        ‘불량청년’: 신중국 오락물의 초상―1988년 왕숴 원작 영화를 중심으로

        Since the 1980s, Chinese films have had more characteristics of cultural products than of propaganda due to the socio-political changes and the crisis in the film industry. In an effort to bring the film industry out of the crisis, the Chinese government had made a policy aimed at expanding the production of well-made entertaining films. In addition, the Chinese film industry had also produced films that were aimed at the preferences of the younger viewers, instead of older viewers with historical homogeneity about the past. Thus, at this point, where the government’s policy and the preferences of young viewers converged, four films stood out. These films were adapted from the novels of Wang Shuo, a writer who was received with great enthusiasm by younger people. The simultaneous adaption of Wang Shuo’s four novels into films featured young heroes that emerged as a cultural phenomenon in 1988. These young heroes in films also became a target of harsh criticism. However, contrary to appearance, three of the four films featured young offenders who delivered didactic stories, consequently emphasizing on the law and order, which seemed like the stories of enlightened young heroes in the films by the fifth generation directors. Only one film of these four films, namely 〈Wanzhu〉 showed independent and autonomous young characters by providing care for people. In this regard, 〈Wanzhu〉 suggested a direction for the young generation to become new citizens in the late 80s, when they were mired in political lethargy. This kind of film has provided a space for entertaining Chinese films between the mainstream melody films and Hollywood blockbusters after China had entered the World Trade Organization.

        Global Small Solutions of the Cauchy Problem for Nonisotropic Schrödinger Equations

        In this paper we study the existence of global small solutions of the Cauchy problem for the non-isotropically perturbed nonlinear Schr$\"{o}$dinger equation: $iu_t\;+\;{\Delta}u\;+\;{\mid}u{\mid}^{\alpha}u\;+\;a{\Sigma}_i^d\;u_{x_ix_ix_ix_i}$ = 0, where a is real constant, 1 $\leq$ d < n is a integer is a positive constant, and x = $(x_1,x_2,\cdots,x_n)\;\in\;R^n$. For some admissible ${\alpha}$ we show the existence of global(almost global) solutions and we calculate the regularity of those solutions.

        Predicting Barrett's Esophagus in Families: An Esophagus Translational Research Network (BETRNet) Model Fitting Clinical Data to a Familial Paradigm

        <P><B>Background:</B> Barrett's esophagus is often asymptomatic and only a small portion of Barrett's esophagus patients are currently diagnosed and under surveillance. Therefore, it is important to develop risk prediction models to identify high-risk individuals with Barrett's esophagus. Familial aggregation of Barrett's esophagus and esophageal adenocarcinoma, and the increased risk of esophageal adenocarcinoma for individuals with a family history, raise the necessity of including genetic factors in the prediction model. Methods to determine risk prediction models using both risk covariates and ascertained family data are not well developed.</P><P><B>Methods:</B> We developed a Barrett's Esophagus Translational Research Network (BETRNet) risk prediction model from 787 singly ascertained Barrett's esophagus pedigrees and 92 multiplex Barrett's esophagus pedigrees, fitting a multivariate logistic model that incorporates family history and clinical risk factors. The eight risk factors, age, sex, education level, parental status, smoking, heartburn frequency, regurgitation frequency, and use of acid suppressant, were included in the model. The prediction accuracy was evaluated on the training dataset and an independent validation dataset of 643 multiplex Barrett's esophagus pedigrees.</P><P><B>Results:</B> Our results indicate family information helps to predict Barrett's esophagus risk, and predicting in families improves both prediction calibration and discrimination accuracy.</P><P><B>Conclusions:</B> Our model can predict Barrett's esophagus risk for anyone with family members known to have, or not have, had Barrett's esophagus. It can predict risk for unrelated individuals without knowing any relatives' information.</P><P><B>Impact:</B> Our prediction model will shed light on effectively identifying high-risk individuals for Barrett's esophagus screening and surveillance, consequently allowing intervention at an early stage, and reducing mortality from esophageal adenocarcinoma. <I>Cancer Epidemiol Biomarkers Prev; 25(5); 727–35. ©2016 AACR</I>.</P>

        Effects of temperature on the local fracture toughness behavior of Chinese SA508-III welded joint

        The structural integrity of welded joints in the reactor pressure vessel (RPV) is directly related to the safety of nuclear power plants. The RPV is made from SA508-III steel in a pressurized water reactor. In this study, we investigated the effects of temperature on the tensile and fracture toughness properties of Chinese SA508-III welded joint in different sampling areas in order to provide reference data for structural integrity assessments of RPVs. The specimens used in tensile and fracture toughness tests were fabricated from the base metal (BM), weld metal (WM), and the heat-affected zone (HAZ) in the welded joint. The representative testing temperatures included the ambient temperature (20 C), upper shelf temperature (100 C), and service temperature (320 C). The results showed that temperature greatly affected the fracture toughness (JIC) values for the SA508-III welded joint. The JIC values for BM and HAZ both decreased remarkably from 20 C to 320 C. The fracture morphologies showed that the BM and HAZ in the welded joint exhibited fully ductile fracture at 20 C, whereas partial cleavage fracture was mixed in ductile fracture mode at 100 C and 320 C. The WM exhibited the ductile and cleavage fracture mixed mode at various temperatures, and the JIC values showed slight changes

