In order to know the characteristics and current cultivation situation of horticultural crops, specially fruit crop in Thailand, Java island of Indonesia Kenya, Costa Rica, Ponape island of Micronesia and Hawaii of United States of America are discussed based on review of literatures and statistics collected. 1. In Thailand, fruit and vegetables shared 8.9 and 4.4%, respectively, of the total agricultural product in value in 1976. The largest fruit crop in production was coconut and the most rapidly increasing one was pineapple. 2. In Java island of Indonesia, fruit trees, vegetables, and ornamentals occupy 10.2, 7.6 and 33.4% respectively, of the total 607 species of plants found in home gardens. In 1981, the largest crop in production was coconut and the most rapidly increasing one was citrus. Pineapple, papaya, banana and citrus are grown in both home garden and plantations. Coconut, durian, mangosteen and rambutan are grown only in home gardens.. Salak is grown in plantations. Fruit crops grown in home gardens are difficult to care and selection of dwarf stock is desirable. There are non-seasonal and seasonal fruits. Flowering physiology should be studied to stabilize the production of seasonal fruit. 3. In Kenya, about 17 fruit crops, 23 vegetables and 19 cut flowers and ornamentals are cultivated. Pineapple among fruit crops and tomatoes among vegetables are rising in kenya. Pineapple and cut flowers are rising as export crops. 4. In Costa Rica, banana is the biggest crop in planted area. Pineapple and tomto are rapidly rising. Banana and pineapple are produced in large scale farms and farms middle class. Coconut, citrus, avocado and papaya are cultivated in the farms of middle class. Especially in banana, technical level of cultivation was variable depending on the geographical region and size of farms, and generally high in large farms. 5. On the Ponape island of micronesia, eleven species of citrus and 2 species of Fortunella are grown. Oranges are growing widely from the fallen seeds and in mixture with other fruits. No cultivation cares are applied. However, there is a possibility that transition from home garden style to commercial cultivation may occur as diets and living standard are improved. 6. In Hawaii U.S.A., fruit, vegetables and flowers plus ornamentals share 18, 3 and 4% of total agricultural production in value, respectively. Especially, pineapple, macademia nuts, anthurium, carnation and orchids are important horticultural crops for export.

〈Objective〉 This study were carried out to study to assess the relationship between job characteristics, general characteristics, health behaviors, and psychosocial distress and suggested the preventive oriental medicine approaches in occupational health area. 〈Methods〉 We measured job characteristics(job demand, job control, jop insecurity) by The Karasek's Job Content Questionnaire, health behaviors(smoking, drinking, exercise, coffee), general characteristics at work by a self-administered questionnaire. Psycho social distress was measured by PWI(Psychosocial Well-being Index), a 18-item self- administered instrument. 370 data for research were collected through the process of oriental health examination with questionnaire in workplace. Statistical analysis was done by t test, oneway ANOVA, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis with SPSSWIN (version 10.0) 〈Results〉 Among the 152 respondents, the prevalence of high job strain was 27%(41 persons). The Odds ratio of high job strain was 3.11(95 2.12~4.11), and those of passive group and active group were 2.01(95 0.83~2.76) and 1.80(95 0.83~2.76), respectively. Our results supported the association between psychosocial distress and job strain. 〈Conclusion〉 The odds ratio of high strain isolated group(high strain group+low social support) was 3.59(95 2.05 5.13), but the odds ratio of high strain collective group was 1.32(95 0.23 2.41). Social support at work was modifing factor of the association between psycho social distress and job strain. Therefore we reviewed the evidence that economic depression was associated with psycho social distress in this study, and that the strength of the social support was important in maintain health.

This study was undertaken to describe the fine structural changes of cytoplasmic organelles in epidermal cells, and the changes of volume and localization of collagen type Ⅰ in the dermis of rat skin by CS(Ortho-chlorobenzylidene malononitrile) application. The experimental animals, 100∼150gm of body weight rats(Sprague-Dawley strain), were sacrificed at 12 hours, 24 hours, 3 day and 5 day after CS application on the hair-shaved back skin. The specimens were prepared for ultrastructural findings, ultrathin sections were stained with uranyl acetate and lead citrate double stain and observed with Hitachi-600 electron microscrope. The others were incubated with rabbit anti rat type Ⅰ collagen antibody as primary antibody, and Goat anti rabbit IgG antibodies as secondary antibody And advidin-biotin-conjugated(ABC) peroxidase procedure was used. All of specimens for immune reactions were observed with light microscope. The results obtained were as follows. 1 Keratinocytes appeared fully necrotized after 3 days of CS application. The epidermis showed degeneration of basal lamina, enlargement of intercellular spaces and necrotic keratinocytes with vacuole and vesicles. And large keratohyalin granules were seen in the shrunken epidermal cells. 2 At 3 or 5 day after CS treatment, the normal cytoplasmic organelles of keratinocytes began to appear on the basal and prickel cells. 3 At 12 hour an 24 hour after CS treatment. The immune reaction of type Ⅰ collagen showed weak reaction in reticular layer of dermis. But at 3 day and 5 day after CS treatment, moderate immune reaction were seen in throughout the dermis. These results suggest that CS application to rak skin may induce changes of keratinocytes and reductive changes of type Ⅰ collagen in the dermis.

