The summer fruit tortrix moth Adoxophyes orana is a seriously damaged leaf roller pest for fruit trees. In this study, we evaluated the effect of five host plants (apple, Malus domestica B.; peach, Prunus persica var. nectarina; apricot, Armeniaca vulgaris Lam.; mulberry, Morus alba L.; and jujube, Ziziphus jujuba M.) on the development, survival, and fecundity of A. orana under laboratory conditions. Results showed that the development times of A. orana on jujube were significantly longer than those on the other four plants. The preimaginal survival rate was influenced by the host plants, which were fed during the larval stage, and with the highest on peach, followed by apple, apricot, and mulberry, and with the lowest on jujube. Adult females from larvae reared on apricot laid the greatest numbers of eggs (318.11 eggs per female), while that on apple, jujube, and mulberry was smaller, and no significant difference was observed among them. The highest intrinsic rate of increase (rm) was observed on peach and apricot; these two fruit trees were considered to be the most suitable host plant for A. orana because of the shorter developmental duration, higher survival rate, and the highest fecundity.

It is generally accepted that spermatozoa capacitation is associated with protein kinase A-mediated tyrosine phosphorylation. In our previous study, we identified the fibrous sheath CABYR binding protein (FSCB), which was phosphorylated by PKA. However, the phosphorylation status of FSCB protein during spermatozoa capacitation should be further investigated. To this aim, in this study, we found that phosphorylation of this 270-kDa protein occurred as early as 1 min after mouse spermatozoa capacitation, which increased over time and remained stable after 60 min. Immunoprecipitation assays demonstrated that the tyrosine and Ser/Thr phosphorylation of FSCB occurred during spermatozoa capacitation. The extent of phosphorylation and was closely associated with the PKA activity and spermatozoa motility characteristics. FSCB phosphorylation could be induced by PKA agonist DB-cAMP, but was blocked by PKA antagonist H-89.Therefore, FSCB contributes to spermatozoa capacitation in a tyrosine-phosphorylated format, which may help in further elucidating the molecular mechanism of spermatozoa capacitation. Candida rugosa lipase (CRL) is one of the most widely used lipases. To enhance the catalytic abilities of CRL in both aqueous and non-aqueous phases, hollow silica microspheres (HSMSs) with a pore size of 18.07 nm were used as an immobilization support, and aldehydecontaining dextrans were employed to further cross-link the adsorbed CRL. In the experimental ranges examined, the loading amount of lipase linearly increased to 171 ±3.4 mgprotein/gsupport with the CRL concentration and all the adsorption equilibriums were reached within 30 min. After simple cross-linking, the tolerance to pH 4.0 ~ 8.0 as well as the thermal stability of immobilized CRL at 40 ~ 80oC were both substantially increased, and 82 ± 2.1% activity remaining after the sixth reuse. The immobilized CRL was successfully applied to the resolution of racemic ibuprofen in non-aqueous phase. The initial reaction rate increased by 1.4- and 3.6-fold compared with the rates of adsorbed and native lipases, respectively. Furthermore, the R-ibuprofen was obtained at ee > 93%, and the enantiomeric ratio reached E > 140 at the conversion of 50 ± 1.5% within 48 h.
A Research on Information Science Applied to Regional Tourism Cooperation Performance
Wei Min 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of u- and e- Service, Scienc Vol.9 No.3
Information science is related to data-intensive, man-machine communication and interactional information application system with main aim to provide for both tourism enterprises and tourism consumers with high quality service. At present, there are two modes of information science roles which is popular used in tourism enterprises: one is mainly used in the international network marketing for their products (service) based on the information websites, the other is linked to the tourism cooperation organization with the demand of tourism products(service) in their special mode. Information science applied to regional tourism cooperation development always plays a more and more important role in the growth of tourism economy and development of tourism industry. In addition, the mature application of information science can effectively reduce the loss of benefits related to regional tourism industry development, but also bring about the asymmetry of the game rulers for the main economic interests of regional tourism cooperation. The findings are the application of information science for regional tourism industry can reduce the cost of the exchange between cooperative organizations and tourism economy growth, and the information science application also improves their own values of the main participants among the regional tourism cooperation performance.
