        Array Sensing Using Electromagnetic Method for Detection of Smelting in Submerged Arc Furnaces

        In this paper, we propose an array sensing detection method for smelting of submerged arc furnaces (SAF) based on electromagnetic radiation. AC magnetic field generated by electrode currents and molten currents in the furnace is reflected outside of the furnace. According to the spatial distribution of electromagnetic field a radiation model of SAF is built. We design a 3D magnetic field sensing array system in order to collect the magnetic field information. Through the collected information, the current distribution characteristics of SAF are described and the key parameters of smelting are obtained. Theoretical simulation and field test show that the curves acquired by the sensing array can accurately reflect the information of the relative displacement when the relative displacement between the array and electrode is 10 ㎝. Compared with the detection method of 3D single point, the proposed array sensing method of magnetic field obtains better results in terms of realtime and accuracy, and has good practical value for industrial measurement.

        A Non-contact Detection Method for Smelting in Submerged Arc Furnace based on Magnetic Field Radiation

        This paper demonstrates the key parameter detection for smelting of submerged arc furnace (SAF) based on magnetic field radiation. A magnetic field radiation model for the inner structure of SAF is established based on relative theory of electromagnetic field. A simple equipment of 3D magnetic field detection system is developed by theoretical derivation and simulation. The experiments are carried out under the environment of industrial field and AC magnetic field generated by electrode currents and molten currents in the furnace is reflected outside of the furnace. The experimental results show that the key parameters of smelting including the position of electrode tip, the length of electric arc, and the liquid level of molten bath can be achieved. The computed tomography for SAF can be realized by the detection for smelting.

        Detection for Position of Electrode Tip of Submerged Arc Furnaces with the Differential Magnetic Field Radiation

        The differential magnetic field sensing is proposed to detect the position of the electrode tip for the smelting of the submerged arc furnace (SAF). The magnetic radiation model is established by the magnetic differences between the electrode zone and electric arc zone in the industrial field of SAF and the differential magnetic field sensing system is developed. The experiments are carried out under the environment of industrial field. When the relative distance between the two probes is appropriately set, the field test curve can accurately reflect the position of the electrode tip. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the difference of the front end of the system can detect the position of the electrode tip and effectively avoid saturating the system. Compared with the detection of magnetic field array sensing, the differential magnetic field detection scheme is more effective for the position information of the electrode tip and has better practical value for industrial measurement.

        Video Quality Assessment Based on Short-Term Memory

        With the fast development of information and communication technologies, video streaming services and applications are increasing rapidly. However, the network condition is volatile. In order to provide users with better quality of service, it is necessary to develop an accurate and low-complexity model for Quality of Experience (QoE) prediction of time-varying video. Memory effects refer to the psychological influence factor of historical experience, which can be taken into account to improve the accuracy of QoE evaluation. In this paper, we design subjective experiments to explore the impact of Short-Term Memory (STM) on QoE. The experimental results show that the user’s real-time QoE is influenced by the duration of previous viewing experience and the expectations generated by STM. Furthermore, we propose analytical models to determine the relationship between intrinsic video quality, expectation and real-time QoE. The proposed models have better performance for real-time QoE prediction when the video is transmitted in a fluctuate network. The models are capable of providing more accurate guidance for improving the quality of video streaming services.

        HandButton: Gesture Recognition of Transceiver-free Object by Using Wireless Networks

        Traditional radio-based gesture recognition approaches usually require the target to carry a device (e.g., an EMG sensor or an accelerometer sensor). However, such requirement cannot be satisfied in many applications. For example, in smart home, users want to control the light on/off by some specific hand gesture, without finding and pressing the button especially in dark area. They will not carry any device in this scenario. To overcome this drawback, in this paper, we propose three algorithms able to recognize the target gesture (mainly the human hand gesture) without carrying any device, based on just Radio Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI). Our platform utilizes only 6 telosB sensor nodes with a very easy deployment. Experiment results show that the successful recognition radio can reach around 80% in our system.

