LIOUVILLE THEOREMS FOR THE MULTIDIMENSIONAL FRACTIONAL BESSEL OPERATORS
Galli, Vanesa,Molina, Sandra,Quintero, Alejandro Korean Mathematical Society 2022 대한수학회논문집 Vol.37 No.4
In this paper, we establish Liouville type theorems for the fractional powers of multidimensional Bessel operators extending the results given in [6]. In order to do this, we consider the distributional point of view of fractional Bessel operators studied in [12].
Evaluation of a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Library System: Preliminary Results
Paul Golding,Vanesa Tennant 보안공학연구지원센터 2008 International Journal of Multimedia and Ubiquitous Vol.3 No.1
The literature has indicated that libraries in developed countries are fast growing early adopters of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. The adoption of RFID in supply chain has reported superior growth, spurred by mandate compliance from global retailers such as Wal-Mart and Target. Numerous tests have been performed in a variety of supply chain environment to determine the performance requirements, physical characteristics and limitations to achieve a near 100% read rate. However, the literature is sparse on reports of performance testing in a library setting, and results from supply chain testing should be reluctantly applied to other environments. Based on the above, this study addresses this gap in the literature with the execution of test cases to examine the operational efficiencies of the inventory reader and the self-check station. The study was conducted at a university library with a test sample of 200 books of different types. The factors examined include tag placement, reader orientation sensitivity, read distance, and metal and other possible sources of electromagnetic interference. Each test case was executed repeatedly and the accuracy rate was recorded. Additionally, a spectrum analyzer was used to monitor possible sources of interference. The preliminary findings suggested that mobile phones and wireless computers have no effect on the performance of the self-check station or inventory reader. In addition, the preliminary results also suggest that metallic shelves affect the performance of the inventory reader with reduced read rate accuracy.

<P>The lanthanide binuclear helicate [Eu2(LC2(CO2H))3] is coupled to avidin to yield a luminescent bioconjugate <B>EuB1</B> (<I>Q</I> = 9.3%, <I>τ</I>(5D0) = 2.17 ms). MALDI/TOF mass spectrometry confirms the covalent binding of the Eu chelate and UV-visible spectroscopy allows one to determine a luminophore/protein ratio equal to 3.2. Bio-affinity assays involving the recognition of a mucin-like protein expressed on human breast cancer MCF-7 cells by a biotinylated monoclonal antibody 5D10 to which <B>EuB1</B> is attached <I>via</I> avidin-biotin coupling demonstrate that (i) avidin activity is little affected by the coupling reaction and (ii) detection limits obtained by time-resolved (TR) luminescence with <B>EuB1</B> and a commercial Eu-avidin conjugate are one order of magnitude lower than those of an organic conjugate (FITC-streptavidin). In the second part of the paper, conditions for growing MCF-7 cells in 100–200 µm wide microchannels engraved in PDMS are established; we demonstrate that <B>EuB1</B> can be applied as effectively on this lab-on-a-chip device for the detection of tumour-associated antigens as on MCF-7 cells grown in normal culture vials. In order to exploit the versatility of the ligand used for self-assembling [Ln2(LC2(CO2H))3] helicates, which sensitizes the luminescence of both Eu<SMALL>III</SMALL> and Tb<SMALL>III</SMALL> ions, a dual on-chip assay is proposed in which estrogen receptors (ERs) and human epidermal growth factor receptors (Her2/<I>neu</I>) can be simultaneously detected on human breast cancer tissue sections. The Ln helicates are coupled to two secondary antibodies: ERs are visualized by red-emitting <B>EuB4</B> using goat anti-mouse IgG and Her2/<I>neu</I> receptors by green-emitting <B>TbB5</B> using goat anti-rabbit IgG. The fact that the assay is more than 6 times faster and requires 5 times less reactants than conventional immunohistochemical assays provides essential advantages over conventional immunohistochemistry for future clinical biomarker detection.</P> <P>Graphic Abstract</P><P>Lanthanide luminescent bioprobes (LLBs) combined with microfluidics and lab-on-a-chip technology lead to fast dual assays of cancerous tissue biomarkers. <IMG SRC='http://pubs.rsc.org/services/images/RSCpubs.ePlatform.Service.FreeContent.ImageService.svc/ImageService/image/GA?id=b922124g'> </P>
Direct synthesis of 2,5-dibutyl furandicarboxylates from galactaric acid
( Huynh Thanh Thien Nhan ),( Vanesa Teijeiro Seijas ),조진구 한국공업화학회 2014 한국공업화학회 연구논문 초록집 Vol.2014 No.1
2,5-Furan dicarboxylic acid (FDCA) is considered one of the top 12 building block compounds derived from biomass that can lead to a sustainable development of a new chemical platform. In this research, a onepot synthesis of 2,5-dibutyl furandicarboxylates - a diester of FDCA - was studied. Due to differences in physical properties, 2,5-dibutyl furandicarboxylates are easier to manipulated than FDCA. This can be an advantage for later processes. The synthesis was conducted directly from galactaric acid, also known as mucic acid, with several catalysts and solvents. For the best reaction condition, a study of sufficient catalyst amount and kinetic changes of the main compounds was done. As a result, reaction mechanism and purification method for the interested products was proposed.
Understanding a Core Pilin of the Type IVa Pili of Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans, PilV
( Araceli Hernández-sánchez ),( Edgar D. Páez-pérez ),( Elvia Alfaro-saldaña ),( Vanesa Olivares-illana ),( J. Viridiana García-meza ) 한국미생물생명공학회 2024 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.34 No.3
Pilins are protein subunits of pili. The pilins of type IV pili (T4P) in pathogenic bacteria are well characterized, but anything is known about the T4P proteins in acidophilic chemolithoautotrophic microorganisms such as the genus Acidithiobacillus. The interest in T4P of A. thiooxidans is because of their possible role in cell recruitment and bacterial aggregation on the surface of minerals during biooxidation of sulfide minerals. In this study we present a successful ad hoc methodology for the heterologous expression and purification of extracellular proteins such as the minor pilin PilV of the T4P of A. thiooxidans, a pilin exposed to extreme conditions of acidity and high oxidation-reduction potentials, and that interact with metal sulfides in an environment rich in dissolved minerals. Once obtained, the model structure of A. thiooxidans PilV revealed the core basic architecture of T4P pilins. Because of the acidophilic condition, we carried out in silico characterization of the protonation status of acidic and basic residues of PilV in order to calculate the ionization state at specific pH values and evaluated their pH stability. Further biophysical characterization was done using UV-visible and fluorescence spectroscopy and the results showed that PilV remains soluble and stable even after exposure to significant changes of pH. PilV has a unique amino acid composition that exhibits acid stability, with significant biotechnology implications such as biooxidation of sulfide minerals. The biophysics profiles of PilV open new paradigms about resilient proteins and stimulate the study of other pilins from extremophiles.
