Modulus of Subgrade Reaction for Circular Tunnels considering Bedrock and Ground Surface

        Wusheng Zhao,Peiyao Xie,Weizhong Chen,Changkun Qin 대한토목학회 2023 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.27 No.6

The modulus of subgrade reaction is a key parameter used in tunnel design. However, the existing analytical relations for determining the modulus mainly focus on deep tunnels in the homogeneous ground. Therefore, the complex variable method was used to develop analytical solutions for calculating the modulus of subgrade reaction for deep circular tunnels close to bedrock and shallow circular tunnels under uniform and oval deformation patterns. Subsequently, the analytical solutions were validated by comparing them with numerical solutions. At last, parametric studies were conducted to analyze the impacts of the bedrock and ground surface on the modulus of subgrade reaction. The results show that the modulus increases substantially near the bedrock and decreases slightly away from the bedrock, while the ground surface has the opposite effect. In addition, the effects of the bedrock and the ground surface on the radial modulus are more significant than that on the tangential modulus. Furthermore, the results confirm the effect of the tunnel deformation pattern on the modulus of subgrade reaction. The analytical solutions may be used for obtaining the approximate magnitude of the modulus of subgrade reaction in the structure design of shallow tunnels and deep tunnels close to bedrock.

An Application of Smith s Marketing Ethics Sequential System Model to Generation Z Consumers: A Case Study of Hotpot Restaurant Chains in China

Wei RONG,Wusheng ZHOU 한국유통과학회 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.5

This study attempts to discover a differentiated service strategy for the hotpot restaurant industry from the perspective of Chinese Generation Z customers, as well as to further explore the inner needs of Chinese Generation Z to make practical implications for discovering the method of gaining their satisfaction and loyalty. This paper employs questionnaires to collect analytical data and through a case study to produce company strategies. Smith’s Marketing Ethics Sequential System Model (SMESSM) is introduced in this paper for the decision of whether the case study company Haidilao Hot Pot should make a new strategy on service based on Generation Z’s consuming behavior. The findings of this study demonstrate that hotpot restaurant must differentiate their services for Generation Z from older generation customers to gain a sustainable development of the hotpot business. Proper differentiated service will not only improve Generation Z’s dining experience but also reduce costs. This paper is the first to discuss differentiated service strategy in the hotpot restaurant business from the perspective of Generation Z customers. And a Chinese experience of SMESSM for practical use is introduced in this paper, which enriches the relevant implications for future research on business strategy.

Adaptive FNN Backstepping Control for Nonlinear Bilateral Teleoperation With Asymmetric Time Delays and Uncertainties

Hang Li,Wusheng Chou 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2023 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.21 No.9

This paper proposes an adaptive fuzzy neural network backstepping control scheme for bilateral teleoperation systems with asymmetric time delays induced by the communication links and various uncertainties. Specifically, the control scheme adopts a kind of asymmetric structure to design respectively the fuzzy-neuralnetwork adaptive controllers of the master and slave sides. For reducing the convergence time of trajectory error, instead of conventional tracking error signals, the velocity-based parameters is applied in the master side. And the backstepping controller in the slave side effectively avoids the acquisition of acceleration signal for engineering application. Meanwhile, the joint frictions of manipulators and the additive uncertainties of environmental parameters are substituted by the non-power approximate signals of the fuzzy logic algorithms, which copes with the passivity problem of the time-delayed channel. Under ignoring the upper bound information of the external disturbances, the asymptotically stability and trajectory tracking performance of the closed-loop system is analysed by the Lyapunov function. Finally, the experimental tests demonstrate that the closed-loop teleoperation system is stable under asymmetric time delays and possess a better joint position tracking performance than other neural network control schemes.

Heterologous Expression of a Gibberellin 2-Oxidase Gene from Arabidopsis thaliana Enhanced the Photosynthesis Capacity in Brassica napus L.

        Bo Zhou,Dan Peng,Jianzhong Lin,Xingqun Huang,Wusheng Peng,Reqing He,Ming Guo,Dongying Tang,Xiaoying Zhao,Xuanming Liu 한국식물학회 2011 Journal of Plant Biology Vol.54 No.1

Gibberellins (GAs) are endogenous hormones that play an important role in regulating plant stature by increasing cell division and promoting seed germination. The GA2-oxidase gene from Arabidopsis thaliana (AtGA2ox8) was introduced into Brassica napus L. by Agrobacterium-mediated floral-dip transformation with the aim of decreasing the amount of bioactive GA and hence reduced the plant height. As anticipated, the transgenic plant exhibited dwarf phenotype. Importantly, compared with the wild type, the transgenic plants had delayed the seed germination, increased the chlorophyll content (28.7–36.3%) and photosynthesis capacity (14.3–18.7%) in a single leaf. At the same time, the photosynthesis capacity of the whole plants was significantly enhanced (35.7–48.6%) due to the extra leaves and branches.
