Superficial venous thrombosis of the chest wall was first described by Mondor in 1939. Braun-Falco reported in 1955 superficial penile vein involvement in diffuse thrombophlebitis of the abdominal wall and in 1958 Helm and Hodge first described isolated superficial dorsal penile vein thrombosis. Since then, fewer than 50 cases have been reported. The clinical presentation is usually redness and swelling of the dorsum of the penis, accompanied by a palpable, tender thrombotic vein. This acute and painful disease frightens the patients, who is concerned about his fertility and sexual function. The main cause of this disease is frequent sexual intercourse. Diagnosis is based upon anamnesis, physical examination and penile sonography with color Doppler imaging. It is usually a benign disease which resolves quickly under appropriate medical therapy. We present a man who was visited for this condition and was conservatively treated.

Renal artery thrombosis may result from external trauma of a blunt nature. Such injury is induced by rapid deceleration resulting in the stretching of the renal vasculature, disruption of the arterial intima-the least elastic layer of the arterial wall and eventual thrombosis. The treatment of renal artery thrombosis is controversial, with physician's options divided between prompt surgical exploration with vascular repair and clinical observation. We experienced 1 case of traumatic renal artery thrombosis and report that with a brief review of the literature.

This study was done to determine the effect of lead acetate on the activities of the hepatic cytosolic xanthine oxidase and aldehyde oxidase which were well known as oxygen free radical generating enzyme in vitro. Lead ion accelerated the formation of lipid peroxide and the increment of xanthine oxidase(type O) activity and the type conversion ration from xanthine dehydrogenase to xanthine oxidase dose-dependently. But xanthine dehydrogenase(type D) activity was decreased. Aldehyde oxidase activity was not changed by lead ion. These data suggested that lead-induced cellular toxicity may be concerned partially with xanthine oxidase mediated lipid peroxidation.

Gastrodia elata is a medicinal plant which has been used as anticonvulsant in Korea, Japan and China. This study was conducted to examine the action mechanism of Gastrodia elata centering around the change of GABA and glutamic acid level in brain while observing the anticonvulsive effect in PTZ-induced seizure model Seizures were reduced effectively by pretreatment of ether soluble part of methanol extract of, Gastrodia elata. The pretreatment of ether soluble part inhibited not only the decreses of brain GABA level but also the increase of brain glutamic acid level observed in PTZ model of convulsive dose. Although there was not any change in glutamic acid level, the same development was also observed in the model of subconvulsive dose. From above results, it seems that the anticonvulsive component of Gastrodia elata is lipophilic, and its action mechanism is originated from both control action of GABA level and inhibition of glutaminergic neurotransmission.

Cervus elaphus for herb-acupuncture solution (CEHAS) was tested for the effects of free radical generating enzyme and lipid peroxidation in rat's kidney. In vitro, levels of lipid peroxide in tissues of kidney were proportionally decreased to concentration of extracts prepared from CEHAS. They were much more decreased, when lipid perocidation was inducesd with ferrous iron(Fe II). Also, enzyme activities of xanthine oxidase were decreased. The ratio of type conversion of zanthine oxidase was lowered, too. But, it was not seen changes on enzyme activities of aldehyde oxidase. These results suggest that CEHAS decrease the activities of free radical generating enzymes such as xanthine oxidase which form lipid peroxide.

In convulsion state by PTZ in rat, anticonvulsive effect and some γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-related mechanisms of Bythus extract in brain was experimented. It was ingibited GABA-T activity, lipid peroxide generation and xanthine oxidase activity as scheduled administration in vitro and vivo. And the content of brain gutathione was increased as scheduled administration in rat. In convulsion state by PTZ of previously managed rat by Buthus extract, onset eime and duration were non-specific changes but recovery time and severity was remarkably reduced. In conclusion speculated that Buthus extract inhibits convulsion by control of GABA content in brain.

본 논문에서는 OGC 의 공간 정보 인코딩 표준 명세인 GML 을 기반으로 공간 데이터 웨어하우스를 구축하는 스키마를 제안한다. GML 기반의 스키마는 비공간 정보뿐만 아니라 공간 정보에 대한 정의가 가능하다. 그리고 XML 스키마를 이용하여 전체 큐브 스키마, 차원 스키마 및 사실테이블에 대한 스키마 정의의 예를 보인다. 따라서 제안 기법은 GML 을 이용하여 이질적인 시스템간의 데이터 통합이 용이하고, 비공간 정보뿐만 아니라 공간 정보의 활용이 가능하다. 그리고 공간 데이터 웨어하우스의 개념계층 관계에 대한 표현이 용이하고 구조에 대한 이해가 쉽다.

Purpose: The application of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is beneficial for joint movements, inhibition of spasticity, and the improvement of walking ability in patients with chronic hemiplegia. This study aimed to identify the effect of the application of TENS to the knee extensor on the affected side with respect to postural-sway distance and velocity during the sit-to stand movement. Methods: We included 19 patients with post-stroke hemiplegia in this study. They underwent measurements during the sit-to stand movement on a force plate with 5 different stimulation dosages applied over 7 s:No TENS, high-frequency and high intensity TENS, high-frequency and low intensity TENS, low-frequency and high intensity TENS, and low-frequency and low intensity TENS The 5 different condition were administered in random order. Results: The group that received TENS application exhibited a significant decrease in path length and average velocity of center of pressure (COP) displacement compared with the group that did not receive TENS application. TENS dosage at low frequency (3Hz) and high intensity yielded a significant decrease in path length, average velocity, mediolateral distance and anteroposterior distance of COP displacement (p<0.05). Conclusion: Our results demonstrated the effectiveness of the application of low-frequency TENS on STS performance. These findings provide useful information on the application of TENS for the reduction of postural sway during the sit-to-stand movement after stroke.
