      • HOW THE TOURISM SERVICE QUALITY INFLUENCE THE TOURIST LOYALTY: TOUR GUIDE PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE AS INTERMEDIARY VARIABLES

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among the service quality, professional competence and loyalty of China tourists visiting Taiwan. A crosssectional survey was used to collect usable data from the China tourists who participate in group tourism to Taiwan. The result indicate that the China tourists felt the service quality of “meal” in Taiwan is the best and good feeling in “professional knowledge” of tour guide. In addition, this study found that the professional competence of tour guide has an intermediary effect between the quality of tourist services and tourist loyalty. The quality of tourism service can positively influence the loyalty of China tourists to Taiwan, meanwhile, the quality of tourism service can positively affect the professional competence of tour guide and the professional competence of tour guide can positively affect the loyalty of China tourists travel to Taiwan. According to the results, the study found that travel agencies should focus on the training of tour guide, which help travel agencies to raise the value of travels product and attract more tourist.

      • A Feature-based Tumor Detection for MRI Breast Imaging

        In this paper, we propose a feature-based scheme composed of the intra-slice, texture and inter-slice analyses to achieve tumor region identification in MRI breast images. Our intra-slice analysis evaluates the intensity and size information of candidate regions. To find a precise region, a region growing algorithm is proposed based on ellipse fitness. In the texture analysis, some texture features are extracted and combined with a neural network to reduce the false alarms. The inter-slice analysis is based on the continuity characteristic to verify the static behavior of tumor regions. The experimental results show that our proposed scheme can correctly identify tumor regions.

      • Arm Exoskeleton Rehabilitation Robot with Assistive System for Patient after Stroke

        Exercise dosage is proven to be an important factor in the physical treatment. Robot assistive approach can improve the rehabilitation quality and evaluate patient’s recovery quantitatively. This paper presents kinematic structure, assistive control system, and integrated F/T sensor for an upper limb rehabilitation robot. By using the human arm dynamic, there are three rehabilitation modes presented in this paper: active mode, assistive mode, and passive mode. In assistive mode, we have two strategies to implement it. One is to amplify interactive torque, and the other is to apply assist-as-needed concept. The goal of this mode is to assist patients to finish motion tasks. The rehabilitation robot under investigation has 7 degree of freedom (DOF) actuated by DC motors, which are programmed to drive the robot arm in the 3D space. To validate our control design, some realistic experiments are conducted and its satisfactory performance is demonstrated. This work is approved clinical testing by the Department of Health, Executive Yuan, R.O.C. So far, we are demonstrating the effect of our controller.

      • A Novel Single-Phase Soft-Switching Unipolar PWM Inverter

        A novel single-phase soft-switching unipolar PWM inverter (SSUPI) using a simple auxiliary resonant unit is proposed. All main switches of high-frequency arm operate at zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) turn-on, while the auxiliary switches operate at zero-current-switching (ZCS) turn-off. All main switches of low-frequency arm operate at 60 ㎐ to greatly reduce switching losses. As a result, commutations of the main power devices occur with low losses. Consequently, higher efficiency is achieved. Moreover, a unipolar PWM scheme is used to reduce the output voltage harmonics. Some experimental results of the proposed SSUPI, rated 500 W and operated at 40 ㎑, are presented for demonstration.

      • Contour-Model-Guided Volumetric Deformation Method for Medical Image Registration

        부위들 사이에 혹은 그룹별 가능하도록 하기 위하여 해부학의 표준화를 위한 한 부위의 MR 영상을 표준인 참조 MR 영상으로 바꾸는 자동화된 방법이 제시한다. 이 방법에서는 먼저 입력된 영상과 참조영상의 전체적으로 나란히 놓기 위하여 선형변환을 하고, 능동 윤곽선 추출 기법을 이용하여 입력영상의 윤곽선과 곡면을 다듬는다. 그리고, 이 과정을 통하여 얻어진 윤곽선과 곡면의 대응관계를 기초로, 제안된 가중 지역 참조 좌표계를 이용하여 입력영상을 변형하는 비선형 변환을 한다. 우리는 이방법을 MR 영상의 등록을 위하여 실제 영상에 적용해 보았다. An automated method is proposed for anatomic standardization that elastically map one subject's MR image to a standard reference MR image to enable inter-subject and cross-group studies. In this method, linear transformations are first applied to grossly align the input image to the reference image. Then, the candidate corresponding regions in the input image are identified based on the contour information from the pre-segmented reference image. Next, and active contour model is employed to refine the contour and surface description of the input image. Based on the contour and surface correspondence established in these previous steps, a non-linear transformation is determined using the proposed weighted local reference coordinates systems to warp the input image. We tested this algorithm on various real images for registration of MR images.

        Proton Pump Inhibitor-unresponsive Laryngeal Symptoms Are Associated With Psychological Comorbidities and Sleep Disturbance: A Manometry and Impedance-pH Monitoring Study

        Background/AimsLaryngeal symptoms are largely treated with empiric proton pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy if no apparent pathology shown on ear, nose, and throat evaluation and reflux-related etiologies are suspected. However, treatment response remains unsatisfactory. This study aimed to investigate the clinical and physiological characteristics of patients with PPI-refractory laryngeal symptoms. MethodsPatients with persistent laryngeal symptoms despite PPI treatment for ≥ 8 weeks were recruited. A multidisciplinary evaluation comprising validated questionnaires for laryngeal symptoms (reflux symptom index [RSI]), gastroesophageal reflux disease symptoms, psychological comorbidity (5-item brief symptom rating scale [BSRS-5]) and sleep disturbance (Pittsburgh sleep quality index [PSQI]), esophagogastroduodenoscopy, ambulatory impedance-pH monitoring, and high-resolution impedance manometry were performed. Healthy asymptomatic individuals were also recruited for comparison of psychological morbidity and sleep disturbances. ResultsNinety-seven adult patients and 48 healthy volunteers were analyzed. The patients had markedly higher prevalence of psychological distress (52.6% vs 2.1%, P < 0.001) and sleep disturbance (82.5% vs 37.5%, P < 0.001) than the healthy volunteers. There were significant correlations between RSI and BSRS-5 scores, and between RSI and PSQI scores (r = 0.26, P = 0.010, and r = 0.29, P = 0.004, respectively). Fifty-eight patients had concurrent gastroesophageal reflux disease symptoms. They had more prominent sleep disturbances (89.7% vs 71.8%, P < 0.001) than those with laryngeal symptoms alone but similar reflux profiles and esophageal motility. ConclusionsPPI-refractory laryngeal symptoms are mostly associated with psychological comorbidities and sleep disturbances. Recognition of these psychosocial comorbidities may help optimize management in these patients.

      • A Novel Single-Stage High-Power-Factor Electronic Ballast for High-Pressure Sodium (HPS) Lamps in Streetlight Applications

        This paper proposes a novel single-stage highpower-factor electronic ballast for high-pressure sodium (HPS) lamps suitable for streetlight applications; this ballast integrates an interleaved buck-boost converter with coupled inductors and a full-bridge inverter for supplying low-frequency square-wave sources to the HPS lamp without incurring acoustic resonance. A 250W-rated prototype HPS lamp ballast circuit operating with 110V-rms input utility-line voltage has been successfully implemented and tested. The functionalities of the presented ballast are demonstrated through satisfactory experimental results in terms of high power factor (>0.99), low utility-line current total harmonic distortion (<3%), and high circuit efficiency (>89%).