Bioprospecting of Endophytic Fungi as Promising Anti-MRSA Agents
Wei, Yee-Min,Tan, Joo-Shun,Tang, Hock-Wei,Tong, Woei-Yenn,Leong, Chean-Ring,Tan, Wen-Nee The Korean Society of Pharmacognosy 2022 Natural Product Sciences Vol.28 No.3
Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a serious threat to the global healthcare system. Ineffective and resistance to antibiotic treatments have increased morbidity and mortality rates worldwide. New and effective antibiotics are needed to combat against bacterial resistance. Endophytic fungi are crucial reservoirs of novel bioactive metabolites. In particular, the secondary metabolites show promising therapeutic potential, notably, antibacterial. This review discussed the emerging potential of endophytic fungi as anti-MRSA agents. The ecological sources of endophytic fungi were discussed with the synthesis of bioactive metabolites. The mode of antibacterial actions was elucidated to give a better understanding of the mechanisms involved. This review may serve as an important reference for future discovery and developments of anti-MRSA agents from endophytic fungi.
Compressive Deformation Behavior of CrMnFeCoNi High-Entropy Alloy
Min Ji Jang,Soo-Hyun Joo,Che-Wei Tsai,Jien-Wei Yeh,Hyoung Seop Kim 대한금속·재료학회 2016 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.22 No.6
The compressive deformation behavior of a single phase CrMnFeCoNi high-entropy alloy (HEA) is investigatedusing experimental and theoretical approaches. The equiaxed microstructures are observed using optical microscope, electron backscattered diffraction, and synchrotron X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques. Compressiveresults reveal that the CrMnFeCoNi HEA has a high strain-hardening exponent in spite of its large grain sizedue to increased dislocation density and severe lattice distortion. The compressive texture of the HEA resemblesthose of typical FCC metals. The phenomenological dislocation-based constitutive model well describes thecompressive deformation behavior. The predicted dislocation density is in good quantitative agreement with theexperimental value measured using whole-profile fitting of synchrotron XRD peaks. It can be confirmed fromthe experimental and theoretical findings that the deformation mechanism of the CrMnFeCoNi HEA is theconventional dislocation glide and mechanical twinning is negligible contrary to general belief.

Background/Aims: In Taiwan, due to budget limitations, the National Health Insurance only allows for a limited period of biologics use in treating moderate to severe Crohn’s disease (CD). We aimed to access the outcomes of CD patients following a limited period use of biologics, specifically focusing on the relapse rate and remission duration; also the response rate to second use when applicable. Methods: This was a multicenter, retrospective, observational study and we enrolled CD patients who had been treated with adalimumab (ADA) according to the insurance guidelines from 2009 to 2015. Results: A total of 54 CD patients, with follow-up of more than 6 months after the withdrawal of ADA, were enrolled. The average period of treatment with ADA was 16.7±9.7 months. After discontinuing ADA, 59.3% patients suffered a clinical relapse. In the univariate analysis, the reason for withdrawal was a risk factor for relapse (P=0.042). In the multivariate analysis, current smoker became an important risk factor for relapse (OR, 3.9; 95% CI, 1.2-14.8; P=0.044) and male sex was another risk factor (OR, 2.9; 95% CI, 1.1-8.6; P=0.049). For those 48 patients who received a second round of biologics, the clinical response was seen in 60.4%, and 1 anaphylaxis occurred. Conclusions: Fifty-nine percent of patients experienced a relapse after discontinuing the limited period of ADA treatment, and most of them occurred within 1 year following cessation. Male sex and current smoker were risk factors for relapse. Though 60.4% of the relapse patients responded to ADA again. (Intest Res 2017;15:487-494)
