Effect of shear deformation on adhesive stresses in plated concrete beams: Analytical solutions

Mahmoud Touati,Abdelouahed Tounsi,Mohamed Benguediab 사단법인 한국계산역학회 2015 Computers and Concrete, An International Journal Vol.15 No.3

In this scientific work, an improved analytical solution for adhesive stresses in a concrete beam bonded with the FRP plate is developed by including the effect of the adherend shear deformations. The analysis is based on the deformation compatibility approach where both the shear and normal stresses are assumed to be invariant across the adhesive layer thickness. The shear stress distribution is supposed to be parabolic across the depth of the adherends in computing the adhesive shear stress and Timoshenko’s beam theory is employed in predicting adhesive normal stress to consider the shear deformation. Numerical results from the present analysis are presented both to demonstrate the advantages of the present solution over existing ones and to illustrate the main characteristics of adhesive stress distributions.

Photocatalytic degradation of textile wastewater in presence of hydrogen peroxide: Effect of cerium doping titania

Azza Touati,Tijani Hammedi,Wahiba Najjar,Zouhaier Ksibi,Sami Sayadi 한국공업화학회 2016 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.35 No.-

Ce–TiO2 catalysts synthesized through sol–gel method were explored for textile wastewaterphotocatalytic degradation in presence of H2O2. Synthesized materials were characterized by X-raydiffraction, Raman spectroscopy, UV–visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, N2 physisorption at 77 Kand H2-temperature programmed reduction. Suitable amount of cerium (1%) significantly inhibits theelectron–hole pairs recombination and reduces the energy gap values of the materials. 1% Ce–TiO2catalyst demonstrated superior catalytic performances permitting a 40% and 55% of TOC and colorconversions, respectively. The relationship between photocatalytic activity and physicochemicalproperties was discussed. Environmental impact of textile wastewater was evaluated by thebioluminescence test using the LUMIStox.

      • Fault Diagnosis with Adaptive Control for Discrete Event Systems

El Touati, Yamen,Ayari, Mohamed International Journal of Computer ScienceNetwork S 2021 International journal of computer science and netw Vol.21 No.11

Discrete event systems interact with the external environment to decide which action plan is adequate. Some of these interactions are not predictable in the modelling phase and require consequently an adaptation of the system to the metamorphosed behavior of the environment. One of the challenging issues is to guarantee safety behavior when failures tend to derive the system from normal status. In this paper we propose a framework to combine diagnose technique with adaptive control to avoid unsafe sate an maintain the normal behavior as long as possible.

      • Advanced Transverse Wave Approach for MM-Wave Analysis of Planar Antennas applied in 5G-Technology

Ayari, Mohamed,Touati, Yamen El,Altowaijri, Saleh International Journal of Computer ScienceNetwork S 2022 International journal of computer science and netw Vol.22 No.1

In this paper, a fast numerical electromagnetic (EM) method based on the transverse wave formulation called-up Advanced Transverse Wave Approach (A-TWA) is presented. An appropriate 5G antenna is designed, simulated and investigated in the context of Millimeter-Wave Wireless Communication Systems. The obtained simulation results are found in good agreement with literature. Such a method can provide for the simulators a great library integrating the most complexly and sensitively geometry elements that can have a huge impact on the applications supported by new wireless technologies.

Designing a mobile system for collaborative learning in a gamified quest based environment

        정복문,Achraf Touati,김영식 제주대학교 교육과학연구소 2017 교육과학연구 Vol.19 No.2

This study aims to design a mobile collaborative learning system with gamification techniques which would be a great help to students by taking advantage of the motivational power of games and applying it in the learning setting. In order to achieve this goal, this study adopts gamified learning strategies and combines game elements with mobile learning activities. Discussions on the created design of the collaborative learning system are made in terms of Malone’s (1980) motivation factors: challenge, curiosity, control, fantasy, cooperation, competition, and recognition. Through the designed game, players are expected to understand the characteristics of fossil energy and renewable energy by presenting various quests in the designed game, understand learning more deeply through the submission of quests, participate more actively in the game, and to enhance their collaboration and cooperation through social communication provided in the designed game.

