      • Object Tracking Benchmark

Wu, Yi,Lim, Jongwoo,Yang, Ming-Hsuan IEEE 2015 IEEE transactions on pattern analysis and machine Vol.37 No.9

<P>Object tracking has been one of the most important and active research areas in the field of computer vision. A large number of tracking algorithms have been proposed in recent years with demonstrated success. However, the set of sequences used for evaluation is often not sufficient or is sometimes biased for certain types of algorithms. Many datasets do not have common ground-truth object positions or extents, and this makes comparisons among the reported quantitative results difficult. In addition, the initial conditions or parameters of the evaluated tracking algorithms are not the same, and thus, the quantitative results reported in literature are incomparable or sometimes contradictory. To address these issues, we carry out an extensive evaluation of the state-of-the-art online object-tracking algorithms with various evaluation criteria to understand how these methods perform within the same framework. In this work, we first construct a large dataset with ground-truth object positions and extents for tracking and introduce the sequence attributes for the performance analysis. Second, we integrate most of the publicly available trackers into one code library with uniform input and output formats to facilitate large-scale performance evaluation. Third, we extensively evaluate the performance of 31 algorithms on 100 sequences with different initialization settings. By analyzing the quantitative results, we identify effective approaches for robust tracking and provide potential future research directions in this field.</P>

Cross-Layer Analysis of Wireless TCP/ARQ Systems over Correlated Channels

Wu Yi,Niu Zhisheng,Zheng Junli The Korea Institute of Information and Commucation 2005 Journal of communications and networks Vol.7 No.1

In this paper, we present a cross-layer analysis of wireless TCP systems over correlated channels. The effects of error correlation on the behavior of link retransmission strategy and the end-to-end throughput of TCP layer are investigated. Based on the cross-layer analysis, an efficient refinement of link layer protocol is proposed by consciously utilizing the information of channel correlations, which leads to the performance improvement of wireless TCP systems.

Investigation on complete characteristics and hydraulic transient of centrifugal pump

Wuyi Wan,Wenrui Huang 대한기계학회 2011 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.25 No.10

An improved method was developed to obtain the complete characteristic of centrifugal pump. The conversion formula of complete characteristics is established based on the normal performance curve. An example was presented to illuminate the new method, and the complete characteristic curves of 14SA-10 centrifugal pump were obtained by the new method. The hydraulic transient of the centrifugal pump failure and start-up was simulated by method of characteristics (MOC), which quote the complete characteristics data. The results show that the inversion method is available to obtain the complete pump characteristic curves provided the normal performance curve. For hydraulic transient simulation, more accurate numerical result can be obtained, if the new model is adopted to convert the experimental normal performance curve to complete characteristics curve of centrifugal pump.

A New Dual Hardy-Hilbert's Inequality with some Parameters and its Reverse

Zhong, Wuyi Department of Mathematics 2009 Kyungpook mathematical journal Vol.49 No.3

By using the improved Euler-Maclaurin summation formula and estimating the weight coefficients in this paper, a new dual Hardy-Hilbert's inequality and its reverse form are obtained, which are all with two pairs of conjugate exponents (p, q); (r, s) and a independent parameter ${\lambda}$. In addition, some equivalent forms of the inequalities are considered. We also prove that the constant factors in the new inequalities are all the best possible. As a particular case of our results, we obtain the reverse form of a famous Hardy-Hilbert's inequality.

Energy-Saving Strategy for Green Cognitive Radio Networks with an LTE-Advanced Structure

Shunfu Jin,Xiaotong Ma,Wuyi Yue 한국통신학회 2016 Journal of communications and networks Vol.18 No.4

A green cognitive radio network (CRN), characterizedby base stations (BSs) that conserve energy during sleep periods,is a promising candidate for realizing more efficient spectrum allocation. To improve the spectrum efficiency and achieve greenercommunication in wireless applications, we consider CRNs withan long term evolution advanced (LTE-A) structure and proposea novel energy-saving strategy. By establishing a type of preemptivepriority queueing model with a single vacation, we capture thestochastic behavior of the proposed strategy. Using the method ofmatrix geometric solutions, we derive the performance measuresin terms of the average latency of secondary user (SU) packets andthe energy-saving degree of BSs. Furthermore, we provide numericalresults to demonstrate the influence of the sleeping parameteron the system performance. Finally, we compare the Nash equilibriumbehavior and social optimization behavior of the proposedstrategy to present a pricing policy for SU packets.

