• Active Disturbance Rejection Control for Precise Position Tracking of Ionic Polymer–Metal Composite Actuators

        Hai-Long Xing,Jin-Han Jeon,Park, K. C.,Il-Kwon Oh IEEE 2013 IEEE/ASME transactions on mechatronics Vol.18 No.1

Active disturbance rejection control method that can actively compensate nonlinear model uncertainties and unpredictable external disturbances is proposed for an accurate position tracking of an ionic polymer-metal composite actuator. An empirical model of the electroactive polymer actuator is constructed by fitting the step response of the actuator. Experimental results show that the present active disturbance rejection control scheme can substantially improve the control performance in the tracking of various reference motions including step, sinusoidal, trapezoidal, and sawtooth wave profiles. The proposed scheme offers an innovative solution for the position tracking of an ionic polymer-metal composite actuator with highly nonlinear dynamics.

The Study of Pilot Process of Separation and Purification of Catechin Using Wood Fiber Resin

        Xing-hai Zhang,Jin-wei Xu,Yue-fei Wang,Yin Gao,You-ying Tu 한국차학회 2015 한국차학회지 Vol.- No.S

This paper studies the pilot production of tea polyphenol (TP) from membrane filtered tea extract using wood fiber resin. We extract, isolate and purify TP using ultrasonic wave extraction, ultrafiltration membrane and wood fiber resin column chromatography techniques. We then use high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) to filter optimal parameters and get the final product using spray drying method. The results show that after above process the content of caffeine, EGCg and catechin in 40% eluent is 0.607%, 60.7%, 86.95% separately and the low caffeine high catechin procuct yield rate is 7.0%. While in 10% eluent the content of caffeine, EGCg and catechin is 26.6%, 16.5%, 23.7% separately, and the high caffeine low catechin product yield rate is 7.3%. So the total summed yield rate is 14.3%. The pilot process may provide reference for future green TP production.

Association of Helicobacter pylori with Elevated Blood Ammonia Levels in Cirrhotic Patients: A Meta-Analysis

        Hai-Xing Jiang,Shan-Yu Qin,Zhi-gang Min,Ming-Zhi Xie,Tao Lin,Bang-Li Hu,Xiao-Yun Guo 연세대학교의과대학 2013 Yonsei medical journal Vol.54 No.4

Purpose: The association between Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) and blood ammonia levels in cirrhotic patients is controversial. We aimed to clarify this controvercy by performing a meta-analysis of published studies. Materials and Methods:We searched PubMed, EMBASE and Cochrane library for studies which explored the association between H. pylori and blood ammonia levels in cirrhotic patients before May 2012. Six cohort studies involved in 632 H. pylori positive and 396 H. pylori negative cirrhotic patients were eligible for our analysis. The summary estimates were presented as standard means differences (SMD) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) from individual studies. Results: Overall, there was significant association between H. pylori infection and the elevated blood ammonia levels in cirrhotic patients (SMD=0.34, 95% CI=0.21-0.47, I2=42.1%). Sensitivity analysis further confirmed this association. Subgroup analysis showed that the association was found only in Asian ethnicity, but not in Caucasian ethnicity. Conclusion:H. pylori infection is associated with elevated blood ammonia levels in cirrhotic patients, and more large scale studies and stratify analysis are warranted in order to further evaluate this association.

      • P194 : Expression pattern and role of klotho in human hair follicles

( Xing Hai Jin ),( Long Quan Pi ),( Sungjoo Tommy Hwang ),( Won Soo Lee ) 대한피부과학회 2013 대한피부과학회 학술발표대회집 Vol.65 No.2

Background: Klotho is a newly identified anti-aging protein that plays a pivotal role in regulating ageing. However, whether klotho expresses in human hair follicles (HFs) and whether klotho expression correlates with hair growth have not yet been clearly shown. Objectives: To find the role of Klotho as a regulatory factor for human hair growth Methods: In this study, we examined the expression pattern of klotho in human scalp skin and its role in hair growth. Klotho was expressed in human scalp skin and HF both gene and protein levels. Results: In human scalp skin, prominent klotho expression was observed in the epidermis. Klotho expression in the epidermis was increased with keratinization from basal layer to stratrum coneaum. In human anagen HFs, prominent klotho expression was observed in the epithelium. Klotho expression in the epithelium was increased with keratinization in henle layer and hair cuticle. In human catagen HFs, klotho expression was observed in epithelial strand. Gene transfection of klotho siRNA was markedly inhibited the human hair growth and promoted apoptosis process in organ cultured human follicles. Conclusion: Altogether, these results indicate that klotho might be an important regulatory factor for human hair growth and hair cycle change.