Method of Moments versus Advanced Transverse Wave Approach for EM Validation of Complex Microwave and RF Applications

Mohamed Ayari,Yamen El Touati,Saleh Altowaijri 한국전자파학회JEES 2020 Journal of Electromagnetic Engineering and Science Vol.20 No.1

The art of benchmarking study has improved at an astonishing rate the scientific research in all areas but mainly in microwave engineering domain, and in particular, the field of microwave (MW) and radiofrequency (RF) integrated circuit design. Moreover, the fast simulation of complex MF/RF structures is considered a big challenge for the simulators, mainly in light of the continuous information and communication technology (ICT) development. In this context, the present paper sets out to present two important numerical electromagnetic (EM) methods, the method of moments (MOM) and our advanced transverse wave approach (A-TWA) for full-wave analysis of RF/MW structures. The computational complexity of these methods is evaluated. Two complex printed antennas working in the RF/MW range are selected and investigated. The EM problems that can be found in these circuits and that could not be solved analytically or by other numerical methods are discussed. The EM-validation of the studied structures using A-TWA and MOM is demonstrated and compared in the context of RF/MW applications. The obtained simulation results prove the efficiency and rapidity of our approach in comparison with the literature.

Dynamic analysis of steel frames with semi-rigid connections

Djouaher Fatma Zohra,Ihaddoudène Touati Abd Nacer 국제구조공학회 2018 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.65 No.3

In the steel structures design, beam-to-column connections are usually considered either rigid or pinned, while their actual behavior lies between these two ideal cases. This consideration has a major influence on the results of the local and the global behavior of steel structures. This influence is noticed in the case of a static analysis, and has an important effect in the case of a dynamic analysis. In fact, pinned and rigid nodes can be considered as two specific cases of a semi-rigid behavior. To study the efficiency of the classification adopted in Eurocode 3, a numerical simulation of semi-rigid nodes has been carried out using the software ANSYS. In the aim to validate this simulation, the numerical results are compared to those of an analytical approach. After that, the validated numerical simulation has been used, to evaluate the efficiency of the classification adopted by the Eurocode 3, regarding semi-rigid connections. Finally, a new method is proposed to define a more accurate evaluation about semi-rigid connections.

Vasopressin and oxytocin expression in hypothalamic supraoptic nucleus and plasma electrolytes changes in water-deprived male Meriones libycus

        Boumansour Lydia,Benhafri Nadir,Guillon Gilles,Corbani Maithe,Touati Hanane,Dekar-Madoui Aicha,Ouali-Hassenaoui Saliha 한국통합생물학회 2021 Animal cells and systems Vol.25 No.5

In mammals, plasmatic osmolality needs to be stable, and it is highly related to the hydric state of the animals which depends on the activity of the hypothalamic neurohypophysial system and more particularly by vasopressin secretion. Meriones, a desert rodent, can survive even without drinking for more than one month. The mechanism(s) by which they survive under these conditions remains poorly understood. In this study, we examine the water’s deprivation consequences on the: (1) anatomy, morphology, and physiology of the hypothalamic supraoptic nucleus, (2) body mass and plasma electrolytes changes in male desert rodents ‘Meriones libycus’ subjected to water deprivation for 30 days. The effect of water deprivation was evaluated on the structural and cellular organization of the supraoptic nucleus by morphological observations and immunohistochemical approaches, allowing the labeling of AVP but also oxytocin. Our finding demonstrated that upon water deprivation (1) the body weight decreased and reached a plateau after a month of water restriction. (2) The plasmatic osmolality began to decrease and return to values similar to control animals at day 30. (3) The SON, both in hydrated and water-deprived animals, is highly developed.(4) The AVP labeling in the SON increased upon dehydration at variance with OT. These changes observed in body mass and plasma osmolality reveal an important adaptive process of male Meriones in response to prolonged water deprivation. Overall, this animal represents an interesting model for the study of water body homeostasis and the mechanisms underlying the survival of desert rodents to xeric environments.
