitioned according to Cornell Net Carbohydrate and Protein System; iii) protein molecular structures and protein second structures; iv) special protein compounds-amino acid (AA); v) total digestible protein and energy values; vi) in situ rumen protein degradability and intestinal digestibility. The protein second structures were measured using FT/IR molecular spectroscopy technique. A summary chemical approach in National Research Council (NRC) model was applied to analyze truly digestible protein. Results: The results showed significant differences in both protein nutritional profiles and protein structure parameters in terms of α-helix, β-sheet spectral intensity and their ratio, and amide I, amide II spectral intensity and their ratio among SBM, CM, and RSM. SBM had higher crude protein (CP) and AA content than CM and RSM. For dry matter (DM), SBM, and CM had a higher DM content compared with RSM (p<0.05), whereas no statistical significance was found between SBM and CM (p = 0.28). Effective degradability of CP and DM did not demonstrate significant differences among the three groups (p>0.05). Intestinal digestibility of rumen undegradable protein measured by three-step in vitro method showed that there was significant difference (p = 0.05) among SBM, CM, and RSM, which SBM was the highest and RSM was the lowest with CM in between. NRC modeling results showed that digestible CP content in SBM was significantly higher than that of CM and RSM (p<0.05). Conclusion: This study suggested that SBM and CM contained similar protein value and availability for dairy cattle, while RSM had the lowest protein quality and utilization.

Correlations of Fecal Bacterial Communities with Age and Living Region for the Elderly Living in Bama, Guangxi, China

        Liang Zhao,Xuewei Qiao,Jun Zhu,Xiaoying Zhang,Jingli Jiang,Yanling Hao,Fazheng Ren 한국미생물학회 2011 The journal of microbiology Vol.49 No.2

Bama County (Guangxi, China) is famous for its longevous population. In this study, intestinal microflora of 17 healthy elderly subjects of different ages and from different regions (rural and urban) in Bama, were analyzed by denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE). Significant effects of age and living region on the whole intestinal bacterial communities were observed by redundancy analysis (RDA). A total of 11 bacterial strains that were correlated with age and living region were identified using a t-value biplot combined with band sequencing. Four bacterial strains were correlated with both age and living region of the elderly in Bama. Two Bacteroides strains and one Ruminococcaceae strain were abundant in the rural, younger elderly; conversely, one Desulfovibrio strain was high in the urban, older elderly. Another Bacteroidetes strain was only correlated with the participant’s age, and its abundance increased with the age of the elderly. The richness of one Clostridium sordellii strain, which was only correlated with the elderly living region, was high in the urban elderly. The study also found five other novel bacterial strains that were correlated with the age or living region of the elderly in Bama. These results expand our understanding of age- and region-effects on the intestinal microflora of the elderly and raise the possibility of developing probiotics originating from centenarians.

A Novel Procedure for Protection Setting in an HVDC System Based on Fault Quantities

Gao, Benfeng,Zhang, Ruixue,Zhang, Xuewei The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers 2017 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.12 No.2

HVDC protection setting is difficult to be calculated analytically because of its strong nonlinearity. The currently used setting method is based on the empirical setting of previous projects and then verified by digital simulation. It entails a huge workload and low efficiency. To facilitate protection setting, this paper systematically summarizes the HVDC protection characteristics and then presents a classification of HVDC protections according to the protection principles. On the basis of the fault quantities, a novel setting procedure suitable for travelling wave protection, derivative and level protection, and differential protection is proposed. The proposed procedure is illustrated and verified in detail with the example of travelling wave protection. An HVDC protection setting system that has the functions of automatic protection setting and data management is developed utilizing the C# programming language.

Raman Spectral Band Oscillations in Large Graphene Bubbles

        Huang, Yuan,Wang, Xiao,Zhang, Xu,Chen, Xianjue,Li, Baowen,Wang, Bin,Huang, Ming,Zhu, Chongyang,Zhang, Xuewei,Bacsa, Wolfgang S.,Ding, Feng,Ruoff, Rodney S. American Physical Society 2018 Physical Review Letters Vol.120 No.18

Raman spectra of large graphene bubbles showed size-dependent oscillations in spectral intensity and frequency, which originate from optical standing waves formed in the vicinity of the graphene surface. At a high laser power, local heating can lead to oscillations in the Raman frequency and also create a temperature gradient in the bubble. Based on Raman data, the temperature distribution within the graphene bubble was calculated, and it is shown that the heating effect of the laser is reduced when moving from the center of a bubble to its edge. By studying graphene bubbles, both the thermal conductivity and chemical reactivity of graphene were assessed. When exposed to hydrogen plasma, areas with bubbles are found to be more reactive than flat graphene.

Investigation on Microstructure, Hardness and Wear Resistance of Electron Beam Wire-Feeding Deposited Inconel 718 Alloy Coatings

        Dongheng Xu,Han Wang,Xuewei Tao,Zhengjun Yao,Shasha Zhang,Moliar Oleksander 대한금속·재료학회 2021 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.27 No.5

The Inconel 718 (IN718) alloy coatings were successfully fabricated using electron beam wire-feeding deposition technology. The macrostructure, microstructure and elemental analysis of the deposited coatings were characterized by OM, SEMand EDS. Moreover, the hardness and wear resistance were also investigated experimentally. The results showed that thecross section of the deposited coatings can be divided into three different regions: clad zone (CZ), fusion zone (FZ) and heataffected zone. Equiaxed dendrites appeared in the CZ while columnar dendrites occurred in the FZ, and discrete fine Lavesphase particles were formed under low beam current while continuous coarse Laves phase particles were found under highbeam current. The EDS results showed that the degree of Nb segregation in FZ is higher than that in CZ. More importantly, the microstructure coarsened and the degree of Nb segregation increased with the increase of beam current. The depositedcoating under the lowest beam current (10 mA) has the highest hardness (263 HV0.2) and the minimum specific wear rate(3.95391 × 10−15 m3/Nm), which is corresponding to the fine microstructure, discrete Laves phase particles and low degreeof Nb segregation under low beam current.
