Building a Sustainable Community in Social Low-rent High-rise Housing

        Xueni Peng,Jin Baek 대한건축학회 2015 Architectural research Vol.17 No.4

In 2007, in the city of Chongqing, the city government announced a plan to meet the basic needs of its lower-to-middle class residents, namely those of providing a shelter and urban infrastructure. In one respect, the effort to attain such goals has achieved good quantitative results; however, a more critical examination reveals that little consideration has been given to analyzing the qualitative aspects of such a policy, namely the physical and emotional effects on tenants. The results of the research in this paper have implications on the need to focus on building a ‘sustainable’ and ‘healthy’ community, with the awareness that for people in low-rent areas, sociability and community spirit are more closely related to their neighborhood contentment. Although attention to scale and type of area-planning are both important, the immediate surroundings and services are often neglected, but as we shall show they are key considerations for residents in this new type of housing. While attempting to comprehend the role of community in the quality of a neighborhood, in this research, we attempt to document the physical appearance of the problem and explore its underlying causes in order to shed more light on residents’ individual evaluations of quality in their local living conditions and include the affective dimensions of such perceptions.

Building a Sustainable Community in Social Low-rent High-rise Housing: the Case of the Chongqing Model in China

Peng, Xueni,Baek, Jin Architectural Institute of Korea 2015 Architectural research Vol.17 No.4

Improving the Microbial Production of Amino Acids: From Conventional Approaches to Recent Trends

        Guoqing Zhang,Xueni Ren,Xiuhong Liang,Yaqun Wang,Dexin Feng,Yujun Zhang,Mo Xian,Huibin Zou 한국생물공학회 2021 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.26 No.5

Variable industrial strains have been applied in the fermentation of bulk amino acids. Strain discovery and evolution, process optimization are traditional approaches to improve the yield and efficiency of the bio-production process, hence to compete with chemical or enzymatic process in amino acids production. With the fast development of bioengineering and synthetic biology, the strains can be rationally engineered to achieve better performance and gain the capacity in the fermentation of broader range of amino acids, especially for value-added amino acids. This proposed review aims to summarize traditional and recent strains in the microbial production of amino acids, characterize their metabolic pathways and present potential objectives for rational evolution. In addition, this proposed review prospect the recent opportunities and challenges in the microbial production of value-added amino acids (rare amino acids, non-canonical amino acids, and unnatural amino acids).

      • Research on Body Language Identity Design

Yang yong,Dong Xueni 한국공학안전보건예술학회 2011 한국공학예술학회 논문지 Vol.3 No.-

Body language identity design is a kind of recognizable design through the body language design. Various sporadic-type body languages exist in our lives; and the design-type body language is most represented by AGI application. It has enriched the performance space of visual identification, so that the body language identity design becomes a new identity system.

Evolution of electrical properties and microstructure of polyacrylonitrile-based carbon fibers during carbonization

        Yu Jiyin,Liu Yong,Hua Xueni,Du Weifeng,Ning Chen,Ao Yuhui,Shang Lei 한국탄소학회 2022 Carbon Letters Vol.32 No.7

The evolvement in the microstructure and electrical properties of PAN-based carbon fibers during high-temperature carbonization were investigated. The study showed that as the heat treatment temperature increases, the change of carbon fiber resistivity around 1100 °C can be divided into two stages. In the first stage, the carbon content of the fiber increased rapidly, and small molecules such as nitrogen were gradually released to form a turbostratic of carbon crystal structure. The resistivity dropped rapidly from 3.19 × 10−5 Ω·m to 2.12 × 10−5 Ω·m. In the second stage, the carbon microcrystalline structure gradually became regular, and the electron movement area gradually became larger. At this time, the resistivity further decreases, from 2.12 × 10−5 Ω·m to 1.59 × 10−5 Ω·m. During carbonization, the tensile strength of carbon fiber first increased and then decreased. This is because the irregular and disordered graphite structure is formed first. As the temperature rose, the graphite layer spacing decreased and the grain thickness gradually increases. The modulus also gradually increased.

Catalytic Hydrogenation of Alkali Lignin Into Bio-Oil via Nano-Lamellar MoSe2-Based Composite Catalysts

        Xingwang Zhou,Jia Zhou,Yongwei Yu,Jiangquan Ma,Xueni Sun,Lanmei Hu 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2017 NANO Vol.12 No.10

In this research, a series of catalysts based on MoSe2 were synthesized by the hydrothermal method and used for the catalytic hydrogenation of alkali lignin for the first time. For 4 wt.% NiSe2/MoSe2 catalyst, at 290 ℃, under 2MPa H2 pressure for 1.5 h, the conversion of alkali lignin and the yield of bio-oil reached 96.47% and 93.68%, respectively. In addition, the composition of the product (bio-oil) was analyzed via Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometry, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) spectra, and proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1HNMR) spectra. Finally, our study demonstrated that those MoSe2-based composite catalysts can effectively degrade the biomass into bio-oil containing valuable chemical products.

Synthesis of MoSe2/SrTiO3 Heterostructures with Enhanced Ultraviolet-Light-Driven and Visible-Light-Driven Photocatalytic Properties

        Xingwang Zhou,Jun Yao,Ming Yang,Jiangquan Ma,Qingwei Zhou,Ershen Ou,Zhen Zhang,Xueni Sun 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2018 NANO Vol.13 No.4

In this research, a series of novel MoSe2/SrTiO3 heterostructures were successfully prepared by a two-step hydrothermal method. The samples were characterized by XRD, UV-Vis, SEM, TEM, EDS and XPS. Results showed that the degradation of MO under UV is better than that under the visible light. And, MoSe2 loaded on SrTiO3 under UV irradiation demonstrated a higher catalytic activity. The degradation rate of methyl orange was 99.46% for MoSe2/SrTiO3 under the optimum loading weight (0.1 wt.%). This is mainly because the combination of MoSe2 and SrTiO3 prevents electrons and holes recombination in SrTiO3 and · O2 - appears in the system. In general, MoSe2/SrTiO3 heterostructures have good environmental friendliness for photocatalytic degradation.
