Background: Panax quinquefolius and Panax notoginseng are widely used and well known for their pharmacological effects. As main pharmacological components, saponins have different distribution patterns in the root tissues of Panax plants. Methods: In this study, the representative ginsenosides were detected and quantified by desorption electrospray ionization mass spectrometry and high-performance liquid chromatography analysis to demonstrate saponin distribution in the root tissues of P. quinquefolius and P. notoginseng, and saponin metabolite profiles were analyzed by metabolomes to obtain the biomarkers of different root tissues. Finally, the transcriptome analysis was performed to demonstrate the molecular mechanisms of saponin distribution by gene profiles. Results: There was saponin distribution in the root tissues differed between P. quinquefolius and P. notoginseng. Eight-eight and 24 potential biomarkers were detected by metabolome analysis, and a total of 340 and 122 transcripts involved in saponin synthesis that were positively correlated with the saponin contents (R > 0.6, P < 0.05) in the root tissues of P. quinquefolius and P. notoginseng, respectively. Among them, GDPS1, CYP51, CYP64, and UGT11 were significantly correlated with the contents of Rg1, Re, Rc, Rb2, and Rd in P. quinquefolius. UGT255 was markedly related to the content of R1; CYP74, CYP89, CYP100, CYP103, CYP109, and UGT190 were markedly correlated with the Rd content in P. notoginseng.
Research on Early Age Deformation of High Performance Concrete by Fiber Bragg Grating Sensor
Ying-Wei Yun,장일영 대한토목학회 2008 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.12 No.5
For high performance concrete (HPC), due to its low water cement ratio and addition of mineral admixtures, pretty high autogenous shrinkage and thermal deformation occur at early age of HPC casting (especially before hardening), which may lead to early age cracking of HPC structures, and influence the durability of HPC. This paper has monitored the early age properties of HPC successfully by embedded FBG strain sensor. The results show that the deformation increases rapidly within the first day after HPC casting. And its value is up to 57 me, which is the 35% of two-week deformation (165 me). Considering the durability and permeability of HPC, first-day deformation is pretty high and can not be neglected. Also, FBG monitoring system has been used to measure early age deformation and temperature of HPC retaining wall simultaneously. Temperature compensation for FBG strain sensor is always necessary for accurate strain monitoring. The monitoring technique used here can be extended to concrete early age behavior monitoring in mass concrete structure with any size.

In this paper, a direct torque control algorithm with novel duty cycle-based modulation is proposed for permanent magnet synchronous motor drives fed by neutral-point clamped three-level inverters. Compared with the standard DTC, the proposed algorithm can suppress steady-state torque ripples as well as ensure neutral-point potential balance and smooth vector switching. A unified torque/flux evaluation table with multiple voltage vectors and precise control levels is established and used in this method. This table can be used to evaluate the effects of duty-cycle vectors on torque and flux directly, and the elements of the table are independent of the motor parameters. Consequently, a high number of appropriate voltage vectors and their corresponding duty cycles can be selected as candidate vectors to reduce torque ripples by looking up the table. Furthermore, small vectors are incorporated into the table to ensure the neutral-point potential balance with the numerous candidate vectors. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm are verified by both simulations and experiments.

