      • ONLINE JANUSIAN BRAND PERSONALITY: HOW MUCH DO CLIENTS AND HOTELIERS CONVERGE?

        Flavio Tiago,Jos? Manuel Ver?ssimo,Teresa Borges-Tiago,Tiago Silva 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2018 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2018 No.07

In a virtual world, firms and individuals are connected through multiple devices and channels, whereby both act as content creators. The relevance of customer co-creation for brand-building in digital environments requires further research (Ramaswamy and Ozcan, 2016). From a growing body of research, a stream suggests that technology is changing the way consumers and firms interact, whereby consumers perceive brand image to be the sum of all brand online and offline information. Another stream assumes that consumers perceive brands as having personality characteristics, which are used to differentiate them from competitors. For this latter approach, Aaker’s (1997) model is widely used to analyse brand personality (BPS). However, no evidences has been found regarding to what extent firms and customers communicate the same brand values. We accomplish this by analysing the brand personality dimensions communicated online by two international hotel chains (Pestana & FourSeasons) and their clients, using two different digital channels, namely: 12 websites and 600 TripAdvisor comments. A content analysis was carried out using the BPS dictionary of WordStat software, created by Opoku et al. (2006), which contains 833 words, divided into the five BPS categories. The results show that most of the content was created by clients (89% of messages). FourSeasons hotels communicate Excitement and Sophistication, whereas Pestana hotels communicate Sincerity and Sophistication. Sincerity is the highest tagged dimension of the BPS references, both for FourSeasons and for Pestana, which suggests that clients tend to perceive both brands as being reputable. In summary, although clients and hotels converge with regards to hotel brand personality traits, distinctive brand personalities emerge.

Effects of Mikania glomerata Spreng. and Mikania laevigata Schultz Bip. ex Baker (Asteraceae) Extracts on Pulmonary Inflammation and Oxidative Stress Caused by Acute Coal Dust Exposure

        Tiago P. Freitas,Paulo C. Silveira,Luís G. Rocha,Gislaine T. Rezin,João Rocha,Vanilde Citadini-Zanette,Pedro T. Romão,Felipe Dal-Pizzol,Ricardo A. Pinho,Vanessa M. Andrade,Emilio L. Streck 한국식품영양과학회 2008 Journal of medicinal food Vol.11 No.4

Several studies have reported biological effects of Mikania glomerata and Mikania laevigata, used in Brazilian folk medicine for respiratory diseases. Pneumoconiosis is characterized by pulmonary inflammation caused by coal dust exposure. In this work, we evaluated the effect of pretreatment with M. glomerata and M. laevigata extracts (MGE and MLE, respectively) (100 mg/kg, s.c.) on inflammatory and oxidative stress parameters in lung of rats subjected to a single coal dust intratracheal instillation. Rats were pretreated for 2 weeks with saline solution, MGE, or MLE. On day 15, the animals were anesthetized, and gross mineral coal dust or saline solutions were administered directly in the lung by intratracheal instillation. Fifteen days after coal dust instillation, the animals were killed. Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) was obtained; total cell count and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity were determined. In the lung, myeloperoxidase activity, thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances (TBARS) level, and protein carbonyl and sulfhydryl contents were evaluated. In BAL of treated animals, we verified an increased total cell count and LDH activity. MGE and MLE prevented the increase in cell count, but only MLE prevented the increase in LDH. Myeloperoxidase and TBARS levels were not affected, protein carbonylation was increased, and the protein thiol levels were decreased by acute coal dust intratracheal administration. The findings also suggest that both extracts present an important protective effect on the oxidation of thiol groups. Moreover, pretreatment with MGE and MLE also diminished lung inflammatory infiltration induced by coal dust, as assessed by histopathologic analyses. The present study indicates that M. glomerata and M. laevigata might become good candidates for the prevention of lung oxidative injury caused by coal dust exposure.

