        The objective of present paper is to investigate the engineering properties of concrete using recycling water incorporating saccharic based stabilizing agent in order to improve qualities of concrete in the region of normal strength and high strength. According to test results, fluidity and air content do not exhibit significant difference with an increase in stabilizing agent contents. Bleeding was not observed at 30% of W Ie, regardless of stabilizing agent contents, nonetheless, concrete with stabilizing agent of 0.15% was observed to occur the least bleeding at 40 and 50% of W IC. For setting time, although presence of recycled water accelerates setting time, setting time shows to be retarded gradually with an increase in stabilizing agent content. For compressive strength, use of stabilizing agent enhanced compressive strength of concrete compared with that of concrete without stabilizing agent. In the side of strength enhancement, adequate dosage of stabilizing agent is found to be 0.15%. As dosage of stabilizing agent increased above 0.15%, drying shrinkage exhibited a tendency to decrease.

        Hydrothermal Synthesis and Photocatalytic Performance of Ag Quantum Dots Sensitized Bi4Ti3O12 Nanobelts

        Ag/Bi4Ti3O12 heterostructure with high photocatalytic activity was synthesized via a simple and practical hydrothermal method by using Bi4Ti3O12 nanobelts as substrate materials. The as-prepared Ag/Bi4Ti3O12 heterostructure included Ag quantum dots assembling uniformly on the surface of Bi4Ti3O12 nanobelts. Comparing with pure Bi4Ti3O12 nanobelts, the composite photocatalyst exhibited enhanced photocatalytic activity under visible light irradiation in the decomposition of rhodamine B aqueous solution. The enhancement performance is believed to be induced by the intimate contact interface, where silver quantum dots serve as good electron acceptor for facilitating quick photoexcited electron transfer and thus decreasing electron-hole recombination. It was also found that the photodegradation of rhodamine B molecules is mainly attributed to the oxidation action of the generated O2 radicals.

        Protective mechanism of fdft1 in steroid hormone synthesis pathway in SD rats with acute hypoxic injury

        Background The acute hypoxic injury caused by the plain population entering the plateau in a short period of time hasbecome the main cause of endangering the health of the people who rush into the plateau. Objective The study aimed to identify the key genes which participate in resisting the acute hypoxic injury in SD Rats bytranscriptomic profile analysis. Methods 48 Sprague Dawley (SD) male rats were enrolled and randomly divided into four groups (0h, 24h, 48h, 72h) andhoused in hypobaric hypoxia chamber with altitude 6000m for different periods of time to make them acute hypoxic injury. The transcriptomic profile of the lung tissue of the rats was analysed by RNA second-generation sequencing combined withbioinformatics analysis. Results The results of GO and KEGG function classification analysis revealed that the differential expression genes enrichedin steroid hormone synthesis pathway especially in 48h group compared to F0 group. Further analysis revealed that FarnesylDiphosphate Farnesyl Transferase 1 (fdft1) gene encoding a rate-limiting enzyme in steroid hormone synthesis pathway wassignificant differently expressed between the groups. The expression levels of fdft1 gene were further verified by RT-PCRand Western-blot methods. Conclusions The results suggest that fdft1 gene plays an important role in responding to acute hypoxic injury by regulatingsteroid hormone biosynthesis.

        Morphology Characterization and Mechanism Analysis of the Microstructure of LiNbO3 Crystals Fabricated by Using Focused Ion Beam Milling

        This paper reports the basic results obtained from an investigation of the microstructure of lithium niobate (LiNbO3) crystals fabricated by using the focused ion beam (FIB) sputtering method. The morphology characterization of the microstructure is explained in terms of scanning electron microscopy observations based on the geometrical integrity, surface smoothness, cross-sectional area, aspect ratio, etc. The optimized micro-fabrication conditions and the sample morphology characterization are presented, and the sputtering rate of Ga ions for a 30-keV energy milling of the LiNbO3 crystal is calculated, which is lower than the theoretical one gained from “The Stopping and Range of Ions in Matter” (SRIM) sputtering simulation due to the redeposition effect being enhanced with increasing milling depth

