A Study on the Functionality of Halophytes from Coast area of Jeollanam-do

This study was undertaken to improve the perceived value of halophytes and contribute to the activity of the local economy by analyzing the antioxidant activity and mineral content of Suaeda japonica, Tetragonia tetragonoides, and Spergularia marina that grow wild on the mud flats and coastal areas. The total phenolic compound content found in each order is as follows: Suaeda japonica (3.674∼5.989 mg TAE/g dry wt.), Tetragonia tetragonoides (2.515∼4.471 mg TAE/g dry wt.), and Spergularia marina (2.450∼4.067 mg TAE/g dry wt.); DPPH radical scavenging and ABTS cation radical scavenging activities were also recorded in the same order. In the case of minerals, Iron(Fe) was relatively high in Suaeda japonica (960.1∼1,346.7 mg/kg), Manganese(Mn) in Tetragonia tetragonoides (197.1∼574.8 mg/kg), and Zinc(Zn) was relatively high in Spergularia marina (63.19∼216.56 mg/kg). It was confirmed that the mineral content of Suaeda japonica, Tetragonia tetragonoides, and Spergularia marina was significantly higher than that of Chinese cabbage, lettuce, leek, and spinach.

Korean English Teacher's Disempowerment in English-only Classes

The Sociolinguistic journal of Korea 18(1). In this case study, we have focused on the disempowerment of a Korean English teacher (KET) in English-only classrooms. Six English as a foreign language (EFL) classrooms in a Korean high school were observed and analyzed by using interpretive discourse analysis. Out of the six classes, three representative classrooms were both video- and audio-taped. The results show that the English-only classes could weaken the KETs' power via three mechanisms: (a) calling the KETs' last name for choral greetings at the beginning of the class, (b) students' group solidarity and peer pressure between classmates, and (c) the students' excessively collaborative approach to peer assistance. It is argued that the exclusive English-only instruction disempowers the KETs' status and dismantles their vocational identity. In order to remedy the current situation, within a scaffolding supported by the eclectic use of first language where necessary for effective class management, KETs are empowered and overcome constraints imposed by the limited L2 oral competence of some non-native English teachers.

대한민국 자동차 번호판에서 블록 이진화 기법을 이용한 문자 인식 기법

In this paper, the image binarization method using standard specifications of the vehicle license plate to recognize characters on the plates is proposed. The global binarization method that had a threshold over entire image pixels cannot acuratelly binarize in case that local average brightness are varied to each plates characters regions. The proposed method uses the characters regions in the standard specifications of the korean vehicle license plates as binarization blocks. For installed cameras on national roads and parking areas, the computer simulation results showed average characters recognition rate about 5% higher than the otzu global binarization method.

Backgroud : Extraocular sebaceous carcinoma is a malignant tumor derived from the adnexal epithelium of sebaceous glands. A poorly differentiated sebaceous carcinoma shows variable histopathologic findings and mimics other primary tumor and cutaneous metastases mostly composed of clear cells. Case : Our patient consultation was requested for a 53 year?old female with solitary mild painful tumor on the scalp. The first histopathlogic impression of this case was basal cell carcinoma on the other hospital. After reevaluation, our diagnosis is not basal cell carcinoma but extraocular sebaceous carcinoma. Conclusion : A thorough exact recognition of characteristic histopathologic features of extraocular sebaceous carcinoma is necessary for making diagnosis, treatment plan and determining the prognosis.

D-F/F을 이용한 고속 CMOS 이중모드 Prescaler의 설계

주파수합성기에서 D-플립플롭으로 구성된 프리스케일러는 고속동작과 저전력을 필요로한다. 최근 이 주제를 가진 논문들이 발표되었다. 발표된 논문들은 트랜지스터의 수를 감소시켰지만, 저속동작에 단점이 있고, 고속동작을 실현시켰지만 전력소비가 많은 단점들을 보여주고 있다. 본 논문은 D-플립플롭에서 클럭 트랜지스터의 수를 줄이고, 글리치감소 뿐만아니라 VDD와 GND 사이의 short circuit current path를 개선하였다. 제안된 D-플립플롭을 적용한 프리스케일러는2.4GHZ의 최대동작속도와 3.3mW의 전력소비를 보였다. 제안된 D-플립플롭을 적용함으로써 NAND-플립플롭을 적용한 프리스케일러는 1.7GHZ의 최대동작 속도를 얻었다. D-플립플롭을 사용한 제안된 프리스케일러는 0.6㎛ CMOS 공정변수를 이용하여 HSPICE로 시뮬레이션하였다. The prescaler with TSPC dynamic D-F/F used in PLL is required to have features of high speed and low power consumption. There were several papers published for these subjects. Some of the papers show the less number of transistors in a D-F/F with lower speed, while others show high speed with higher power consumption. This paper minimizes the number of clock transistors in the D-F/F and improves the short circuit current paths from VDD to GND as well as glitch generation. The prescaler by applying the proposed D-F/F is increased in maximal high speed, 2.4GHz and achieved the power consumption of 3.3mW. The prescaler adopted the NAND-F/F by applying the proposed D-F/F circuits showed the maximum speed of 1.7GHz. The proposed prescaler using D-F/F is simulated in 0.6㎛ CMOS technology with HSPICE.

