In order to evaluate the reliability of rotor forgings, it is very important to know the actual size of the defects in the rotor forgings. The determination of the defect size requires the accurate non-destructivc measurement. However, there may be some differences between the reported size with the ultrasonic non-destructive testing method and the actual size of defects. These differences may be a severe cause of errors in evaluation of rotor forgings. So, the calculated size with "Master Curve" considering safety factor, which is usually larger than the reported size, has been used in evaluation of rotor forgings. The relation between EFBH (Equivalent Flat Bottom Hole) size measured by non-destructive method and the actual size by destructive method in many rotors manufactured at Doosan was investigated. In this investigation, "Master Curve" compensating the differences between UT reported size and actual size of defects in our rotor forgings was obtainable. The applicability of this "Master Curve" as a way of calculating the actual defect sizc was also investigated. For the evaluation of rotor forgings, it is experted that this "Master Curve" may be used to determine the accurate actual size of defects.

전자빔 증착법에 의해 유전체 박막을 현미경 슬라이드 위에 입혀서 光도파 실험을 행하였으며 박막재료로는 BaSiO₃, TiO₂, BaTiO₃등의 유전체를 선택하였다. BaSiO는 BaCO₃와 SiO₂를 1100℃의 반응온도에서 3시간 유지시킴으로써 합성하였고, BaTiO₃는 1000℃에서 12시간 반응시켜 타게트로 준비하였다. 형성된 박막의 두께 및 굴절율을 측정하였으며 BaSiO₃, TiO₂, BaTiO₃ 박막의 굴절율은 각각 1.68, 2.6, 2.45로서 좋은 결과를 얻었다. 光도파 손실 측정에 있어서는 입출력 프리즘을 박막도파관에 결합시켜 도파된 레이저빔의 결합각을 60。로하여 단위 길이당의 손실을 측정한 결과 BaSiO₃, TiO₂, BaTiO₃의 光도파관의 손실은 각각 4(dB/cm), 6(dB/cm), 9(dB/cm)로서 비교적 양호한 도파특성을 얻었다. Dielectric optical waveguides (of BaSiO₃, TiO₂, and BaTiO₃) were fabricated on microscope slides by the electron-beam evaporation. As the targets for E-beam evaporation were selected BaSiO₃, TiO₂, BaTiO₃and each material is reacted by BaCO₃, SiO₂, TiO₂ under the appropriate conditions. Thicknesses and refractive indices of dielectric waveguides were measured and the results were consistent with the reported values. Loss measurements of laser beam in the optical waveguides per unit length were performed. The coupling angle of laser beam and prism was 60。 and losses per unit length of dielectric waveguides of BaSiO₃, TiO₂, BaTiO₃were 4(dB/cm), 6(dB/cm), 9(dB/cm) respectively.

전기경련치료(ECT)시 뇌파의 비선형 분석 : 단일증례 연구 A Single Case Study

연구목적 : 비선형 분석을 통해 전기경련 치료(ECT)의 적절성 및 효과를 판정할 수 있는 새로운 변인을 추출해 낼 가능성을 탐색하기 위하여 한 여성 우울증 환자에서 ECT중 기록한 뇌파의 단일증례 분석을 하였다. 방 법 : 1주일 간격을 둔 두 ECT 회기에서 치료전 안정상태, 마취후-경련전상태, 경련상태, 경련후 뇌파억제상태, 치료후 안정상태의 다섯 상태에 따른 뇌파를 디지털 기록한 데이터를 분석하였다. 결 과 : 분석의 결과 1) 뇌파가 10차원 이하 저차원의 결정론적 성질을 가지고있으며 2) 뇌파는 비정상적(non-stationary)이지만 비선형 지수들이 각 상태 뇌파를 안정적으로 구분해 줄 수 있고 3) ECT 회기의 진행에 따라 경련중 뇌파의 결정론적 성질이 증가하며 4) ECT 회기의 진행에 따라 치료전후 안정상태 뇌파의 최대발산지수(PLE) 및 상관차원이 증가한다는 사실을 관찰할 수 있었다. 결 론 : 단일증례에 대한 다양한 비선형 분석의 결과는 ECT의 치료효과를 정량화할 수 있는 변인으로서 PLE, 상관차원 등 비선형 변수들이 사용될 수 있을 가능성을 제시한다. Objectives : In order to search for new parameters for the evaluation of the adequacy of electroconvulsive therapy(ECT), the authors performed a non-linear analysis of electroencephalogram(EEG) recorded during the course of electroconvulsive therapy(ECT) in a single female patient with depression. Methods : Digitized EEG recordings from two ECT sessions spaced one week were analyzed at five different stages ; pretreatment stable, postanesthetic-preictal, ictal, postical suppression and posttreatment stable stages. Results : Our analysis showed that 1) EEG signals had low dimensional(below 10 dimensions) deterministic characteristics 2) although EEG was nonstationary signal, non-linear parameters could reliably differentiate between various stages we examined. 3) the deterministic property of ictal EEG increased according to the progression of sessions and 4) the primary Lyapunov exponent(PLE) and correlation dimension of pre- and post-treatment stable stage EEG increased according to the progression of sessions. Conclusion : In this single case study, results of various non-linear analyses suggested that non-linear variables extracted from EEG recordings during ECT may have utilities as tools for the quantitative evaluation of ECT.

To increase performance of vowel classification, modular TDNN architecture associated with 2 states input layer has been suggested.
Mapping of the Reduced Culm Number Trait in Rice (Oryza sativa L.) rcn10(t) Mutant

In rice, tillering is an important trait determining yield. To study tillering at the agricultural and molecular aspects, we have examined a spontaneous rice mutant that showed reduction in the number of culms. The mutant was derived from a F6 line of the cross of Junambyeo*4 / IR72. It could produce, on average, 4 tillers per hill in the paddy field while wild-type plants usually have 15. Except the reduced culm numbers, they also show pale green phenotypes. The phenotypes of this mutant were co-segregated as the monogenic Mendelian ratio (χ2 = 0.002, p = 0.969). In order to locate a gene responsible for the rcn phenotype, the mutant with the japonica genetic background was crossed with Milyang21 of the indica background. Bulked segregant analysis was used for rapid determination of chromosomal location. Three SSR markers (RM551, RM8213, and RM16467) on chromosome 4 were genetically associated with the mutant phenotype. Each of the 217 F2 plants was genotyped with simple sequence length polymorphisms. The data showed that RM16572 on chromosome 4 was the closest marker that showed perfect co-segregation among the F2 population. We suggest the new rcn gene studied here name as rcn10t because there was no report which exhibit a rcn phenotype with a pleiotropic effect of pale green (chlorophyll deficiency), and mapped at same position on chromosome 4.

The study was conducted to investigate the responses of the hepatic microsomal cytochrome P450 monooxygenase system in the rock bream Oplegnathus fasciatus after chronic exposure to 0, 1, 2, 4, and 8 μg/L tributyltin (TBT) concentrations for 4 weeks. Hepatic cytochrome 450 content and ethoxyresorufin O-deethylation (EROD) activity were found to significantly increase in fish treated with the higher concentration of TBT (≥4 μg/L); however, no significant changes were observed in penthoxyresorufin Odeethylation (PROD) activity in all treated groups compared to the control group. These findings suggest that exposure to a low TBT concentration (≥4 μg/L) has the potential to induce cytochrome 450 content and EROD enzyme activity in hepatic tissue inthe rock bream.
