      • A Study on the Antecedents and Dependent Variables of Positive Emotion in China Service Market

        The purpose of this research is to examine how Chinese service companies improve the quality of life on the customer side rather than on the corporate side through effective verbal and nonverbal communication. In these relationships, we tried to analyze the moderating role of negative expectancy disconfirmation perceived by customers. A total of 356 samples who had visited the service companies in China were surveyed and 8 hypotheses were tested by empirical analysis using SPSS and AMOS. The results of this research are as follows. First, positive communication of employees in the service company have a positive effect on positive emotions of customers. Second, positive emotions have a positive effect on the overall quality of life of customers as well as corporate level performance. Third, negative expectancy disconfirmation perceived by customers have negative moderating role between the relationship of customers’ positive emotion and employees’ positive verbal communication, and it also has a negative moderating role between customers’ positive emotion and overall quality of life. Based on these results, managers and employees of service companies can induce positive emotion of customers through effective communication. Futhermore, it will be significant for them to lower the level of negative expectancy disconfirmation and improve the quality of the customers’ life rather than the profit of company.

        Helmet CPAP versus Oxygen Therapy in Hypoxemic Acute Respiratory Failure: A Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

        Purpose: The efficacy of helmet continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) in hypoxemic acute respiratory failure (hARF) remainsunclear. The aim of this meta-analysis was to critically review studies that investigated the effect of helmet CPAP on gas exchange,mortality, and intubation rate in comparison with standard oxygen therapy. Materials and Methods: We performed a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) by searching the PubMed, Embase,Cochrane library, OVID, and CBM databases, and the bibliographies of the retrieved articles. Studies that enrolled adults with hARF who were treated with helmet CPAP and measured at least one of the following parameters were included: gas exchange,intubation rate, in-hospital mortality rate. Results: Four studies with 377 subjects met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed. Compared to the standard oxygen therapy, helmet CPAP significantly increased the PaO2/FiO2 [weighted mean difference (WMD)=73.40, 95% confidence interval (95% CI): 43.92 to 102.87, p<0.00001], and decreased the arterial carbon dioxide levels (WMD=-1.92, 95% CI: -3.21 to -0.63, p=0.003), intubationrate [relative risk (RR)=0.21, 95% CI: 0.11 to 0.40, p<0.00001], and in-hospital mortality rate (RR=0.22, 95% CI: 0.09 to 0.50, p=0.0004). Conclusion: The results of this meta-analysis suggest that helmet CPAP improves oxygenation and reduces mortality and intubationrates in hARF. However, the significant clinical and statistical heterogeneity of the literature implies that large RCTs are neededto determine the role of helmet CPAP in different hypoxemic ARF populations.

      • Characterization of Inverter-Grid Interactions Using a Hardware-in-the-Loop System Test-Bed

        Renewable energy, such solar and wind, and other distributed generation (DG) resources are usually connected to the power grid through an inverter. As the penetration level of such inverter-based DG increases, their effects on, and interactions with the grid become an important concern for grid stability and power quality. In addition to the intermittent nature of renewable energy generation, which poses an challenge for system operation and power flow control, dynamics of the inverters have also been found to cause high-frequency stability problems. One particular issue is the harmonic resonance formed between the inverter output impedance and the grid impedance, which presents a system power quality problem and can lead to false tripping of inverters and other devices connected to the grid. This paper describes a hardware-in-the-loop system test-bed that has been developed to study such inverter-grid interactions and other system issues involving DG sources. Design considerations of the test-bed are presented along with its programming and control capabilities. Operation of grid-parallel inverters under different configurations and conditions of the test-bed is measured and their modes of interaction with the simulated grid are investigated. The effects of grid impedance and local loads on the stability and performance of grid-parallel inverters are also presented.

        Japan's Unspoken Currency Manipulation by Monetary Policies: A Chinese Lawyer's Perspective

        During the past few years, the Bank of Japan has injected billions of yen into the economy and pursued a monetary easing policy. Japan has plausible arguments, namely that its current policies are needed to support the growth of the economy and to spur inflation. However, these measures result in a weakened yen and increase trade imbalances between Japan and other Asian countries, particularly China. This article argues that Japan's practice is rooted in protectionism and examines such actions under the IMF Agreement and the WTO system. It is suggested that the Chinese government should adopt diplomatic and judicial approaches to urge Japan to return to normal monetary policies.

        Smooth Formation Navigation of Multiple Mobile Robots for Avoiding Moving Obstacles

        This paper addresses a formation navigation issue for a group of mobile robots passing through an environment with either static or moving obstacles meanwhile keeping a fixed formation shape. Based on Lyapunov function and graph theory, a NN formation control is proposed, which guarantees to maintain a formation if the formation pattern is C<SUP>κ</SUP>, κ≥1. In the process of navigation, the leader can generate a proper trajectory to lead formation and avoid moving obstacles according to the obtained information. An evolutionary computational technique using particle swarm optimization (PSG) is proposed for motion planning so that the formation is kept as C¹ function. The simulation results demonstrate that this algorithm is effective and the experimental studies validate the formation ability of the multiple mobile robots system.