Expression Pattern and Role of Klotho in Human Hair Follicles

        ( Xing-hai Jin ),( Long-quan Pi ),( Won-soo Lee ) 대한피부과학회 2019 Annals of Dermatology Vol.31 No.5

Background: Klotho protein plays a pivotal role in aging regulation. However, it is unclear whether klotho is expressed in human hair follicles and is correlated with hair growth. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the expression pattern and role of klotho in human hair follicles. Methods: We examined the klotho expression patterns in human hair follicles from young and aged donors. Furthermore, we examined the functional roles of klotho on human hair growth using klotho siRNA and klotho recombinant protein. Results: Interestingly, klotho was expressed in human hair follicles at both gene and protein levels. In hair follicles, prominent klotho expression was mainly observed in the outermost regions of the outer root sheath and hair bulb matrix cells. Quantification of klotho protein expression in young and aged donors showed that klotho expression decreased with aging. In human hair follicle organ culture, klotho silencing promoted premature catagen induction and inhibited human hair growth. Otherwise, klotho protein prolonged human hair growth. Conclusion: These results indicate that klotho might be an important regulatory factor for human hair growth and hair cycle change. (Ann Dermatol 31(5) 511∼517, 2019)

Linear Extended State Observer Based Sliding Mode Disturbance Decoupling Control for Nonlinear Multivariable Systems with Uncertainty

        Hai-Long Xing,Dong-Hai Li,Juan Li,Cai-Hong Zhang 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2016 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.14 No.4

In this paper, the sliding mode dynamic disturbance decoupling tracking control method based on thelinear extended state observer (LESO) is proposed for a class of square multivariable nonlinear uncertain system. The model plant contains the known linear dynamics, the unknown nonlinear dynamics and the internal and externaldisturbances, and the various input-output pairs are interacted. The system states are not available for measurement. An improved LESO is developed. The leading feature which is different from the typical ESO lies in that itsextended state does not contain the known linear dynamics. The improved LESO can guarantee the error variablesto be uniformly ultimately bounded with respect to a ball whose radius is a function of design parameters. So thisball radius can be arbitrarily as small as desired by tuning design parameters. And we give a simple method by whichthe gain parameters of LESO can be computed easily. This estimation to the total disturbance of the original systemis introduced into the sliding mode control design to complete disturbance rejection and decoupling. Rigorousstability analysis shows that the system output can track the desired signal closely. Finally, a class of mass–spring–damper system is taken to make the numerical simulation analysis to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposedcontrol method.

Prevalence of Toxoplasma gondii in Dogs in Zhanjiang, Southern China

        Hai-Hai Jiang,Ming-Wei Li,Min-Jun Xu,Wei Cong,Xing-Quan Zhu 대한기생충학열대의학회 2015 The Korean Journal of Parasitology Vol.53 No.4

Toxoplasmosis, caused by Toxoplasma gondii, is a parasitic zoonosis with worldwide distribution. The present study investigated the prevalence of T. gondii in dogs in Zhanjiang city, southern China, using both serological and molecular detection. A total of 364 serum samples and 432 liver tissue samples were collected from the slaughter house between December 2012 and January 2013 and were examined for T. gondii IgG antibody by ELISA and T. gondii DNA by semi-nested PCR based on B1 gene, respectively. The overall seroprevalence of T. gondii IgG antibody was 51.9%, and T. gondii DNA was detected in 37 of 432 (8.6%) liver tissue samples. These positive DNA samples were analyzed by PCRRFLP at 3- and 5-SAG2. Only 8 samples gave the PCR-RFLP data, and they were all classified as type I, which may suggest that the T. gondii isolates from dogs in Zhanjiang city may represent type I or type I variant. This study revealed the high prevalence of T. gondii infection in dogs in Zhanjiang city, southern China. Integrated measures should be taken to prevent and control toxoplasmosis in dogs in this area for public health concern.

Robust Control Guaranteeing Uniform Ultimate Boundedness for a Class of Mismatched Uncertain Parabolic Distributed Parameter Systems

        Hai-Long Xing,Dong-Hai Li,Wen-Shan Cui 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2013 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.11 No.4

The robust control problem for a class of mismatched uncertain parabolic distributed parameter systems is studied under conditions of the uncertain terms being norm-bounded. The proposed robust controller can guarantee the system states to be the uniform ultimate boundedness, and their bound can be arbitrarily small. And, the proposed control method is successfully applied to a typical diffusion-reaction process with uncertain terms.

      • Staged Improvement in Awareness of Disease for Elderly Cancer Patients in Southern China

        Li, Xing,Dong, Min,Wen, Jing-Yun,Wei, Li,Ma, Xiao-Kun,Xing, Yan-Fang,Deng, Yun,Chen, Zhan-Hong,Chen, Jie,Ruan, Dan-Yun,Lin, Ze-Xiao,Wang, Tian-Tian,Wu, Dong-Hao,Liu, Xu,Hu, Hai-Tao,Lin, Jia-Yu,Li, Zhu Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.15

Background: In mainland China, awareness of disease of elderly cancer patients largely relies on the patients' families. We developed a staged procedure to improve their awareness of disease. Materials and Methods: Participants were 224 elderly cancer patients from 9 leading hospitals across Southern China. A questionnaire was given to the oncologists in charge of each patient to evaluate the interaction between family and patients, patient awareness of their disease and participation in medical decision-making. After first cycles of treatment, increased information of disease was given to patients with cooperation of the family. Then patient awareness of their disease and participation in medical decision-making was documented. Results: Among the 224 cancer elderly patients, 26 (11.6%) made decisions by themselves and 125 (55.8%) delegated their rights of decision-making to their family. Subordinate family members tended to play a passive role in decision-making significantly. Patients participating more in medical decision-making tended to know more about their disease. However, in contrast to the awareness of disease, patient awareness of violation of medical recommendations was reversely associated with their participation in medical decision-making. Improvement in awareness of diagnosis, stages and prognosis was achieved in about 20% elderly cancer patients. About 5% participated more actively in medical decision-making. Conclusions: Chinese elderly cancer patient awareness of disease and participation in medical decision-making is limited and relies on their family status. The staged procedure we developed to improve patient awareness of disease proved effective.
