Performance of the an ion-implantation system for low-temperature poly-Si TFT was improved to meet various requirements for fabrication of high-quality LCD and OLED displays. With the unique inductively coupled plasma ion source, the deviation of ion beam current density was reduced to less than 3 %; 1 over 730 × 920 mm substrate. The “mini”-uniformity in a display panel was also improved by optimizing the ion beam extraction electrodes.

A fundamental study on whether improvements in self-healing performance can be achieved by mixing into concrete granules of self-healing agent whose main component is geo-materials instead of self-healing agent in powder form, for the purpose of preventing leakage of water through cracks was investigated. The aim of this research is rapid slump loss compensation based on the granulation process of self-healing agent whose main component is geo-materials that have high reactivity with water and includes a long-term retention of the self-healing capability of concrete incorporating self-healing agent. Comparison of concretes commercially prepared by blending in self-healing agent at ready mixed concrete plants established, through laboratory and field tests, that the 40 kg/m3 granule admixtures based on self-healing agent as a fine aggregate replacement improved he slump of ready mixed concrete and showed a high water leakage prevention effect through self-healing of cracks even after the lapse of 8 months.

In Electronic Systems Research Center (ESRC), various researches have been conducted to realize defenseradars with excellent functions and performance. This presentation introduces some of those radar research programs.Especially, the research concerning active phased array antenna started in an early stage of the 1970s. Successive various basic research programs have been conducted and finally led to successful development of first airborne active phased array antenna radar, J/APG-1, in Japan. The multifunction RF (Radio Frequency) sensor, the passive radar, the wall through radar and the space time adaptive processing are under research at present.
Optical anisotropy and surface morphology of InGaAs lattice-mismatched with GaAs(0 0 1)

We investigated surface morphology and optical anisotropy of strained InGaAs lms grown on GaAs(001) substrate usingatomic force microscopy (AFM) and reectance dierence/reectance anisotropy spectroscopy (RDS/RAS). High temperature(HT)-grown samples were found to have a rippled surface structure, however for lms grown using a low temperature (LT) growthtechnique, the surface morphology was signicantly improved, without the ripple structure seen on the HT samples. Furthermore,ex situ RD spectra of LT-grown samples showed notable peaks near the critical energies of band structure originated from bulkelectronic transitions.
Keystroke Timing Analysis for Individual Identification in Japanese Free Text Typing

We developed Web-based typing software in order to collect keystroke data on a LAN, and in vestigated several characteristics of keystroke dynamics in Japanese free text typing. We performed experiments on 112 subjects, representing three groups according to the number of letters they could type in five minutes. In this experiment, we extracted the feature indices from the keystroke timing for each single letter and for two-letter combinations composed of consonant and vowel pairsin Japanese text. Based on an identification method using a weighted Euclid distance, personal identification for the three groups was evaluated and its high performance was confirmed in proportion to the typing level of the group.

Temperatures of three bearing and seal parts of a swash plate type axial piston pump were measured simultaneously using a slip ring with thermocouples' amplifiers. The rotating cylinder block had five thermocouples, the swash-plate had four, and the valve-plate had four. Three sets of pistons with different diameters were prepared. Hydraulic mineral oil with VG22 and a water–glycol type hydraulic oil with VG32 were used as test fluids. The maximum discharge pressure was 20 MPa; the maximum rotational speed was 25 rps. The inlet oil temperature was 20-40°C. Temperatures and temperature differences between the bottom-dead-center and the top-dead-center increased concomitantly with the discharge pressure. For larger piston clearance ratios, the temperatures rose monotonically. The bearing and seal parts were markedly hotter than the discharge oil. Temperatures rose much less using the water–glycol type oil than when using the mineral oil.