        On Convergence and Parameter Selection of an Improved Particle Swarm Optimization

        This paper proposes an improved particle swarm optimization named PSO with Controllable Random Exploration Velocity (PSO-CREV) behaving an additional exploration behavior. Different from other improvements on PSO, the updating principle of PSO-CREV is constructed in terms of stochastic approximation diagram. Hence a stochastic velocity independent on cognitive and social components of PSO can be added to the updating principle, so that particles have strong exploration ability than those of conventional PSO. The conditions and main behaviors of PSO-CREV are described. Two properties in terms of "divergence before convergence" and "controllable exploration behavior" are presented, which promote the performance of PSO-CREV An experimental method based on a complex test function is proposed by which the proper parameters of PSO-CREV used in practice are figured out, which guarantees the high exploration ability, as well as the convergence rate is concerned. The benchmarks and applications on FCRNN training verify the improvements brought by PSO-CREV.

        Purpose – There are many antecedences and consequences of the positive emotions of customers. The purpose of this research is to examine how Chinese service companies improve not only the positive emotions of customers but also the quality of life through effective verbal and nonverbal communication. Furthermore, we tried to analyze the moderating role of negative expectancy disconfirmation perceived by customers in those causal relationships among the variables. Research design, data, and methodology – The eight hypotheses were proposed and we tested them empirically in this research. Four hypotheses were about the relationship among communication, positive emotion, trust and quality of life. The other four hypotheses were about the moderating effect of negative expectancy disconfirmation in the causal relationships among four variables such as communication, positive emotion, trust and quality of life. A total of 356 samples who had visited the service companies in China were surveyed and 8 hypotheses were tested by empirical analysis using SPSS and AMOS. Results - The results of this research are as follows. First, positive verbal communication and nonverbal communication of employees in the service company have a positive effects on the positive emotions of customers. Second, positive emotion has a positive effect on the overall quality of life on the customer side as well as the trust on the corporate side. Third, negative expectancy disconfirmation perceived by customers has negative moderating effect in the causal relationship between employees' positive verbal communication and customers' positive emotion, and it also has a negative moderating role in the causal relationship between customers' positive emotion and overall quality of life. Conclusions - Based on these results, there can be such implications as follows. First, managers and employees of service companies can induce positive emotion of customers through effective communication. Second, service companies should try to improve not only the corporate-side performance like trust but also the customer-side performance like quality of life. Third, it will be significant for them to lower the level of negative expectancy disconfirmation for the purpose of improving not only the positive emotions of customers but also the quality of customers' life.

        Effect of solution properties on the interaction of 90Sr(II) with GMZ bentonite

        The bentonite from gaomiaozi county (Inner Mongolia, China) (GMZ bentonite) has been selected as the candidate of backfill material in China for nuclear waste repository. Herein, the sorption of 90Sr(II) on GMZ bentonite was investigated as a function of contact time, solid content, pH, ionic strength, foreign ions, humic acid (HA) and temperature. The results indicated that the sorption of 90Sr(II) was mainly dominated by ion exchange or outer-sphere surface complexation at low pH, whereas inner-sphere surface complexation was the main sorption mechanism at high pH values. The thermodynamic parameters (ΔH0, ΔS0 and ΔG0) calculated from the temperature-dependent sorption isotherms indicated that the sorption of 90Sr(II) on GMZ bentonite was an endothermic and spontaneous process. The results provided important information for the interaction mechanism of 90Sr(II) with GMZ bentonite, and is crucial for the evaluation of GMZ bentonite as backfill material.

        The Stability, and Efficacy Against Penicillin-Resistant Enterococcus faecium, of the Plectasin Peptide Efficiently Produced by Escherichia coli

        Plectasin, the first defensin extracted from a fungus (the saprophytic ascomycetePseudoplectania nigrella), is attractive as a prospective antimicrobial agent. The purpose of this study was to establish a bacterium-based production system and evaluate the antimicrobial activity of the resulting plectasin. A gene encoding plectasin, with the codon preference ofEscherichia coli, was optimized based on its amino acid sequence, synthesized using genesplicing with overlap extension PCR, and inserted into the expression vector pGEX-4T-1. The fusion protein was expressed in the soluble fraction of E. coli and purified using glutathione Stransferaseaffinity chromatography. Plectasin was cleaved from the fusion protein with thrombin and purified by ultrafiltration. The purified plectasin showed strong, concentrationdependent antimicrobial activity against gram-positive bacteria, including antibiotic-resistant bacteria, especially penicillin-resistant Enterococcus faecium. This antimicrobial activity wasequal to chemically synthesized plectasin and was maintained over a wide range of pH and temperatures. This soluble recombinant expression system in E. coli is effective for producing plectasin at a relatively lower cost, and higher purity and efficiency than prior systems, and might provide a foundation for developing a large-scale production system. Overall, plectasin shows potential as a novel, high-performance, and safe antibiotic for the treatment of refractory diseases caused by drug-resistant bacterial strains.
