        프로이트 미학의 두 갈래 : 성적 감흥과 처벌 Sexuality and Punishment

        Since Plato banished the poet from his republic and Aristotle restored the power of the drama, the thought on the beauty has been the crucial topic for every philosopher. Kant, Hegel, and Nietzsche discussed the nature of beauty as an necessity for human life and the integral part of reality. However, the importance of the role of art overwhelmingly dominants Freud's psychoanalysis, which counted the pleasure principle as the indispensable element to our life. In his ideas, human cannot escape from the violence caused by inevitable envy and hatred from the early childhood, namely a stage of infantile sexuality. Thus, the only way out of it is to lower that drives by transforming them into the symbolic act acceptable to society. In Freud's aesthetics, the idea of sublimation is the key concept of art to elevate our hatred towards love and sympathy: the work of art is nothing but the sublimation of infantile sexuality and the representation of the fantasy, "daydreaming," caused by childhood's sexual instinct. Nevertheless, we should consider another way of sublimation seemingly different from the above discussion: the art as the sublimation of punishment. Is there any way to connect these two ideas, the beauty as a sublimation of sexuality of early age and that of masochistic punishment? This essay traces those two trends of Freud's sublimation through his major writings on art and artist, and ultimately suggests that they represent Freud's transition of thought from the unconscious as a childhood sexuality to the death drives beyond the pleasure principle, which is his great contribution to elucidating the meaning of civilization and the role of beauty.

        한·호주간 무역구조 분석

        90년대 이후 한국 수출시장의 변화는 지역별, 품목별 수출전략의 수립을 필요로 하고 있다. 이러한 필요성에 입각하여 호주는 미국, 일본, 중화경제권 및 아세안 국가들을 제외한 국가중에서 수출비중과 수입비중이 매우 높은 교역 대상국일 뿐만 아니라 일본, 미국에 이어 한국의 무역수지 적자폭이 다음으로 큰 선진국이다. 따라서 본 연구는 무역특화도 지수, 현시비교우위 지수 및 산업내 무역지수에 입각하여 한국과 호주간의 무역형태를 체계적으로 분석함으로써 향후 대호주 수출증대에 도움이 되는 품목들을 구체적으로 선정하고자 하였다. 이러한 무역형태에 대한 연구는 한국의 무역수지 개선에 도움을 줄 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 아시아-태평양 경제연합(APEC)의 장기적 발전에도 큰 도움이 될 것으로 판단된다.

        The importance of stress analysis increases as the new concepts of structural forms and construction materials are developed. Functional considerations in the design often dictate the placing of the openings of various dimensions in the floor system. The current paper experimentally analyzes stress distribution in the rectangular plate with rectangular opening in the middle with emphasis placed on qualitative rather than quantitative observation. The following results are observed: 1. For the large opening, only negative Mx develops whose distribution is similar as in a cantilever. 2. As the dimension of the opening becomes the larger in the y-direction, the larger negative moment develops. 3. Mx at the built-in edge is the largest at 1.5 times the value obtaining at the opening ratio α₃/α₁=3.

      • FIRM INNOVATIVENESS OF VERTICAL ALLIANCE PORTFOLIO IN NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

        Vertical alliances for collaborative new product development in interfirm relationship have been an ongoing theme of strategy and marketing research to cope with fast changing environments, and to continuously innovate in the marketplace. However, no study has yet examind both direct and indirect effects of vertical alliances on new product performance under high technology turbulence. As alliance partners seek to enhance their collaboration and performance, the relational nature of business relationships and structural network positions can influence firm innovativeness and subsequent new product performance. Using survey data of 146 firms collected in Turkey, this study shows that while firms form stronger cooperation under conditions of high technology turbulence, the impact on firm innovativeness and new product performance is contingent upon network positions and information exchange. The findings indicate that indirect effects of vertical alliance portfolio and information exchange enhance new product performance through firm innovativeness. Vertical relationship structures facilitate firm innovativeness with enhanced exploration but may not have a positive direct effect on new product performance. Furthermore, the effect of information exchange on new product performance is contingent upon information exchange which enhances firm innovativeness.

