      • Self‐Assembled Nanoparticles with Dual Effects of Passive Tumor Targeting and Cancer‐Selective Anticancer Effects

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Nanoparticular drug delivery systems may help to overcome the limitations of conventional chemotherapy. They have been reported to improve the specificity of distribution, the bioavailability, and the solubility of drugs, as well as the duration of drug efficacy, and helping to overcome multidrug resistance. Although various polymeric nanoparticles have been developed for delivery of anticancer agents, most nanoparticles still focus on solubilizing drugs, improving targeting ability, and reducing side effects. In particular, targeting to the tumor is typically improved through passive or active targeting. Despite great achievements in both strategies, yet to be resolved are issues of toxicity in normal cells and enhancement of tumor‐specificity. A new approach combining the dual strategies of passive tumor targeting and cancer‐selective efficacy is proposed. Recombinant human gelatin conjugated with lipoic acid (rHG‐LA) developed in this study forms nanoparticles spontaneously in aqueous solution and encapsulates alpha‐tocopheryl succinate (<I>α</I>‐TOS), a well‐known cancer‐selective apoptosis‐inducing agent, within a hydrophobic core during the self‐assembly. This study describes the promising applicability of <I>α</I>‐TOS‐loaded rHG‐LA nanoparticles with passive targeting ability and cancer‐specificity.</P>

        This study aimed to recognize the problem of “practing literature” education as a literary education paradox and discuss ways to properly deal with it. “practising literature” is regarded as the content that drives the practice of literature in the learner's life and is set as a major agenda for literature education. However, the specific viewpoint or method for realizing “practising literature” education is still ambiguous. Therefore, this study attempted to secure a concrete perspective that enables the such education to function fully by confirming its orientation and its status in literary education. From this perspective, this study attempted to establish a core mechanism for realizing “practising literature” education. The perspective of “practising literature” education that this study intends to focus on os that it is a literary education paradox, and this education is currently positioned as an antithesis of literary education. To readdress this paradox, the study developed a method that recognizes “practising literature” as a “transit point” of literature education, and penetrates literature and leap through literature simultaneously by using the “pleasure” of literature and the “rite of passage” of literature as the core mechanisms.

        은유 기반 시 학습 설계 -매개로서의 은유를 활용하여-

        시 학습 설계에는 학습자들의 일상 경험 세계와 연결되어 학습의 용이성을 제공하면서도 동시에 학습자들을 시의 심미 지점으로 이끄는 방편이 요구된다. 본고가 주목한 방편은 은유다. 은유를 인식론적 도구로 바라보면, 시의 은유는 일상의 관습적 은유의 연속체이기 때문이다. 이에 본고는 은유를 매개로 활용하는 시 학습을 설계하고, ‘은유 기반 시 학습 모형’을 구안하였다. 이를 위해 본고는 다음의 연구를 진행하였다. 먼저 일상 경험 세계와 시 세계의 연속성에 주목하고, 이를 매개하는 은유를 활용하겠다는 시 학습 설계의 기본 관점을 제시했다. 다음으로는 시 학습의 방법론을 설계했다. 은유 기반 시 학습은 해석의 공동체를 구성하여 시의 은유화 과정을 추적하는 해석 행위를 수행하는 방식으로 설계된다. 마지막으로는 연구의 내용을 종합하여 ‘은유 기반 시 학습 모형’을 제안하였다. Poetry learning design requires a method that connects learners to the world of their daily experiences to provide ease of learning while at the same time leading learners to the aesthetic point of poetry. The method that this study paid attention to is metaphor. If metaphor is viewed as an epistemological tool, it is because the metaphor of poetry is a continuum of conventional metaphors. Therefore, this study designed poetry learning using metaphors as a medium and devised a 'Metaphor Based Poetry Learning Model'. To this end, this study conducted the following studies. First, I presented the basic perspective of poetry learning design to pay attention to the continuity of the world of everyday experience and the world of poetry, and to use the metaphor that mediates it. Next, I designed the methodology of poetry learning. Metaphor-based poetry learning is designed in a way that constructs a community of interpretation and performs interpretive actions that track the metaphorical process of poetry. Finally, a 'Metaphor-Based Poetry Learning Model' was proposed by synthesizing the contents of the study.

