Objective This study aimed to evaluate the effect of cognitive training programs on the progression of dementia in patients with early stage Alzheimer’s disease dementia (ADD) at the day care center. Methods From January 2015 to December 2018, a total of 119 patients with early ADD were evaluated. All subjects were classified into two groups according to participate in cognitive training program in addition to usual standard clinical care. Changes in scores for minimental status examination-dementia screening (MMSE-DS) and clinical dementia rating-sum of boxes (CDR-SOB) during the 12 months were compared between two groups. Multivariable logistic regression analyses were performed. Results As compared to case-subjects (n=43), the MMSE-DS and CDR-SOB scores were significantly worse at 12 months in the control- subjects (n=76). A statistically significant difference between the two groups was observed due to changes in MMSE-DS (p=0.012) and CDR-SOB (p<0.001) scores. Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that the cognitive training program (odds ratio and 95% confidence interval: 0.225, 0.070-0.725) was independently associated with less progression of ADD. Conclusion The cognitive training program was associated with benefits in maintaining cognitive function for patients with earlystage ADD that were receiving medical treatment.
Trace Organic Contaminants in Sediments from Deep-sea Basin near Dokdo, Korea

Trace organic contaminants in deep-sea sediments near Dokdo were analyzed. Total PAMs concentration ranged 14.8-314 ng/g dry weight and high molecular weight PAHs were dominant. The highest PAHs concentration was detected at A19 which located at Ulleung Basin. Most of organochlorines were under detection limit. Among the detected organochlorines, DDT compounds were dominant and followed by HCHs and HCB. Butyltin compounds and most of organophosphorus pesticides were not detected. Vertical distribution of PAHs showed typical sub-surface maximum and decreasing trends depending on depth. The highest PAHs concentration reached 454ng/g. Some organochlorines, DDT, HCH was detected and also showed decreasing trends. Other target organic pollutants were not detected in core sediments. Abnormally high level of PAHs concentration in A19 was discussed and the input sources were inferred to be the transport of sludge derived pollutant dumped at dumping site 'Byung' by deep current.

There is no doubt that the Korean church has achieved a rate of quantitative growth in the history of missions, yet it is easy to find a decrease of children and youth compared with previous years. The actual reasons for this are the weaknesses of the programs for children and youth and the lack of training opportunity for church school teachers. This study shows how an education enable the church school teachers in the area of calling and role for teaching ministry The major emphasis for this study is the development of training program materials for vocational education. The most of Korean church shows that there are no regular plans to have adequate training programs for church school teachers even though they feel the essential need. As a theological and biblical background of calling and role for teacher, it describes that church school teachers should be faithful to the ministry of calling since they are stewards to teach and lead their students in spiritual growth. The vocational role training program will practice a small group class of seven to ten students, and a self-directed learning method. The expectations are summarize: 1) The program will effective in motivating teachers to call on their students; 2) The program will useful in terms of showing value of the teacher's calling and role in small churches; In conclusion, The vocational role training program will inspire the teachers with the importance of their teaching ministry. The recommendation is that the vocational role training program is essential for church school growth.

Artemisia annua L.(Compositae) is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine for treatment of fever and malaria. Artemisinin, an antimalarial principle, arteannuin B, and artemisinic acid, a biogenetic and semisynthetic precursor of artemisinin, were isolated from the plant. During the course of the isolation of artemisinic acid, we frequently observed a fibrous crystal which has a very different solubility pattern from artemisinic acid in organic solvents. Its ¹H-NMR spectra was almost: identical with that of artemisinic acid except upfield shifted olefinic signals. MS, IR, and UV spectra showed the same results as those of artemisinic acid. Through the two-dimensional NMR experiments, full ¹H- and ^(13)C- NMR assignments of the material were made and consequently characterized as 7-epi-artemisinic acid.