Novel and Highly Diverse Fungal Endophytes in Soybean Revealed by the Consortium of Two Different Techniques

Tiago de Souza Leite,Andréia Cnossen-Fassoni,Olinto Liparini Pereira,Eduardo Seiti Gomide Mizubuti,Elza Fernandes de Araújo,Marisa Vieira de Queiroz 한국미생물학회 2013 The journal of microbiology Vol.51 No.1

Fungal endophytes were isolated from the leaves of soybean cultivars in Brazil using two different isolation techniques – fragment plating and the innovative dilution-to-extinction culturing – to increase the species richness, frequency of isolates and diversity. A total of 241 morphospecies were obtained corresponding to 62 taxa that were identified by analysis of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) of the ribosomal DNA (rDNA). The Phylum Ascomycota predominated, representing 99% and 95.2% of isolates in the Monsoy and Conquista cultivars, respectively, whereas the Phylum Basidiomycota represented 1% and 4.8% of isolates, respectively. The genera Ampelomyces, Annulohypoxylon, Guignardia, Leptospora, Magnaporthe, Ophiognomonia, Paraconiothyrium, Phaeosphaeriopsis, Rhodotorula, Sporobolomyces, and Xylaria for the first time were isolated from soybean; this suggests that soybean harbours novel and highly diverse fungi. The yeasts genera Rhodotorula and Sporobolomyces (subphylum Pucciniomycotina) represent the Phylum Basidiomycota. The species richness was greater when both isolation techniques were used. The diversity of fungal endophytes was similar in both cultivars when the same isolation technique was used except for Hill’s index, N1. The use of ITS region sequences allowed the isolates to be grouped according to Order, Class and Phylum. Ampelomyces, Chaetomium, and Phoma glomerata are endophytic species that may play potential roles in the biological control of soybean pathogens. This study is one of the first to apply extinction-culturing to isolate fungal endophytes in plant leaves, thus contributing to the development and improvement of this technique for future studies.

      • Poster Session : PS 0119 ; Cardiology : Isolated Clopidogrel-Induced Thrombocytopenia After Coronary Stent Placement

        ( Tiago Santos ),( Igor Nunes ) 대한내과학회 2014 대한내과학회 추계학술대회 Vol.2014 No.1

The double anti-aggregation with aspirin and clopidogrel has been used as background therapy in most patients after coronary stent placement. However, isolated cases of thrombocytopenia induced by each of these drugs, only rarely have been described, particularly when associated with clopidogrel. Currently, there is no consensus on alternative therapeutic strategies in cases of patients who had to suspend this type of drug because of thrombocytopenia after coronary stent placement. According to studies on the effi cacy and safety of this drug, ticagrelor has recently been appointed as antiplatelet therapy with aspirin in cases of percutaneous coronary intervention, as it demonstrated faster and more effective early inhibition of platelet aggregation compared with clopidogrel. This is the case of thrombocytopenia induced by clopidogrel after coronary stent placement following an acute coronary syndrome with ST segment elevation. We also intend to discuss alternative therapy adopted, as well as analysis and comparison of the cases published on the same topic.

The continuous-discontinuous Galerkin method applied to crack propagation

        Tiago L.D. Forti,Nadia C.S. Forti,Fábio L.G. Santos,Marco A. Carnio 사단법인 한국계산역학회 2019 Computers and Concrete, An International Journal Vol.23 No.4

The discontinuous Galerkin method (DGM) has become widely used as it possesses several qualities, such as a natural ability to dealing with discontinuities. DGM has its major success related to fluid mechanics. Its major importance is the ability to deal with discontinuities and still provide high order of approximation. That is an important advantage when simulating cracking propagation. No remeshing is necessary during the propagation, since the crack path follows the interface of elements. However, DGM comes with the drawback of an increased number of degrees of freedom when compared to the classical continuous finite element method. Thus, it seems a natural approach to combine them in the same simulation obtaining the advantages of both methods. This paper proposes the application of the combined continuous-discontinuous Galerkin method (CDGM) to crack propagation. An important engineering problem is the simulation of crack propagation in concrete structures. The problem is characterized by discontinuities that evolve throughout the domain. Crack propagation is simulated using CDGM. Discontinuous elements are placed in regions with discontinuities and continuous elements elsewhere. The cohesive zone model describes the fracture process zone where softening effects are expressed by cohesive zones in the interface of elements. Two numerical examples demonstrate the capacities of CDGM. In the first example, a plain concrete beam is submitted to a three-point bending test. Numerical results are compared to experimental data from the literature. The second example deals with a full-scale ground slab, comparing the CDGM results to numerical and experimental data from the literature.

