      • Grandparenting Practices in Shaping Early Childhood Resilience: A Case Study in Lampung Province, Indonesia

Vivi Irzalinda(Vivi Irzalinda ),Devi Nawang Sasi(Devi Nawang Sasi ) The Pacific Early Childhood Education Research Ass 2024 Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhoo Vol.18 No.1

In Indonesia, there are many cases of care by grandparents. Many things can cause this to happen, such as parents working outside the home, commuter families, parental divorce, maternal depression, parental death, and economic problems that drive parents to work abroad. A child's childhood experiences and nurturing environment are determinants of well-being throughout the life course. In addition to parental care, nurturing and close grandparent-grandchild relationships in childhood are particularly important as these lay the foundation for strong relationships in adulthood. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between grandparenting practices and early childhood resilience. This study used quantitative methods. The research location was in Lampung Province, Indonesia. The sampling method used snowball sampling method. The number of respondents was 75 grandparents and 75 early childhood children, with the condition that families who live with grandparents (grandparenting) and have early childhood aged 1-6 years. Data collection methods using survey techniques using a questionnaire scale. Data analysis using descriptive test and spearman correlation test. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that the largest percentage (49.3%) of respondents have grandmother's age in the young elderly category (60-69 years). The largest percentage (32.0%) of grandmother respondents had an elementary school education level. The largest percentage (72%) of respondents had moderate grandparenting practices with an average of 57.4 percent. The largest percentage (92.0%) stated that early childhood resilience was in the high category with an average of 88.6 percent. Based on the relationship analysis, it is known that there is a positive significant relationship between the positive encouragement dimension variables and the individual dimensions of children's resilience. There is a positive significant relationship between the variables of positive encourageme and grandparent-grandchildren relationship with the dimension of relationships with caregivers. In addition, there is a relationship between positive encourageme and grandparent-grandchildren relationship variables with child resilience variables.

Temporary Dominance of Exotic Plant Species on Overburden Coal Mines in South Kalimantan

Vivi Novianti National Institute of Ecology 2023 국립생태원회보(PNIE) Vol.4 No.1

Primary succession on bare rocks is a challenge for invaders, including one of which was plants. The invasion of bare rock by exotic species raises the question of whether their presence hinders or facilitates succession. This study aimed to determine the role of exotic species in primary succession in six overburden (OB) coal mines using a chronosequence approach. Vegetation analysis was undertaken using line transects. Measurements were carried out on the absolute and relative coverage of each species. Native and exotic species were identified and grouped using information from local communities, identification books, and websites. The relationship between time and number of species, time, and relative dominance of exotic and native species was analyzed using Pearson's correlation. Species number and dominance data were analyzed descriptively. The number of native species from the six OB heaps was higher (57) than that from exotic heaps (50). Neither the number of species nor the coverage showed a significant relationship with time. Exotic species predominated throughout the age of the embankment but tended to decrease over time. Temporary dominance by exotic species plays a role in assisting primary succession in the OB. This process might be prolonged without the temporary dominance of exotic species during early primary succession.

      • Business Leader’s Behaviors in the Case of Retirement and Successor’s Acceptance: A Men/Woman Comparative Case Study

        Vivi Koffi,Jean Lorrain KINFORMS 2010 Management Review Vol.5 No.2

The problematic issue of successor‘s acceptance in a family business has not yet reached researchers‘ attention. This comparative case study put the emphasis on how men/women predecessors will bring their business people toward successors‘ acceptance. The results reveal that, when predecessors put their confidence into themselves, they will adopt, in turn, different behavioral strategies than their own. In doing so, the successor‘s acceptance process by company personnel differs depending on the predecessor‘s gender. This study shows the importance to take into account the predecessor‘s gender in future studies on family succession of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs).

Risk factors for childhood pneumonia: a case-control study in a high prevalence area in Indonesia

Sutriana, Vivi Ninda,Sitaresmi, Mei Neni,Wahab, Abdul The Korean Pediatric Society 2021 Clinical and Experimental Pediatrics (CEP) Vol.64 No.11

