Large-size ceramic/metal bulk FGMs have been fabricated on a recently developed and the world's largest Spark Plasma Sintering(SPS) systems, As a part of the development program for practical production processes and machines for FGMs by SPS, the processes, mechanical properties, dimensional size and shape effects, and production machine systems were investigated. In the past, /TiAI, /Ni, /Ti, WC/Co, WC/Co/Steel, A1/P, Polymide, Cu/Polymide, nano-composites, porous and other combinations of bulk FGMs have already been processed using SPS. However, most of the specimen sizes were small, in a range of 20 to 30mm in diameter. Recently disk-shape sintered compacts with diameters of 100 and 150 mm, and thickness of approximately 15 and 17 mm, (3Y)/ stainless steel FGMs were homogenous consolidated in a shorter sintering time, while maintaining high quality and repeatability by utilizing a temperature gradient sintering method. The SPS heating up and holding time totaled less than one hour. Therefore, the SPS process in expected to find increased use in the fabrication of large-size FGMs as a new industrial processing technology. This paper introduces SPS systems, the processing principles, features and the characteristies of ceramic/metal bulk FGM.

An experiment was conducted to investigate amino acid composition of three tropical legumes (Cooper (Glycine wightii), Tinaroo (Neonotonia wightii) and Siratro (Macroptilium atropurpureum)) at two different stages (pre-blooming and blooming stages). Chemical composition and totally 16 amino acids of these plants were analysed for comparison of their composition among species at different growing stages and characterizing the amino acid pattern of these legumes. Crude protein content of the plants ranged from 16% to 27% on a dry matter basis. The total amount of 16 amino acids analyzed in this experiment was highest at 89.7 mg/16 g N in Cooper at pre-blooming and lowest at 80.9 mg/16 g N in Glycine at blooming stage. Total amount of amino acids in each legume species tended to slightly decrease with their maturity but no statistical difference was found. The percentage of aspartic acid, glutamic acid and proline in the total amount of amino acids was dominant at 9% to 13%, and that of methionine was less than 1.6%. In this experiment it was concluded that three tropical legumes were rich in crude protein content and characterized by 16 different amino acids with lower sulfur-containing amino acid as methionine.

Purpose: Golimumab (GLM) is an anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α antibody preparation known to be less immunogenic than infliximab (IFX) or adalimumab. Few reports on GLM in pediatric patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) are available. This study aimed to review the long-term durability and safety of GLM in a pediatric center. Methods: The medical records of 17 pediatric patients (eight boys and nine girls) who received GLM at the National Center for Child Health and Development were retrospectively reviewed. Results: The median age at GLM initiation was 13.9 (interquartile range 12.0–16.3) years. Fourteen patients had pancolitis, and 11 had severe disease (pediatric ulcerative colitis activity index ≥65). Ten patients were biologic-naïve, and 50% achieved corticosteroid-free remission at week 54. Two patients discontinued prior anti-TNF-α agents because of adverse events during remission. Both showed responses to GLM without unfavorable events through week 54. However, the efficacy of GLM in patients who showed primary nonresponse or loss of response to IFX was limited. Four of the five patients showed non-response at week 54. Patients with severe disease had significantly lower corticosteroid-free remission rate at week 54 than those without severe disease. No severe adverse events were observed during the study period. Conclusion: GLM appears to be safe and useful for pediatric patients with UC. Patients with mild to moderate disease who responded to but had some adverse events with prior biologics may be good candidates for GLM. Its safety and low immunogenicity profile serve as favorable options for selected children with UC.

In this article describe the meaning of shu-ho performed by Emperor of Go-Toba when Incident of Kagetoki Kajiwara. In February 1200, Go-Toba practiced an esoteric Buddhism method called "Godanho". It purpose to cure illness of emperor and pray for the social well-being of the country. Go-Toba’s ‘Godanho’ was interpreted as a curse by Kamakura shogunate who suspected Go-Toba had committed with Kagetoki. In other words, it blessed him and expressed hostile to shogunate. However, the same time, Go-Toba practiced another shu-ho called "Tenpo-Rinpo’. It’s a extraordinarily curse. It compared that both ‘Godanho’ and ‘Tenopo-Rinpo ’ in this research. As a result, The plan of a comparison of these two types of practices, I conclude that Kajiwara Kagetoki"s plan to make a pilgrimage to Kyoto was a realistic one and that Go-Toba conducted the practice to protect Kyoto from warfare. The possibility of Kagetoki’s entering Kyoto was came up, and so, Go-Toba attempted practicing shu-ho to give divine protection Kyoto.

<P>A unique two-dimensional (2D) long-range structure has been observed in a low-temperature phase X1 for a banana molecule having bromine atom substituted on the central core using synchrotron radiation (SR) x-ray scattering measurements. The X1 phase is formed from the B2 phase with the SmC(A)P(A) structure upon cooling and then shows multiple reflections around the first layer line, which are interpreted as a peculiar frustrated structure with long-range layer modulation order. Furthermore, the observation of a well-defined (100) reflection with a spacing of 171A means that there is the electron density modulation along the layers. By coupling these reflections, a 2D lattice with a=173 A, c=53.4A, and beta=81.1 degrees, is determined where the a axis is parallel to the original layer of the phase. This unique structure with modulation can be interpreted as an undulated layer structure and suggested to be the result from deformation with polarization splay defects periodically occurring along the layer. The angle, beta=81.1 degrees, between a and c axes indicates that the position of splay defects in one layer is staggered from that in the neighboring layer. In other words, the splay defect lines run in a direction tilted by roughly 80 degrees with respect to the a axis.</P>

A new series of chiral bent-shaped liquid crystals with an asymmetric central core based on 1,6-dihydroxynaphthalene and chiral terminal chain prepared from (S)-(-)-2-methyl-1-butanol, 1,6-naphthalene bis[4-(4-alkoxyphenyliminomethyl)]benzoates [N(1,6)-n-O-PIMB(n-2)*-(n-4)O (n = 8-11)] were synthesized. Their mesomorphic properties and phase structures were investigated by means of electro-optical, polarization reversal current, and second harmonic generation measurements in order to confirm the relationship between the molecular structure and phase structure. All odd n (n = 9 and 11) compounds, N(1,6)-9-O-PIMB7*-5O and N(1,6)-11-O-PIMB9*-7O exhibit antiferroelectric phase, whereas even n (n = 8 and 10) compounds was flexible, N(1,6)-10-O-PIMB8*-6O exhibits the ferroelectric phase but N(1,6)-8-O-PIMB6*-4O exhibits the antiferroelectric phase. These results come from the decrease of the closed packing efficiency within a layer and the lack of uniform interlayer interaction between adjacent layers, which were caused by the asymmetrical naphthalene central core. Thus, we concluded that the structure of central core as well as the terminal chain plays an important role for the emergence of particular polar ordering in phase structures.