A Novel Spectrum Access Strategy with α-Retry Policy in Cognitive Radio Networks: A Queueing-Based Analysis

Yuan Zhao,Shunfu Jin,Wuyi Yue 한국통신학회 2014 Journal of communications and networks Vol.16 No.2

In cognitive radio networks, the packet transmissions ofthe secondary users (SUs) can be interrupted randomly by the primaryusers (PUs). That is to say, the PU packets have preemptivepriority over the SU packets. In order to enhance the quality ofservice (QoS) for the SUs, we propose a spectrum access strategywith an -Retry policy. A buffer is deployed for the SU packets. Aninterrupted SU packet will return to the buffer with probabilityfor later retrial, or leave the system with probability (1 − ). Formathematical analysis, we build a preemptive priority queue andmodel the spectrum access strategy with an -Retry policy as atwo-dimensional discrete-timeMarkov chain (DTMC).We give thetransition probability matrix of the Markov chain and obtain thesteady-state distribution. Accordingly, we derive the formulas forthe blocked rate, the forced dropping rate, the throughput and theaverage delay of the SU packets. With numerical results, we showthe influence of the retrial probability for the strategy proposed inthis paper on different performancemeasures. Finally, based on thetrade-off between different performance measures, we construct acost function and optimize the retrial probabilities with respect todifferent system parameters by employing an iterative algorithm.

A Novel Spectrum Access Strategy with ${\alpha}$-Retry Policy in Cognitive Radio Networks: A Queueing-Based Analysis

In order to enhance the quality of service (QoS) for the SUs, we propose a spectrum access strategy with an ${\alpha}$-Retry policy. A buffer is deployed for the SU packets. For mathematical analysis, we build a preemptive priority queue and model the spectrum access strategy with an ${\alpha}$-Retry policy as a two-dimensional discrete-time Markov chain (DTMC).We give the transition probability matrix of the Markov chain and obtain the steady-state distribution. ROCK1 induces dopaminergic nerve cell apoptosis via the activation of Drp1-mediated aberrant mitochondrial fission in Parkinson’s disease

        Qian Zhang,Changpeng Hu,Jingbin Huang,Wuyi Liu,Wenjing Lai,Faning Leng,Qin Tang,Yali Liu,Qing Wang,Min Zhou,Fangfang Sheng,Guobing Li,Rong Zhang 생화학분자생물학회 2019 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.51 No.-

Dopamine deficiency is mainly caused by apoptosis of dopaminergic nerve cells in the substantia nigra of themidbrain and the striatum and is an important pathologic basis of Parkinson’s disease (PD). Recent research has shownthat dynamin-related protein 1 (Drp1)-mediated aberrant mitochondrial fission plays a crucial role in dopaminergicnerve cell apoptosis. However, the upstream regulatory mechanism remains unclear. Our study showed that Drp1knockdown inhibited aberrant mitochondrial fission and apoptosis. Importantly, we found that ROCK1 was activated inan MPP+-induced PD cell model and that ROCK1 knockdown and the specific ROCK1 activation inhibitor Y-27632blocked Drp1-mediated aberrant mitochondrial fission and apoptosis of dopaminergic nerve cells by suppressing Drp1dephosphorylation/activation. Our in vivo study confirmed that Y-27632 significantly improved symptoms in a PDmouse model by inhibiting Drp1-mediated aberrant mitochondrial fission and apoptosis. Collectively, our findingssuggest an important molecular mechanism of PD pathogenesis involving ROCK1-regulated dopaminergic nerve cellapoptosis via the activation of Drp1-induced aberrant mitochondrial fission.
