        Игра с дискурсивными практиками и литературными жанрами в творчестве Вл. Сорокина на материале романа «Голубое сало»

        This article is devoted to one of the popular modern Russian novels – “The Blue Fat” by Vladimir Sorokin. The highlight of the article is the transformation of classical literature discourses and genres in the novel. According to V.L. Shunikov, the style of the novel explicates the author’s creative intension, that’s why the narrative analysis is all-important for its adequate interpretation. This part of the novel poetics has never been subjected to a thorough investigation within the frames of contemporary humanities before: the article is aimed at filling up the gap. The stylistic experiment in Sorokin’s novel is connected with the epistolary discourse and is based on its epistolary literary genres first of all. It shows the way of this discourse transformation and the internal world of the novel itself compared with the classical epistolary prose. For example, - as only one character writes the letters, there is not even a chance for intercommunication, therefore the dialogue becomes virtual. While reading the letters we discover Boris Gloger’s passion, strong and sexually brutal, instead of that consequential development of sense, idealistic and platonic, characteristic of sentimental novels. Gloger’s intentions are even more complicated – the epistolary features of the letters are combined with the diary style. Vl. Sorokin does not only change the epistolary narrative and genres, but also saves some of their important elements. Boris Gloger is similar to characters of the 19th century Russian epistolary novels: he is “bestown” with loneliness and lack of understanding by the others. The novel internal world is quite pretentious because many genres are mixed in Sorokin’s work, science fiction among them. The new reality after a nuclear catastrophe is depicted in geopolitical and ethno-cultural peculiarity, alongside with the biology of new “humans” and their linguistic competence. The most interesting phenomenon in Sorokin’s novel is deconstruction of epistolary style idioms in the character’s pidgin. It makes the language of the novel “crossword-like” and altogether difficult for reader’s perception. The novel transformation of the epistolary discourse refreshes the very strategy of this genre thus proving its vitality in the contemporary literature. Эпатажность произведения В. Сорокина привела к тому, что его рассматривают исключительно как продукт металитературной игры, не имеющий никакой содержательной и эстетической ценности,- или едва ли не «шизоидный текст», направленный на экспликацию автором собственных комплексов и фобий. Анализ «Голубого сала» в сопоставлении с литературными жанрами и дискурсивными практиками позволяетболее последовательно представить истоки и способы эпатажа читательской аудитории – и вместе с тем увидеть позитивные итоги литературного эксперимента, проведенного Сорокиным. Произведение может быть рассмотрено как воплощение жанра эпистолярного романа в новейшей русской литературе, задающее векторы его дальнейшего развития.

      • Application of the Visualization through Stereoscopic Glasses in the Massage Therapy

        Objectives: The aim of this paper was the investigation of the relaxation effect after sports restorative massage in standard conditions and in conditions with additional impact by relaxing 3D VR video through stereoscopic glasses. According to the hypothesis of the study, the application of the visualization through stereoscopic glasses during the massage therapy will increase the effect of the massage. Methods: The contingent of the study was 25 Bulgarian students from the National Sports Academy. The age of the participants was 22-28 years old. The study had three conditions. The first condition included initial registration of the heart rate (HR) of every participant at rest, performance of the massage procedure in standard conditions and final HR fixation. The second condition contained initial HR measurement, combined massage with additional impact of relaxing 3D VR video through stereoscopic glasses and final HR measurement. In the third condition, a musculoskeletal state assessment of the participants was made. On this basis, the contingent for the investigation of the influence of relaxing 3D VR video on the pain symptoms was defined. The measure procedures included HR measurement, skin fold lift test and visual analog scale for assessment of the skin resistance in the affected area and pain sensation survey. Results: All of the results were with an extremely statistical significance. The heart rate variation before the massage (74.4bpm), after the massage procedure in normal conditions (65.7bpm), and after the massage with additional 3D VR visualization (57.6bpm) was found. Five participants have been diagnosed with resistance and strong pain in the lumbar spine. After a restorative massage with the additional impact of the audio visualization through the virtual reality glasses, painful symptoms were not observed. Conclusions: The analysis of the results proved the correctness of the hypothesis of the study. The investigation found that the applying relaxing 3D visualization through stereoscopic glasses during massage therapy leads to increase of the restorative effect and to the reduction of the pain symptoms.