The Labyrinth of Ordinary Experience: An Analytical Approach to the Construction of Everyday Life in Comic Books

Tiago Canário 고려대학교 응용문화연구소 2015 에피스테메 Vol.0 No.14

The study proposes an investigation on problems of textual organization and reading, focused on the construction and suggestion of everyday life notions. Frédéric Boilet’s Yukiko’s Spinach is analyzed to understand the consolidation of a day-by-day routine, which is studied through three axes: the small-scale actions choice (what is seen), the narrativization of trivia (how they are seen and structured), and the articulation of them (composing a kind of everyday life labyrinth). The paper discusses the ordinary as a subject and narrative problem. The analysis is interested not only in how everyday life is presented, but how its traces pervade the fruition indicated by textual marks. Notions from aesthetic, semiotic, and narratology studies are associated to note the relationship between text and reading, then linking authors as Ben Highmore, Michael Sheringham, Michel de Certeau, Thierry Groensteen, Benoît Peeters, and Scott McCloud. The common life invokes something that holds the strong ambivalence between boredom and strangeness, their continuity and rhythm, and so as part of the human experience, with focus on mundane actions and interpersonal relationships.

Comparative clinical and radiologic evaluation between patients undergoing standard reversed shoulder arthroplasty or bony increased offset

        Tiago Amorim-Barbosa,Ana Ribau,Hélder Fonte,Luís Henrique Barros,Rui Claro 대한견주관절학회 2023 대한견주관절의학회지 Vol.26 No.1

Background: Modifications of the medialized design of Grammont-type reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) using a bony increased offset (BIO-RSA) has shown better clinical results and fewer complications. The aim of this study is to compare the clinical results, complications, and radiological outcomes between patients undergoing standard RSA and BIO-RSA. Methods: A retrospective review was performed of 42 RSA procedures (22 standard RSA and 20 BIO-RSA). With a minimum of one year of follow-up, range of motion (ROM), Constant shoulder score (CSS), visual analog scale (VAS), and subjective shoulder score (SSS) were compared. Radiographs and computed tomography (CT) scan were examined for scapular notching, glenoid and humeral fixation, and graft healing. Results: At a mean follow-up of 27.6 months (range, 12–48 months), a significant difference was found for active-internal rotation (P=0.038) and for passive-external rotation (P=0.013), with better results in BIO-RSA. No other differences were found in ROM, CSS (P=0.884), VAS score, and SSS. Graft healing and viability were verified in all patients with CT scan (n=34). The notching rate was 28% in the standard RSA group and 33% in the BIO-RSA group, but the standard RSA had more severe notching (grade 2) than BIO-RSA (P=0.039). No other significative differences were found in glenoid and humeral fixation. Conclusions: Bone-graft lateralization is associated with better internal and external rotation and with less severe scapular notching compared to the standard RSA. Integration of the bone graft occurs effectively, with no relevant changes observed on radiographic evaluation. Level of evidence: Level III; Retrospective cohort design treatment study

Seismic vulnerability assessment of masonry facade walls: development, application and validation of a new scoring method

        Tiago M. Ferreira,Romeu Vicente,Humberto Varum 국제구조공학회 2014 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.50 No.4

This paper approaches the issue of seismic vulnerability assessment strategies for facade walls of traditional masonry buildings through the development of a methodology and its subsequent application to over 600 building facades from the old building stock of the historic city centre of Coimbra. Using the post-earthquake damage assessment of masonry buildings in L'Aquila, Italy, an analytical function was developed and calibrated to estimate the mean damage grade for masonry facade walls. Having defined the vulnerability function for facade walls, damage scenarios were calculated and subsequently used in the development of an emergency planning tool and in the elaboration of an access route proposal for the case study of the historic city centre of Coimbra. Finally, the methodology was pre-validated through the comparison of a set of results obtained from its application and also resourcing to a widely accepted mechanical method on the description of the out-of-plane behaviour of facade walls.