        Ganodermanontriol Suppresses the Progression of Lung Adenocarcinoma by Activating CES2 to Enhance the Metabolism of Mycophenolate Mofetil

        New anti-lung cancer therapies are urgently required to improve clinical outcomes. Since ganodermanontriol (GDNT) has been identified as a potential antineoplastic agent, its role in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is investigated in this study. Concretely, lung cancer cells were treated with GDNT and/or mycophenolate mofetil (MMF), after which MTT assay, flow cytometry and Western blot were conducted. Following bioinformatics analysis, carboxylesterase 2 (CES2) was knocked down and rescue assays were carried out in vitro. Xenograft experiment was performed on mice, followed by drug administration, measurement of tumor growth and determination of CES2, IMPDH1 and IMPDH2 expressions. As a result, the viability of lung cancer cells was reduced by GDNT or MMF. GDNT enhanced the effects of MMF on suppressing viability, promoting apoptosis and inducing cell cycle arrest in lung cancer cells. GDNT up-regulated CES2 level, and strengthened the effects of MMF on down-regulating IMPDH1 and IMPDH2 levels in the cells. IMPDH1 and IMPDH2 were highly expressed in LUAD samples. CES2 was a potential target for GDNT. CES2 knockdown reversed the synergistic effect of GDNT and MMF against lung cancer in vitro. GDNT potentiated the role of MMF in inhibiting tumor growth and expressions of CES2 and IMPDH1/2 in lung cancer in vivo. Collectively, GDNT suppresses the progression of LUAD by activating CES2 to enhance the metabolism of MMF.

        Effects of Ligand-exchanged Cadmium Selenide Nanoparticles on the Performance of P3HT:PCBM:CdSe Ternary System Solar Cells

        An improved hybrid solar cell was obtained by focusing on the effects of ligand for CdSe nanoparticles, in the active layers. The performance was compared by mixing nanoparticles capped with pyridine or oleic acid for the acceptor material into poly(3-hexylthiophene):[6,6]-phenyl C61 butyric acid methyl ester based active layer. The solar cells with pyridine capped CdSe nanoparticles showed a power conversion efficiency of 2.96% while oleic acid capped CdSe nanoparticles showed 2.85%, under AM 1.5G illumination. Formation of percolation pathways for carrier transport and a reduction in the hopping event resulted in better performance of pyridine capped nanoparticles.

        Exploration and Validation of the Performance of Hemoglobin A1c in Detecting Diabetes in Community-Dwellers With Hypertension

        Background: Diabetes can complicate hypertension management by increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and all-cause mortality. Studies targeting diabetes detection in hypertensive individuals demonstrating an increased risk of diabetes are lacking. We aimed to assess the performance of hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) and its cut-off point in detecting diabetes in the abovementioned population. Methods: Data from 4,096 community-dwellers with hypertension but without known diabetes were obtained from the Study on Evaluation of iNnovated Screening tools and determInation of optimal diagnostic cut-off points for type 2 diaBetes in Chinese muLti-Ethnic (SENSIBLE) study; these data were randomly split into exploration (70% of the sample) and internal validation (the remaining 30%) datasets. The optimal HbA1c cut-off point was derived from the exploration dataset and externally validated using another dataset from 2,431 hypertensive individuals. The oral glucose tolerance test was considered the gold-standard for confirming diabetes. Results: The areas under the ROC curves for HbA1c to detect diabetes were 0.842, 0.832, and 0.829 for the exploration, internal validation, and external validation datasets, respectively. An optimal HbA1c cut-off point of 5.8% (40 mmol/mol) yielded a sensitivity of 76.2% and a specificity of 74.5%. Individuals who were not diagnosed as having diabetes by HbA1c at 5.8% (40 mmol/mol) had a lower 10-year CVD risk score than those diagnosed as having diabetes (P=0.01). HbA1c≤5.1% (32 mmol/mol) and ≥6.4% (46 mmol/mol) could indicate the absence and presence of diabetes, respectively. Conclusions: HbA1c could detect diabetes effectively in community-dwellers with hypertension.

      • Study on land ecological risk in Shen-Fu Connection Area based on land use change

        Taking Shen-Fu Connection Area (SFCA) as a case, the purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of ecological risk based on land use change. Methods of RS, GIS and statistical analysis were employed. An integrated ecological risk index was built to analyze the ecological risk to landscape change in this region. The results show that the conversion of land type is mainly among agricultural land, construction land and fores land and it can strongly influence the characteristic and distribution of ecological risk, so the integrated ecological risk has been increasing from 1997 to 2008. With the economic development and urbanization course, the degree of land use will be increased and so is the ecological risk. So ecological construction and environment protection should be adopted in this area for sustainable development.