        SEVERE ACCIDENT MANAGEMENT CONCEPT OF THE VVER-1000 AND THE JUSTIFICATION OF CORIUM RETENTION IN A CRUCIBLE-TYPE CORE CATCHER

        First ex-vessel core catcher has been applied to the practical design of NPPs with VVER-1000 reactors built in China (Tyanvan) and India (Kudankulam) for severe accident management (SAM) and mitigation of SA consequences. The paper presents the concept and basic design of this crucible-type core catcher as well as an evaluation of its efficiency. The important role of oxidic sacrificial material is discussed. Insight into the behaviour of the molten pool, which forms in the catcher after core relocation from the reactor vessel, is provided. It is shown that heat loads on the water-cooled vessel walls are kept within acceptable limits and that the necessary margins for departure from nucleate boiling (DNB) and of vessel failure caused by thermo-mechanical stress are satisfactorily provided for.

        Ultramicrotomy was used to prepare a cross-section of shell-like amorphous SiO2 spherical particle synthesized by the multistage Stöber method which allowed performing first direct observations of the hierarchical structure of the SiO2 particle by transmission and scanning electron microscopy. The presence of primary, secondary and tertiary particles forming the inner structure of SiO2 spheres was established. The use of the small angle scattering of neutrons and synchrotron radiation techniques has enabled to define the size of the primary particles, the fractal parameters of their surface and the bulk density of the SiO2 spheres.

      • Thick brane solutions

        <P>This paper gives a comprehensive review on thick brane solutions and related topics. Such models have attracted much attention from many aspects since the birth of the brane world scenario. In many works, it has been usually assumed that a brane is an infinitely thin object; however, in more general situations, one can no longer assume this. It is also widely considered that more fundamental theories such as string theory would have a minimal length scale. Many multidimensional field theories coupled to gravitation have exact solutions of gravitating topological defects, which can represent our brane world. The inclusion of brane thickness can realize a variety of possible brane world models. Given our understanding, the known solutions can be classified into topologically non-trivial solutions and trivial ones. The former class contains solutions of a single scalar (domain walls), multi-scalar, gauge-Higgs (vortices), Weyl gravity and so on. As an example of the latter class, we consider solutions of two interacting scalar fields. Approaches to obtain cosmological equations in the thick brane world are reviewed. Solutions with spatially extended branes (S-branes) and those with an extra time-like direction are also discussed.</P>

      • Synthesis of polymer - based inverted opal and transformation of its optical properties

        We have obtained opal-like photonic crystals based on opals and inverted opals exhibiting a shift of the selective reflection band toward longer and shorter wavelengths with respect to the diffraction band of the initial opal consisting of $SiO_2$ spheres. The contribution of frames forming three-dimensional periodic structures and that of fillers to the spectral arrangement of the diffraction bands has been determined.

      • Isolation of circular yeast artificial chromosomes for synthetic biology and functional genomics studies

        Circular yeast artificial chromosomes (YACs) provide significant advantages for cloning and manipulating large segments of genomic DNA in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. However, it has been difficult to exploit these advantages, because circular YACs are difficult to isolate and purify. Here we describe a method for purification of large circular YACs that is more reliable compared with previously described protocols. This method has been used to purify YACs up to 600 kb in size. The purified YAC DNA is suitable for restriction enzyme digestion, DNA sequencing and functional studies. For example, YACs carrying full-size genes can be purified from yeast and used for transfection into mammalian cells or for the construction of a synthetic genome that can be used to produce a synthetic cell. This method for isolating high-quality YAC DNA in microgram quantities should be valuable for functional and synthetic genomic studies. The entire protocol takes ∼3 d to complete.