        불가해한 아이와 계층론의 투영 - 2010년대 다문화 청소년의 재현 방식 -

        This thesis was written to investigate second-generation youths from multicultural families, who have not been well covered in novels and related studies. There are three short stories by Korean writers that feature teenagers from multicultural families: Kim Ae-ran’s “Covering Hands,” Kang Hwa-gil “Son(손),” and Kim Kyung-wook’s “Introduction to Horse Racing.” All three authors used the same method of a detective fiction to write with a third-person Korean speaker narrative. These teenagers are all portrayed as mysterious characters. They used the strategy of “the narrator who cannot be trusted” to dispel the prejudice against youths from multicultural families and to betray the reader’s stereotyped notions, who leans toward the narrator during the reading process. This reveal shocks the reader and leads to a moment of self-reflection. Through the process, the essence of the social plight that multicultural youths face today is highlighted. When the teenagers are faithfully depicted in language and appearance, they are easily regarded as disgusting beings and encounter deliberately indifferent attitudes. When a Korean child speaks fluent Korean and looks like a typical Korean child, the form of violence inflicted becomes more secretive and anonymous. In addition, violence transcends time and space, moving back and forth between the real and virtual worlds. In fact, the violence and hatred faced by these teenagers are rooted in the conflicts and structures of Korean society.

        중·한 소설에 나타난 여성적 시선의 ‘자리’와 예외의 ‘노라’ -장아이링의 「금쇄기」와 오정희의 「바람의 넋」을 중심으로

        이 논문은 장아이링 「금쇄기(金鎖記)」와 오정희의 「바람의 넋」을 대상으로 중·한 여성작가의 여성주체 형성의 방식을 탐구해 보고자 하였다. 두 작가는 시선의 권력을 장악하는 것을 통하여 주체로 거듭나고자 하였다. 시선의 이동은 권력의 ‘장소’적 이동으로 볼 수 있다. 이것은 근대 지식인들이 담론으로 만들었던 노라의 공간적인 이동과 이질적이다. 장아이링 「금쇄기」에 등장하는 치챠오는 끊임없이 욕망의 환상을 제거하고 자신이 대타자가 되는 방식으로 시선의 주인공이 되고 주체로 거듭난다. 그러나 전란이라는 현실과 가부장제의 전통이 여성이 주체가 되는 것을 간과하고 있지 않으므로 치챠오는 주체로 되는 과정에 가족이 제물로 바쳐지고 자신도 환멸에 이른다. 오정희의 「바람의 넋」 주인공 은수도 비판적인 여성주체로 그려지지만 비극의 결말로 끝 난 「금쇄기」와는 달리 대안의 서사를 보여주고 있다. 왜냐하면 은수가 던진 시선은 어디까지나 자아를 향한 것이기 때문이다. 가출이라는 행동을 통하여 실존적인 모습을 찾아가는 과정에서 그녀는 자신에게 투여되는 남성적 시선을 인지하면서 이것을 주도적으로 이용한다. 장아이링이 보여준 시선의 권력 이동과 오정희의 소설에서 등장하는 가출의 서사는 여성의 위치 이동 모티브와 연결되면서 ‘노라’ 모티브와 겹친다. 장아이링은 횡적으로 이동한 것이 아니라 종적인 방향 ‘윗층’으로 이동하여 기존의 노라 모티브에 ‘예외’를 낳았고 오정희의 은수는 집은 나갔지만 ‘혁명의 천사’가 되지 않는 것을 통하여 기존 모티브의 결말에 균열을 낸다. 그녀들의 주인공은 남성중심주의 문학의 틀 속에서 주체적인 여성 주인공을 탄생시켰다. 동시에 소설의 줄거리는 남성서사에 의해 전형화 된 ‘가출한 노라’의 서사를 전복시키면서 그녀들의 작품은 남성서사에 이중의 전복을 가져다준다. This paper examines the representation of the formation of the female subject in the works of two East Asian female authors, Eileen Chang’s “Golden Cangue” and Junghee Oh’s “Wind’s Soul.” In both novels, the women protagonists seek to attain subjectivity by means of their acquired power of the gaze. The movement of gaze can be seen as the movement of the “Locus” of power. This is different from the general ‘space’ movement of Nora’s discourse constructed by modern intellectuals. For Qiqiao in “Golden Cangue,” the path to subjectivity involves her assuming the position of an agency of the gaze through an incessant traversing of the fantasy of desire and becoming the big Other. Qiqiao’s attempts to become a subject, however, run against the reality of a war-stricken society and the repression by the patriarchal tradition, and the resultant sacrifice of her family leads to her demise and final disillusionment. Eunsu in “Wind’s Soul” is also portrayed as a critical female subject, but her gaze is directed solely toward herself and thus her narrative deviates from the tragic conclusion of “Golden Cangue.” In her existential quest for the self, Eunsu leaves home and rises above the male gaze of which she is constantly cognizant by actively deploying it to her advantage. The transference of the power of the gaze in Chang’s novelette and the narrative of leaving home in Oh’s overlap with each other in their common focus on the shift in the position of women within society, the Ibsenian Nora-motif. The two authors’ protagonists, however, deviate from the established motif in significant ways: Qiqiao’s movement upwards ― upstairs ― is an exception vis-a-vis the horizontal movement of the Ibsenian motif; Eunsu’s departure from home does not result in her joining the vanguard of a revolution, hence her divergence from the desired effect of the established motif. The two authors, I argue, have forged a new vision for the female subjectivity that breaks from the androcentric body of literature. At the same time, the plots of the two novels displace the established and neutralized Ibsenian motif of a woman leaving her home, hence a double blow to the androcentric narrative.