        Effects of Floor Impact Noise on Indoor Environmental Comfort

        The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of floor impact noise on indoor environmental comfort. Subjective assessments were conducted with 32 university students in an indoor environmental chamber. A 4 (floor impact noise types) × 4 (background noise types) × 2 (background noise levels) × 3 (room air temperatures) × 2 (gender) within-subjects factorial design was employed, and factorial ANOVA was applied to analyze the data. The effect size of floor impact noise on indoor environmental comfort was investigated using partial eta squared from the ANOVA results. The correlation coefficients between indoor environmental comfort and each subjective attributes were calculated. The indoor environmental comfort was highly correlated with the thermal comfort as well as floor impact noise annoyance. The effect size of floor impact noise was greater than that of room temperature on indoor environmental comfort. When floor impact noise occurred, the acoustic environment was more important than the thermal environment with temperatures of 20 to 30°C.

      • Screening of probiotic activities of Weissella strains isolated from kimchi

        Increased attention has been paid to the finding of probiotic culture and the development of probiotic food or medicine because numerous health beneficial effects have been reported by taking probiotics. In this study, we isolated two Weissella strains from kimchi to evaluate their potential probiotic activity. Both isolates, JK12 and J29, have similarity to W. cibaria (99.79%) and W. hellenica (99.86%) analyzed by 16S rRNA gene sequencing. They showed no reaction in a β-hemolysis test. JK12 and J29 showed the antibacterial effect again Escherichia coli, E. coli O157, and Bacillus cereus, respectively. W. hellenica J29 completely inhibited α-glucosidase activity with any affection in α-amylase activity. More details will be discussed.

      • Toward Improving the Effectiveness of Campus Ministry at Universities

        Campus ministry is important because campuses are global gathering places where students from around the world, who study together now, will be providing leadership in years to come. Campuses are ethnically and culturally more diverse than ever before. In spite of this perception about the importance of campus ministries, it is true that the church could not have a satisfactory result. In other words, the church has failed to utilize the university effectively as a golden field for expanding the kingdom of God and the most fruitful field of evangelization. Therefore, in this study, the importance and necessity of youth evangelism in the campus is discussed first. Then, the characteristics of their generation are described and effective missional suggestions for youth evangelism on the basis of campus settings are followed. In college ministry, it is no longer enough to attract a crowd. As people who are engaged in campus ministry, we have to mobilize our students for mission. We need a missional and intentional shift for reaching this crucial people group because the future health and vitality of the church will depend on it.

        Creating an Art Workshop Service to Alleviate Stress among University Students - Focused on Students Dwelling in Dormitories -

        Background This paper presents an alternative creative solution to relieve stress expressed among university students living in dorms. By implementing art workshops and fostering a sense of community. This alternative approach aims to address the stress experienced by these students. Currently, the university fails to provide proactive measures or support to effectively deal with the students' stress, which often remains unaddressed due to their disincline to seek help. Recognizing the necessity for a sustainable and accessible service, this study suggests the implementation of “Brush on Grass”, a series of art workshops as a means of reducing stress and promoting social connections, particularly in the context of the pandemic. Methods The workshops aim to provide students with a creative outlet to manage stress and enhance their overall well-being. The workshops will take place in the green spaces of the campus, providing an opportunity to revitalize the campus landscape. Result Based on data collected through questionnaires, the art workshop, and interviews, this study formed an outline of “Poolbit”, which expands and encourages participation in the art workshops. Conclusion Therefore, this study explores the potential of service design to promote art-based workshops for stress management among university students in dormitories.
