Preparation and photocatalytic activity of a novel BiOCl/g‑C3N4 thin film prepared via spin coating

        Wei‑Qin Cai,De‑Fang Zhang,Feng‑Jun Zhang,Won‑Chun Oh 한국세라믹학회 2020 한국세라믹학회지 Vol.57 No.3

Novel BiOCl/g-C3N4 thin film photocatalysts were synthesized via a simple two-step spin coating method. The prepared photocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activity of the thin films for the degradation of rhodamine B under visible light (λ ≥ 400 nm) was investigated. The results showed that the BiOCl/g-C3N4 thin film photocatalysts exhibited significantly improved visible light absorption compared to the pure BiOCl thin film. The BiOCl/g-C3N4 film showed a rhodamine B degradation efficiency of 81.0% under visible light, which is 23.8 times higher than that of the pure BiOCl thin film. This excellent photocatalytic activity of the BiOCl/g-C3N4 film can be attributed to its efficient electron–hole separation due to the presence of g-C3N4.

RanBPM inhibits BLT2-mediated IL-8 production and invasiveness in aggressive breast cancer cells

Wei, Jun-Dong,Jang, Jae-Hyun,Kim, Jae-Hong Academic Press 2017 Biochemical and biophysical research communication Vol. No.

Abstract

RanBPM is a scaffolding protein that regulates several cellular processes by interacting with various proteins. Previously, we reported that RanBPM acts as a negative regulator of BLT2, a low-affinity leukotriene B4 receptor; thus, it interferes with BLT2-mediated cell motility. In the present study, we observed that the expression levels of RanBPM were markedly reduced in the highly aggressive MDA-MB-435 and MDA-MB-231 human breast cancer cell lines compared with those in non-invasive MCF-7 cells. Additionally, we found that the restoration of RanBPM levels suppressed the invasiveness of these aggressive breast cancer cells in a manner dependent on BLT2 activation. In contrast, the knockdown of endogenous RanBPM by shRNA strongly promoted invasiveness in non-invasive MCF-7 cells. We also observed that RanBPM suppressed the invasiveness of aggressive breast cancer cells by inhibiting BLT2-mediated reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and IL-8 production. Taken together, our results suggest that RanBPM acts as a negative regulator of BLT2, thus attenuating the invasiveness of aggressive breast cancer cells.

Highlights

RanBPM suppresses the invasiveness of aggressive breast cancer cells by inhibiting BLT2-mediated ROS generation and IL-8 production.

The expression levels of RanBPM are reduced in the aggressive breast cancer cells.

Restoration of RanBPM levels suppressed the invasiveness of aggressive breast cancer cells in a manner dependent on the LTB4-BLT2 axis.

      • Influence of APP Quality on the Success of Mobile Health App in China : Evaluating Moderation Effects of Familiarity

        Jun-Wei Cao,Gui-Hua Zhang,Dae-Wan Kim 한국디지털융합학회 2021 IJICTDC Vol.6 No.2

The service quality of mobile health apps is a crucial factor affecting users’ satisfaction. For analyzing the influence of service quality of mobile health apps on users’ satisfaction in China, a hypothetical model with three dimensions and eight variables was established. Then this hypothetical model was combined with the model of mobile health service quality and hypotheses were proposed based on the actual situations according to the updated D&M information system success (UMDISS) theory. Questionnaires were issued to collect data and the SEM-PLS method was used to valid the hypothetical model and hypotheses. The reliability and security of the system quality of mobile health apps positively impacted the users’ satisfaction. The cooperation and personalization of service quality had a significant impact on the users’ willingness to use mobile health apps. Through multi-group analyses, it was found that the relationship between mobile health app system quality, users’ satisfaction, and the use of mobile health apps differed under different familiarities with mobile health apps. This study is expected to provide theoretical guidance for the marketing of mobile health apps.

        Jun Wei Wu,Yu Rong Xing,Yi Bo Wen,Tian Fang Li,Quan De Feng,Xiao Ping Shang,Yun Long Li,Jin Jin Feng,Xin Xin Wang,Rong Qun Zhai,Xiang Fei He,Tao Chen,Xin Jian Liu,Jian Guo Wen 대한배뇨장애요실금학회 2016 International Neurourology Journal Vol.20 No.2

Purpose: To investigate the prevalence of spina bifida occulta (SBO) and its relationship with the presence of overactive bladder (OAB) in middle-aged and elderly people in China. Methods: A cross-sectional community-based survey was carried out at 7 communities in Zhengzhou City, China from December 15, 2013 to June 10, 2014, where residents aged over 40 years were randomly selected to participate. All of the participants underwent lumbosacral radiographic analysis and relevant laboratory tests. A questionnaire including basic information, past medical history and present illness, and the OAB symptom score was filled out by all participants. Chi-square tests and logistic regression were used for data analysis with a P-value of <0.05 denoting statistical significance. Results: A total of 1,061 subjects were qualified for the final statistical analysis (58.8±11.7 years; male, 471 [44.4%]; female, 590 [55.6%]). The overall prevalence of SBO was 15.1% (160 of 1,061): 18.3% (86 of 471) in men and 12.5% (74 of 590) in women. Among these subjects, 13.7% (145 of 1,061) had OAB: 13.2% (62 of 471) in men and 14.1% (83 of 590) in women. The results of logistic regression showed that age, SBO, history of cerebral infarction (HCI), and constipation were risk factors for OAB (P<0.05), while sex, history of childhood enuresis (HCE), body mass index (BMI), and diabetes mellitus (DM) were not (P>0.05). In men, age, SBO, and constipation were risk factors for OAB (P<0.05), while HCE, BMI, DM, HCI, and benign prostate hyperplasia were not (P>0.05). In women, age, SBO, and HCI were risk factors for OAB (P<0.05), while HCE, BMI, DM, vaginal delivery, and constipation were not (P>0.05). Conclusions: The prevalence of SBO is high and it is related to OAB in middle-aged and elderly people in China.

Isolation and characterization of a novel Ganoderma lucidum gene that differentially expressed between shaking culture and liquid static culture

        Jun-Wei Xu,Wei Zhao,Jian-Jiang Zhong 한국유전학회 2011 Genes & Genomics Vol.33 No.6

Suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH) was preformed to investigate the differences of gene expression between the shaking culture mode and the liquid static culture mode which favors ganoderic acids production in Ganoderma lucidum. One novel gene preferentially expressed in liquid static culture was identified and analyzed. Its full length cDNA sequence and the 5'-flanking region were then obtained by rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE) and self-formed adaptor PCR (SEFA-PCR), respectively. Nucleotide sequence of the gene is not homologous to any of the known Ganoderma genes. The sequence analysis revealed that the open reading frame of this gene encodes a protein of 371 amino acids that has high homology with the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) of other five species-Postia (97%), Coprinopsis (91%), Neurospora (86%), Aspergillus (83%), and Saccharomyces (80%)-so that it can be defined as a G. lucidum MAPK gene (GenBank accession number: JF781125). Computer assisted analysis revealed that this new G. lucidum MAPK gene contains thirteen exons and twelve introns. The quantitative real-time RT-PCR (qRT-PCR) analysis showed that this new gene had a much higher expression level in liquid static culture than in traditional shaking culture. Results of this research established a good foundation for further study on the functions of the G. lucidum MAPK at the molecular level.