Purpose Undertaking a standard-setting exercise is a common method for setting pass/fail cut scores for high-stakes examinations. The recently introduced equal Z standard-setting method (EZ method) has been found to be a valid and effective alternative for the commonly used Angoff and Hofstee methods and their variants. The current study aims to estimate the minimum number of panelists required for obtaining acceptable and reliable cut scores using the EZ method. Methods The primary data were extracted from 31 panelists who used the EZ method for setting cut scores for a 12-station of medical school’s final objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) in Taiwan. For this study, a new data set composed of 1,000 random samples of different panel sizes, ranging from 5 to 25 panelists, was established and analyzed. Analysis of variance was performed to measure the differences in the cut scores set by the sampled groups, across all sizes within each station. Results On average, a panel of 10 experts or more yielded cut scores with confidence more than or equal to 90% and 15 experts yielded cut scores with confidence more than or equal to 95%. No significant differences in cut scores associated with panel size were identified for panels of 5 or more experts. Conclusion The EZ method was found to be valid and feasible. Less than an hour was required for 12 panelists to assess 12 OSCE stations. Calculating the cut scores required only basic statistical skills.
ECG Signal Denoising Based on Improved MP Algorithm
Wei A-ying,Guo Yin-jing,Cheng Xue-zhen 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Signal Processing, Image Vol.8 No.11
The electrocardiogram (ECG) signal processing plays an important role in diagnosing cardiopathy. Sparse decomposition provides a new tool for ECG signal processing. Matching pursuit (MP) algorithm uses overcomplete dictionary to decompose the signal, so it can reflect the properties of the signal. In decomposition process, searching a best atom of the dictionary is an optimal problem; Genetic Algorithm (GA) is used to solve this problem. This paper proposed an improved MP algorithm based on GA to denoise the ECG signal, whose dictionary is composed of Gabor atoms. The experiment simulation results show that the proposed method can get a good denosing effect in a shorter time than not use GA algorithm.

Background: Premixed hypotonic solutions of 0.33% saline + 5% dextrose + 10mmol/ L potassium-chloride (0.33S, tonicity 133mEq/L) and 0.9% saline ±dextrose (NS, tonicity 308mEq/L) are common peri-operative maintenance fiuids, but their effects on serum biochemistry are unclear. Methods: Using a single-centre, prospectively-maintained electronic database, we retrospectively examined post-operative biochemistry in adults maintained on exclusively 0.33S or NS peri-operatively, from March 2012 to September 2013. Outcomes included new-onset post-operative hyponatremia, hypokalaemia, hypoglycaemia, and acute kidney injury (AKI, =1.5x increase in serum creatinine); multivariate analyses were adjusted for demographics, comorbidities, surgery-types/duration, infusion time/ volumes, and hospital length-of-stay. Results: We studied 279 patients given 0.33S, and 279 NS controls matched for cumulative infusion volume. Mean age was 59(±18) years. More NS patients had diabetes mellitus, ischemic heart disease and chronic kidney disease (p<0.05). Surgery types included gastrointestinal/hepatobiliary (43%), orthopaedic (30%) and nephrectomy (3%). Mean fi uid volumes administered were 6.9(±3.3)L of 0.33S and 7.1(±5.6)L of NS (p=0.57), with 100% versus 52% of drips containing dextrose, respectively. More 0.33S patients (versus NS) developed hyponatremia (30% versus 17%, p<0.001); this difference was signifi cant for gastrointestinal/hepatobiliary (p=0.001) but not orthopaedic (p=0.74) surgeries. Less 0.33S patients (versus NS) had hypokalaemia (1% versus 10%, p<0.001), hypoglycaemia (1% versus 4%, p=0.01), and AKI (3% versus 8%, p=0.007). On multivariate analyses, 0.33S, gastrointestinal/hepatobiliary surgeries and nephrectomy were independently associated with hyponatremia; while NS, hypertension, longer infusion hours, and nephrectomy were independently associated with AKI (p<0.05). Conclusions: 0.33S infusion in post-surgical patients, especially post-gastrointestinal/ hepatobiliary surgeries, is strongly associated with hyponatremia, but with less hypokalaemia or hypoglycaemia, compared with NS. The association between NS administration and AKI is heavily confounded by baseline comorbidities and requires further prospective evaluation. Both fi uid types are not appropriate for isolated use, and more balanced maintenance fi uids are desired.

Highly thermally stable Ni germanide technology for high performance germanium metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors (Ge MOSFETs) is proposed, utilizing Pd incorporation into Ni germanide. The proposed Ni germanide shows not only the improvement of thermal stability but also the reduction of hole barrier height, which can improve the device on-current by reducing the Ni germanide to p+ source/drain contact resistance. The proposed Ni germanide showed a stable sheet resistance of up to 500 degrees C 30-min postgermanidation annealing due to the suppression of agglomeration and oxidation of Ni germanide and the diffusion of Ni and Ge atoms by the incorporated Pd. Therefore, the proposed Ni0.95Pd0.05, alloy could be promising for the high mobility Ge MOSFET applications.