        An Efficient Catalyst for Restoration of Large Volume Effluent Containing 4-Nitrophenol at Room Temperature

        An efficient and stable catalyst was prepared utilizing reduced graphene oxide, Ag nanoparticles and melamine sponge for the restoration of large volume effluent containing 4-nitrophenol at room temperature. And the as-prepared sample is suitable for continuous flow system. Almost 99% 4-nitrophenol (1.0 x 10 -4 mol L -1, 100 mL) can be removed within 4 min in the presence of the aforementioned sample. Moreover, it also exhibits remarkable stability in continuous flow system. This may offer a new route to the fabrication of efficient flowing catalytic system.

        miR-31a-5p promotes postnatal cardiomyocyte proliferation by targeting RhoBTB1

        A limited number of microRNAs (miRNAs, miRs) have been reported to control postnatal cardiomyocyte proliferation, but their strong regulatory effects suggest a possible therapeutic approach to stimulate regenerative capacity in the diseased myocardium. This study aimed to investigate the miRNAs responsible for postnatal cardiomyocyte proliferation and their downstream targets. Here, we compared miRNA profiles in cardiomyocytes between postnatal day 0 (P0) and day 10 (P10) using miRNA arrays, and found that 21 miRNAs were upregulated at P10, whereas 11 were downregulated. Among them, miR-31a-5p was identified as being able to promote cardiomyocyte proliferation as determined by proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) expression, double immunofluorescent labeling for α-actinin and 5-ethynyl-2-deoxyuridine (EdU) or Ki-67, and cell number counting, whereas miR-31a-5p inhibition could reduce their levels. RhoBTB1 was identified as a target gene of miR-31a-5p, mediating the regulatory effect of miR-31a-5p in cardiomyocyte proliferation. Importantly, neonatal rats injected with a miR-31a-5p antagomir at day 0 for three consecutive days exhibited reduced expression of markers of cardiomyocyte proliferation including PCNA expression and double immunofluorescent labeling for α-actinin and EdU, Ki-67 or phospho-histone-H3. In conclusion, miR-31a-5p controls postnatal cardiomyocyte proliferation by targeting RhoBTB1, and increasing miR-31a-5p level might be a novel therapeutic strategy for enhancing cardiac reparative processes.

        Inhibition of acetylation of histones 3 and 4 attenuates aortic valve calcification

        Aortic valve calcification develops in patients with chronic kidney disease who have calcium and phosphate metabolic disorders and poor prognoses. There is no effective treatment except valve replacement. However, metabolic disorders put patients at high risk for surgery. Increased acetylation of histones 3 and 4 is present in interstitial cells from human calcific aortic valves, but whether it is involved in aortic valve calcification has not been studied. In this study, we found that treating cultured porcine aortic valve interstitial cells with a high-calcium/high-phosphate medium induced calcium deposition, apoptosis, and expression of osteogenic marker genes, producing a phenotype resembling valve calcification in vivo. These phenotypic changes were attenuated by the histone acetyltransferase inhibitor C646. C646 treatment increased the levels of class I histone deacetylase members and decreased the acetylation of histones 3 and 4 induced by the high-calcium/high-phosphate treatment. Conversely, the histone deacetylase inhibitor suberoylanilide hydroxamic acid promoted valve interstitial cell calcification. In a mouse model of aortic valve calcification induced by adenine and vitamin D treatment, the levels of acetylated histones 3 and 4 were increased in the calcified aortic valves. Treatment of the models with C646 attenuated aortic valve calcification by restoring the levels of acetylated histones 3 and 4. These observations suggest that increased acetylation of histones 3 and 4 is part of the pathogenesis of aortic valve calcification associated with calcium and phosphate metabolic disorders. Targeting acetylated histones 3 and 4 may be a potential therapy for inoperable aortic valve calcification in chronic kidney disease patients.
