First-Principles Investigation on the Electromechanical Properties of Monolayer 1H Pb-Dichalcogenides

Nguyen Hoang Linh,Nguyen Minh Son,Tran The Quang,Nguyen Van Hoi,Vuong Thanh,Do Van Truong Materials Research Society of Korea 2023 한국재료학회지 Vol.33 No.5

This study uses first-principles calculations to investigate the mechanical properties and effect of strain on the electronic properties of the 2D material 1H-PbX2 (X: S, Se). Firstly, the stability of the 1H Pb-dichalcogenide structures was evaluated using Born's criteria. The obtained results show that the 1H-PbS2 material possesses the greatest ideal strength of 3.48 N/m, with 3.68 N/m for 1H-PbSe2 in biaxial strain. In addition, 1H-PbS2 and 1H-PbSe2 are direct semiconductors at equilibrium with band gaps of 2.30 eV and 1.90 eV, respectively. The band gap was investigated and remained almost unchanged under the strain εxx but altered significantly at strains εyy and εbia. At the fracture strain in the biaxial direction (19 %), the band gap of 1H-PbS2 decreases about 60 %, and that of 1H-PbSe2 decreases about 50 %. 1H-PbS2 and 1H-PbSe2 can convert from direct to indirect semiconductor under the strain εyy. Our findings reveal that the two structures have significant potential for application in nanoelectronic devices.

This study investigates the factors affecting Industry 4.0 adoption in the curriculum of university students in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Universities need to respond to the changing faces of Industry 4.0 and, hence, Education 4.0. A mixed method including both qualitative and quantitative methodologies was utilized. An in-depth interview was carried out for exploring, reviewing, and testing content validity of constructs and measurement items. The pilot study was conducted with 120 respondents. The conceptual model and hypotheses were developed using data collected by a questionnaire survey distributed to 584 respondents by both electronic and paper forms with non-probability and convenience sampling techniques. The result of structural equation modeling showed that occupation relevance, skills, facility conditions, and social influence impacted on the intermediates variables, namely, relevance advantage, perceived usefulness, behavioral intention-to-use, and actual use. The independent variables are occupation relevance, skills, facility conditions, and social influence. They impact actual use through mediating constructs such as relevance advantage, perceived usefulness, and behavioral intention-to-use. The findings suggest that universities and students' efforts aimed at increasing the factors' perceptions of adoption of Industry 4.0 will contribute to implementation success, where success is defined as effectual usage of Industry 4.0.

      • Deep learning-based functional assessment of piezoelectric-based smart interface under various degradations

        Thanh-Truong Nguyen,Jeong-Tae Kim,Quoc-Bao Ta,Duc-Duy Ho,Thi Tuong Vy Phan,Thanh-Canh Huynh 국제구조공학회 2021 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.28 No.1

The piezoelectric-based smart interface technique has shown promising prospects for electro-mechanical impedance (EMI)-based damage detection with various successful applications. During the process of EMI monitoring and damage identification, the operational functionality of the smart interface device is a major concern. In this study, common functional degradations that occurred in the smart interface are diagnosed using a deep learning-based method. Firstly, the effect of functional degradations on the EMI responses is analytically discussed. Secondly, a critical structural joint is selected as the test structure from which EM measurement using the smart interface is conducted. Thirdly, a numerical model corresponding to the experimental model is established and updated to reproduce the measured EMI responses. By using the updated numerical model, the EMI responses of the smart interface under the common functional degradations, such as the shear lag effect, the adhesive debonding, the sensor breakage, and the interface detaching, are simulated; then, the functional degradation-induced EMI changes are characterized. Finally, a convolutional neural network (CNN)-based functional assessment method is newly proposed for the smart interface. The CNN can automatically extract and directly learn optimal features from the raw EMI signals without preprocessing. The CNN is trained and tested using the datasets obtained from the updated numerical model. The obtained results show that the proposed method was successful to classify four types of common defects in the smart interface, even under the effect of noises.

Factors Affecting the Use of ICT in Resolving Work of Community Officers in Vietnam

Truong Tuan LINH(Truong Tuan LINH ),Nguyen Thi Thanh HUYEN(Nguyen Thi Thanh HUYEN ) 한국유통과학회 2023 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.10 No.2

In general, using information and communication technology (ICT) to support problem-solving is becoming increasingly common across various industries, sectors, and regions. However, there have been few analyses on the factors affecting ICT problem-solving among officers working at People’s Committees of mountainous communes. Using survey data, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), and multivariable linear regression, this study examined the factors that influence the use of ICT in resolving works among community officers at People’s Committees in the Northwest mountainous region of Vietnam. The results showed that three factors with statistical significance affecting the dependent variable are computer skills, gender, and occupation of community officers. Therefore, it is recommended that officers participate in ICT training courses or engage in regular self-study to improve their computer skills and qualifications. Both men and women should also prioritize the use of ICT equipment. The study also found that officers in managerial positions were more likely to use ICT for problem-solving than their counterparts. However, some factors that affect the use of ICT were not identified in this study, leaving room for further research.