      • Risk factors associated with neonatal morbidity and mortality in preterm prelabor rupture of membranes after cervical cerclage

        Objective: To evaluate factors associated with neonatal morbidity and mortality in pregnant women with preterm prelabor rupture of membranes (PPROM) after cervical cerclage. Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study of singleton pregnancies with cervical insufficiency at a tertiary referral center in Taiwan from 2000 to 2017. Patients included were those who suffered from PPROM after cerclage and delivered between 20 weeks 0 days and 36 weeks 6 days. Logistic and linear regression analyses were performed to evaluate various risk factors. Results: Overall, 109 women were included. Mothers with a higher white blood cell count, a higher C-reactive protein (CRP) level, a lower amniotic fluid index, and chorioamnionitis were significantly associated with neonatal morbidity. Neonatal mortality was related to oligohydramnios (adjusted odds ratio (aOR) = 2.98, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.11 to 8.01) and chorioamnionitis (aOR = 3.17, 95% CI = 1.03 to 9.69). An elevated CRP level was associated with a shorter PPROM to delivery latency (adjusted B = -16.64, 95% CI = -29.88 to -3.41), but cerclage retention >12 hours after PPROM was associated with a prolonged latency (adjusted B= 17.21, 95% CI = 3.25 to 31.18). Conclusions: Oligohydramnios and chorioamnionitis are associated with neonatal mortality.

        Is Long-term Ambient Air Pollutant Exposure a Risk Factor for Irritable Bowel Syndrome in Children? A 12-year Longitudinal Cohort Study

        ackground/Aims Recent studies suggest that air pollution may play a role in gastrointestinal disorders. However, the effect of long-term exposure to air pollution on childhood irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is unclear. Hence, we conducted a nationwide cohort study to investigate the association between long-term air pollution exposure and the incidence and risk of IBS in Taiwanese children during 2000–2012. Methods We collected data from the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database, linked to the Taiwan Air Quality-Monitoring Database according to the insurant living area and the air quality-monitoring station locations. Children < 18 years old, identified from January 1st, 2000, were followed-up until IBS diagnosis or December 31st, 2012. The daily average air pollutant concentrations were categorized into 4 quartile-based groups (Q1–Q4). We measured the incidence rate, hazard ratios (HRs), and 95% confidence intervals for IBS stratified by the quartiles of air pollutant concentration. Results A total of 3537 children (1.39%) were diagnosed with IBS within the cohort during the follow-up period. The incidence rate for IBS increased from 0.84 to 1.76, from 0.73 to 1.68, from 0.85 to 1.98, and from 0.52 to 3.22 per 1000 person-years, with increase in the carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, non-methane hydrocarbon, and methane quartile (from Q1 to Q4) exposure concentration, respectively. The adjusted HR for IBS increased with elevated carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, non-methane hydrocarbon, and methane exposure in Q4 to 1.98, 2.14, 2.19, and 5.87, respectively, compared with Q1. Conclusion Long-term ambient air pollutant exposure is an environmental risk factor for childhood IBS.

        Parametric Studies of Pulsed Laser Deposition of Indium Tin Oxide and Ultra-thin Diamond-like Carbon for Organic Light-emitting Devices

        Device quality indium tin oxide (ITO) films are deposited on glass substrates and ultra-thin diamond-like carbon films are deposited as a buffer layer on ITO by a pulsed Nd:YAG laser at 355 nm and 532 nm wavelength. ITO films deposited at room temperature are largely amorphous although their optical transmittances in the visible range are > 90%. The resistivity of their amorphous ITO films is too high to enable an efficient organic light-emitting device (OLED), in contrast to that deposited by a KrF laser. Substrate heating at 200℃ with laser wavelength of 355 nm, the ITO film resistivity decreases by almost an order of magnitude to 2×10-4 Ω cm while its optical transmittance is maintained at > 90%. The thermally induced crystallization of ITO has a preferred <111> directional orientation texture which largely accounts for the lowering of film resistivity. The background gas and deposition distance, that between the ITO target and the glass substrate, influence the thin-film microstructures. The optical and electrical properties are compared to published results using other nanosecond lasers and other fluence, as well as the use of ultra fast lasers. Molecularly doped, single-layer OLEDs of ITO/(PVK+TPD+Alq3)/Al which are fabricated using pulsed-laser deposited ITO samples are compared to those fabricated using the commercial ITO. Effects such as surface texture and roughness of ITO and the insertion of DLC as a buffer layer into ITO/DLC/(PVK+TPD+Alq3)/Al devices are investigated. The effects of DLC-on-ITO on OLED improvement such as better turn-on voltage and brightness are explained by a possible reduction of energy barrier to the hole injection from ITO into the light-emitting layer.