시대에 따른 청소년 망상의 변화

연구목적: 저자들은 지난 30년 동안 입원한 청소년 정시병 환자 중 망상이 분명하였던 환자를 대상으로, 시대적 변화와 청소년 문화의 변천에 따른 망상의 유형 및 내용의 변화를 알아보고, 청소년 환자에서의 망상의 특징을 알아보고자 본 연구를 시행하였다. 방법: 경북대학교병원에 입원하였던 청소년 정신병 환자 중 망상이 분명하였던 환자를 대상으로 하였다. 1977년 1월 1일부터 1978년 12월 31일 사이에 입원한 환자 39명, 1987년 1월 1일부터 1988년 12월 31일 사이에 입원한 환자 41명, 그리고 1997년 1월 1일부터 1998년 12월 31일 사이에 입원한 환자 44명에 대한 망상의 주제 및 내용을 비교하였다. 결과: 1) 망상을 나타낸 환자들은 70년대말, 80년대말, 90년대말 세 군 모두 남자의 비율이 여자보다 약간 높았고, 18∼21세 사이의 군이 가장 높은 빈도를 보였고, 비종교군의 비율이 종교군보다 높았고, 부모가다 살아있는 군이 가장 많았다. 학력은 고등학교가 가장 많았으나, 90년대말이 되면서 대학교 학력을 가진 비용이 증가하였고, 출생순위는 70년대말과 80년대말에서는 중간이 가장 많았으나, 90년대말에서는 장자가 가장 많았다. 2) 망상의 유형은 시대에 따라 의미있게 증가하거나 감소한 것은 없었고, 가장 높은 출현빈도를 보인 것은 피해망상, 관계망상, 과대망상 순이었다. 망상의 내용은 친구들 주제로 한 망상의 출현빈도가 가장 많았고, 통계학적으로 의미있게 증가하였다. 3) 남녀별 차이점은, 남자의 경우 관계망상의 출현빈도가 의미있게 증가하였고, 친구들 주제로 한 망상의 출현빈도가 의미있게 증가하였고, 초능력을 주제로 한 망상의 출현빈도가 의미있게 감소하였다. 여자의 경우 과대망상의 출현빈도가 의미있게 증가하였고, 초능력을 주제로 한 망상의 출현빈도가 의미있게 증가하였다. 4) 연령별로 보면, 18∼21세 경우는 피해망상의 출현빈도가 의미있게 증가하였고, 친구를 주제로 한망상의 출현빈도가 의미있게 증가하였다. 그리고 12∼147세에서 15∼17세, 18∼21세로 나이가 증가함에 따라 망상의 종류 및 내용에 다양해지고 있었다. 결론: 시대에 따른 청소년 문화의 변천은 청소년 정신병 환자의 망상의 내용에 영향을 미치는 것으로 생각된다.

전력시스템의 부하주파수 제어를 위한 뉴로-퍼지제어기 설계

The load frequency control of power system is one of important subjects in view of system operation and control. That is, even though the rapid load disturbances were applied to the given power system, the stable and reliable power should be supplied to the users, converging unconditionally and rapidly the frequency deviations and the tie-line power flow ones of each area into allowable boundary limits. Nonetheless of such needs, if the internal parameter perturbation and the sudden load variation were given, the unstable phenomena of power system can be often brought out because of the large frequency deviation and the unsuppressible power line one. Therefore, it is desirable to design the robust power system controller which can stabilize effectively the given power system as soon as possible, In this paper the robust neuro-fuzzy controller was proposed and applied to control of load frequency over multi-area power system. The architecture and algorithm of a designed NFC(Neuro-Fuzzy Controller) were consist of fuzzy controller and neural network for auto tuning of fuzzy controller. The adaptively learned antecedent and consequent parameters of membership functions in fuzzy controller were acquired from the steepest gradient method for error-back propagation algorithm.

This paper also introduces the methods needed to use major internet search engines and websites about tourism in Korea as well as out side of the country which are helpful and useful in teaching and learning tourism. As one of the computer programs, internet can offer the merits of computer-assisted instruction. In addition, the internet can provide students with various learning resources and instructional materials.

문학과 종교(1) : T.S.Eliot의 시를 중심으로 Focused on the poems of T.S.Eliot

This study is concerned with the literature and religion focused mainly in case of T.S.Eliot's works. Eliot was brought up in a Christian family background. He found no solace but only anxiety in the old religion. He was converted from Unitarianism to Anglo-Catholicism. We may find some heathen elements in Eliot's poetry. There is unbreakable relationship between religion and literature, and so Eliot distinguishes between them. Great literature cannot be either a means of escape merely from the traigic burden of life, nor can it seek to provide the artist with no more than a means of self-realization without regard to the price society pays for that fulfilment. It is not the task of imaginative literature to be didatic; still more, that incalculation of any specific creed is not a duty to which any of the arts is called. The essential relaltion of culture to religion is contact as said no culture has appeared or developed expect together with religion. It is certain that the culture will appear to be the product of the religion, or the religion the product of the culture. As it is seen T.S.Eliot's works are' wholly tinted religious, the artisitc sensibility is impoverised by its divorce from the religious sensibility, the religious by its separation from the artistic. As the most important concern of both religion and literature is existence and how to express their belief or faith is nearly same, the boundaries to differ between these two are very ambigious. But it is absoltely different, of course. This reason makes us call such literature as describing our existence 'religious'.

The rural world is not only the area in which Frost finds his most congenial subjects; it provides the framework in terms of which he can most effectively picture reality. Frost focuses on the human observer. Frost saw the barrier separating man and nature, and his concerns are always with the truth of nature. So they are each different in depicting nature. In other words, in depicting nature, Frost is different from Wordsworth in their identification with natural forces. Both Frost's subject and his methods derive from his conviction that poetry is not a social philosophy but a unique discipline with its own theme and language. Thus, nature in Frost's poetry is used as a background to supplement the human foreground, that is as a metaphor of human reality. Frost's chief interest lies in the pursuit of the reality of human existence and in the exploration of the possibility for us to live both with and against flux and to survive to continue our existence on the Earth. His rural landscape provides him with the setting and personae to fulfill his commitment to this poetic theme. Thus, nature in Frost's poetry is used as a background to supplement the human foreground, that is as a metaphor of human reality.