Background: Acute respiratory infections (ARIs), especially pneumonia, remain a major cause of infant mortality worldwide. In Indonesia, pneumonia is the second most common cause of infant and toddler deaths. Exclusive breastfeeding and basic immunization can protect infants and children from contracting pneumonia. Purpose: Our goal was to assess the risk factors for childhood pneumonia in regions with a high prevalence of pneumonia in Indonesia. Methods: This case-control study was conducted between March and April 2019. A total of 176 infants and toddlers aged 10-59 months were enrolled and selected from among patients who visited the community health center. Cases of pneumonia were diagnosed clinically based on the World Health Organization guidelines, and the control was nonpneumonia. Results: The risk factors for the diagnosis of pneumonia included no or nonexclusive breastfeeding (odds ratio [OR], 7.95; 95% confidence interval [CI], 3.52-17.94), incomplete basic immunizations (OR, 4.47; 95% CI, 2.22-8.99), indoor air pollution (OR, 7.12; 95% CI, 3.03-16.70), low birth weight (OR, 3.27; 95% CI, 1.19-8.92), and a high degree of wasting (OR, 2.77; 95% CI, 1.06-7.17). Other variables such as nutritional status (height-for-age z score), age, sex, and educational status of the mother were not risk factors for pneumonia. Conclusion: No or nonexclusive breastfeeding, incomplete basic immunizations, indoor air pollution, a history of low birth weight, and severe malnutrition were risk factors for childhood pneumonia. Breastfeeding was the dominant factor, while sex modified the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of pneumonia.

      • Managing Creativity and Innovation in the Cultural Industries: Evidence from Three Cultural Organizations in Canada

        Alidou Ouedraogo,Vivi Koffi KINFORMS 2018 Management Review Vol.13 No.2

In a changing environment, the survival of small organizations becomes critically important not only for themselves but for the competitiveness in an entire given territory. Thus, creativity and innovation in any organization are vital to its successful performance. Therefore, knowledge or idea exchange is an important function of groups in organizations. Idea sharing in groups can be productive under two conditions. One important factor is the extent to which group members carefully process the ideas exchanged in the group. Another is the opportunity for group members to reflect on the ideas after the exchange process. Consequently, this research study aims to identify how organizational creativity and innovation contribute to the success of small organizations in the francophone linguistic minority region in Canada. We based our research on the case study analysis of three cultural organizations in New Brunswick, which allowed us to identify a triptych of organizational creativity and innovation based on employees, clients, and the local community commitment.

Human spermatozoa anti-proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 4 synthesis using New Zealand rabbit for novel immunocontraception in males

        Dahril,Aulanni'am,Vivi Keumala,Akhmad Mustafa 대한비뇨의학회 2019 Investigative and Clinical Urology Vol.60 No.4

Purpose: Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 4 (PCSK4, a 54-kDa protease) is expressed in the plasma membrane of the acrosome in human spermatozoa. It plays a critical role in penetrating the zona pellucida. Synthesis of human anti-PCSK4 might be important for novel male immunocontraception. Materials and Methods: We used semen from adult males as the source of antigen (acrosomal PCSK4). Isolation and antigen characterization were done by immunohistochemistry followed by electrophoresis. Purification of PCSK4 was done by the electroelution method, followed by immunization with an animal model (Oryctolagus cuniculus). Antibody was collected, purified, and tested by using Western blot and dot blot. Antibody in vitro potential testing was performed on human spermatozoa by laser scanning microscopy with rhodamine stain under a light microscope and on rat spermatozoa. Results: Human anti-PCSK4 bound with PCSK4 on the head of human spermatozoa and could interfere with rat spermatozoa activity to penetrate the oocyte. Conclusions: The result of this study can be used as a basis to develop new immunocontraceptives targeted towards males. This study shows that antibodies from induction of PCSK4 from spermatozoa may hinder fertilization.

Bamboo Distribution Map for Planning the Development of Tourism Potential in Boon Pring Andeman Area

        Farah, Devy Atika,Dharmawan, Agus,Novianti, Vivi National Institute of Ecology 2021 국립생태원회보(PNIE) Vol.2 No.3

Sanankerto is one of pilot projects for tourism villages in Indonesia due to its natural tourism potential with a 24-ha bamboo forest located in Boon Pring Andeman area. However, the distribution of existing bamboo has never been identified or mapped. Thus, the mana gement is facing difficulty in planning and developing tourism potential as well as spatial management in the area. Therefore, the objectives of this study were to identify and analyze the structure of bamboo vegetation in the Boon Pring Tourism village an d to perform vegetation mapping. The type of research was descriptive exploratory with a cluster sampling technique (i.e., a two-stage cluster) covering an area of ± 10 ha. Bamboo vegetation analysis was performed by calculating diversity index (H'), evenness index (E), and Species Richness index (R). Data were collected through observation and interviews with local people and the manager to determine zonation division. Mapping of bamboo vegetation based on zoning was processed into thematic maps using ArcG is 10.3. Micro climatic factors were measured with three replications for each sub -cluster. Data were analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. Nine species of bamboo identified. Diversity, evenness, and species richness indices differed at each location. Activities of local communities, tourists, and manager determined the presence, number, and distribution of bamboo species. These bamboo distribution maps in three zoning (utilization, buffer, and core) can be used by manager for planning and developing natural tourism potential.