A case of sialadenitis is presented in a patient with painful swelling of the right mouth floor. The condition was caused by trauma on the right mouth floor during dental treatment, which had happened 15 days before admission. On aspiration, mucous secretion was found and ultrasonography showed obstruction of duct. Histopathological studies and surgical investigation established a definite diagnosis of obstructive sialadenitis caused by ductal laceration. As surgical treatment sialodochoplasty was selected. The case and relevant considerations are discussed.

This investigation was conducted to know the characteristics and cultivation method of some tropical crops; fruit tree, vegetable and ornamental flowers growing in Tropical regions by literatures. 1) Most of fruits were utilized as raw-fruit itself and processing techniques are needed for the merchandise. Some fruit is lack of cultivation method. Pine apple and banana are the most common fruit in these regions. These fruit products can be exported to the temperate zone regions for the net-income of the farmers. 2) Vegetables are cultivated for the part of vitamin supply and on the whole, cultivation method is underdeveloped yet. But some vegetables are grown for the industrial oil, medicine manufacture, feed forage and green manure. 3) Ornamental flowers are grown for the cutflower and garden flower. From these results, It is believed that introduction and adaptability test must be conducted for the increased net-income of Korean farmers.

AbstractThis study was designed to identify the lymphocytes present and to examine the relation between lymphocytes population and clinical symptoms of the pulps clinically diagnosed as normal and irreversible pulpitis. We recorded the history and severity of the pain and performed several clinical tests, before extirpation of vital, irreversibly inflamed pulps in routine endodontic treatment. Then the teeth were divided into two groups. Five teeth, categorized in acute symptom group, had severe spontaneous pain, particularly at night and were extremely sensitive to cold and heat. The other 15 teeth with history of mild to moderate pain and with or without cold or heat responses were categorized as chronic symptom group. Inflamed pulps were also classified into 8 minor groups by presence or absence of signs or symptoms related to the involved teeth, including the presence of pain on percussion, pain on heat and cold stimuli and the periodontal pocket depth. All extirpated pulps were immediately immersed in ultra low-temperature freezer (-74℃), and they were sectioned 6um in thickness. Specimens were stained using three-stage indirect immunoperoxidase techniques(DAKO, LSAB kit) and monoclonal antibodies for detecting the presence ofT lymphocytes (T), B lymphocytes(B) and helper(T4) and suppressor(TS) lymphocytes. Following results were obtained; 1. All the examined normal and inflamed pulp tissues had positive staining for T lymphocy- tes and T helper and T suppressor cells. But B cells were observed only in inflamed pulp. 2. Statistically more T and B cells were observed in acute symptom group as compared with chronic symptom group(p<0.05). 3. Cell ratio of B/T in acute symptom group were significantly higher than that of chronic symptom group(p<0.05). 4. Only B cells were significantly increased in the percussion positive group than the number of B cells in percussion negative group(p<0.05). 5. No differences were observed in the number of different cell types among other minor groups.

The welding plays an important role to manufacture processes in designning and manufacturing of a general structures and passenger cars. The generation of temperature distribution in a structure manufactured by the welding is inevitable. In the problem of this thermal effect, particulary it is a well known that analysis for temperature gradient, temperature distribution, and the like become consequence factors to a safety and a strength design. Because the correct analysis of these question is difficult, many investigators are studying it in many ways. This paper analyzes the temperature distribution of 3-piece welding area in steering column for passenger car using finite element method. Therefore it calculates the numerical value that can be applied to the optimal design of welding parts and the shapes. The significant results obtained in this study are summerized as follows. In temperature analysis, cooling by the convection between maretials is almost completed at 15 sec, when a unique temperature field are formed. At early stage of the cooling, the abrupt temperature gradient has been shown in vicinity of the bottem face of welding area. After this, the material are gradually cooled by the thermal convection with the circumference.

The electro-rheological(ER) effect refers to the abrupt change in viscosity in certain suspensions on application of an electric field. This paper presents experimental results on material properties of an ER fluids subjected to electrical fatigues. As a first step, two types of ER fluids are made of arabic gum and methyl cellulose(MC) choosing 25% of parti-cle weight-concentration. Following the construction of test mechanism for electrical durability of ER fluid, the dynamic yield shear stress and current density of the ER fluids are experimentally distilled as a function of electric field. The yield shear stress of operated ER fluids are distilled and compared with those of unused ER fluids.

In this study the Jominy end quench apparatus specified by Korean Industrial Standards was used to investigate the influence of the temperature of water and concentration of brine on hardness distribution of specimens. The results obtained are as follow ; 1. In carbon steel, at the end of specimen, variation of hardness was abruptly decreased. Above 10㎜ from the end surface hardness was decreased slightly. In Cr-Mo steel, hardness was decreased moderately. 2. 2% NaCl brine made little difference with city water in hardness distribution, 4~6% brine, hower, made a remarkable increase of hardenability. 3. Alloying elements such as Chromium and Molybdenum improve hardenability. Increase of carbon also contributes to the hardness. In alloy steel, the highest value of hardness depends on carbon content rather that Cr and Mo. The cooling rate affected on hardenability of caron steel more than that of alloying steel. 4. As the temperature of coolant increased the hardenability was decreased. This tendency was similar on alloy steel and carbon steel.