        Screening Education: Schools on Film in the People`s Republic of China

        Like many other national and/or semi-national cinemas today, contemporary Chinese film tends to be youth or teen-driven. Recent years have seen a plethora of youth films produced by Chinese filmmakers working in and outside the official studio system. Nevertheless, school film, i.e. those set on school campuses and focusing on education activities within the campus context, has not received sufficient attention despite its being a most definable subgenre of youth films. This paper aims to trace the development of school films in the People`s Republic of China since the 1950s. It also attempts to discuss some reasons why there has been a shortage of school films being made and why the filmic representation of teacher- and/or student-heroes is often stereotyped in the limited number of school films. The paper concludes with an in-depth study of a more recent school film Thirteen Princess Trees (Lu Yue, 2006), which displays some interesting departures from the existing tradition.

        Barrier Optical Waveguide Fabrication in LiNbO3 Crystal by 4.5-MeV LithiumIon Implantation with Low Dose

        A barrier planar waveguide was fabricated in z-cut LiNbdO3 crystals by 4.5-MeV lithium ion implantation at a dose of 3 £ 1014 ions/cm2 at room temperature. Dark modes were observed by the prism-coupling method with wavelengths of both 633 nm and 1539 nm. The refractive index pro¯les were reconstructed by using the re°ectivity calculation method. There were about 1.1 % and 0.7 % decreases at the optical barriers of the ordinary and extraordinary refractive index at the wavelength at 633 nm, and the positions of the optical barriers were close to those of the damage peaks calculated by the TRIM098 (Transport of Ions in Matter) code. It is found that the refractive index change may be partly due to the damage induced by nuclear collision.

      • Concurrent Task Scheduling and Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling in a Real-Time Embedded System With Energy Harvesting

        <P>Energy harvesting is a promising technique to overcome the limit on energy availability and increase the lifespan of battery-powered embedded systems. In this paper, the question of how one can achieve the prolonged lifespan(1) of a real-time embedded system with energy harvesting capability (RTES-EH) is investigated. The RTES-EH comprises a photovoltaic (PV) panel for energy harvesting, a supercapacitor for energy storage, and a real-time sensor node as the embedded load device. A global controller performs simultaneous optimal operating point tracking for the PV panel, state-of-charge (SoC) management for the supercapacitor, and energy-harvesting-aware real-time task scheduling with dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) for the sensor node, while employing a precise solar irradiance prediction method. The controller employs a cascaded feedback control structure, where an outer supervisory control loop performs real-time task scheduling with DVFS in the sensor node while maintaining the optimal supercapacitor SoC for improved system availability, and an inner control loop tracks the optimal operating point of the PV panel on the fly. Experimental results show that the proposed global controller lowers the task instance drop rate by up to 63% compared with the baseline controller within the same service time (i.e., from sunrise to sunset).</P>

        How formal and informal intercultural contacts in universities influence students’ cultural intelligence?

        Along with rapid globalization, the ability to adapt and excel in an unfamiliar or diverse cultural setting becomes increasingly important. To meet the challenges, universities all over the world are committed to fostering an environment for students to develop their cultural intelligence (CQ). However, besides exchange programs and intercultural training, how students could beneft from day-to-day exposures to the multicultural environment on campus remain to be explored. This research underscores such need by investigating the path efects of formal and informal intercultural contacts to the development of students’ CQ, based on a questionnaire survey in an internationalized university in Hong Kong. The fndings reveal that, compared with formal contacts, intercultural contacts under informal settings such as interest group activities, roommates or hall-mates, sports or other games have greater efects on students’ CQ, especially on motivational and behavioral dimensions. Also, it was found that intergroup anxiety plays a mediating role only on the path from informal contacts to metacognitive CQ. The implications for university leaders and educators are further discussed in the article.
