      • A Study on the Functionality of Halophytes from Coast area of Jeollanam-do

        This study was undertaken to improve the perceived value of halophytes and contribute to the activity of the local economy by analyzing the antioxidant activity and mineral content of Suaeda japonica, Tetragonia tetragonoides, and Spergularia marina that grow wild on the mud flats and coastal areas. The total phenolic compound content found in each order is as follows: Suaeda japonica (3.674∼5.989 mg TAE/g dry wt.), Tetragonia tetragonoides (2.515∼4.471 mg TAE/g dry wt.), and Spergularia marina (2.450∼4.067 mg TAE/g dry wt.); DPPH radical scavenging and ABTS cation radical scavenging activities were also recorded in the same order. In the case of minerals, Iron(Fe) was relatively high in Suaeda japonica (960.1∼1,346.7 mg/kg), Manganese(Mn) in Tetragonia tetragonoides (197.1∼574.8 mg/kg), and Zinc(Zn) was relatively high in Spergularia marina (63.19∼216.56 mg/kg). It was confirmed that the mineral content of Suaeda japonica, Tetragonia tetragonoides, and Spergularia marina was significantly higher than that of Chinese cabbage, lettuce, leek, and spinach.

        Artificial Neural Network for Modeling the Tensile Properties of Ferrite-Pearlite Steels: Relative Importance of Alloying Elements and Microstructural Factors

        An artificial neural network (ANN) model was developed to predict the tensile properties as a function of alloying elementand microstructural factor of ferrite-pearlite steels. The input parameters of the model were composed of alloying elements(Mn, Si, Al, Nb, Ti, and V) and microstructural factors (pearlite fraction, ferrite grain size, interlamellar spacing, and cementitethickness), while the output parameters of the model were yield strength and tensile strength. Although the ferrite-pearlitesteels have complex relationships among the alloying elements, microstructural factors, and tensile properties, the ANNmodel predictions were found to be more accurate with experimental results than the existing equation model. In the presentstudy the individual effect of input parameters on the tensile properties was quantitatively estimated with the help of theaverage index of the relative importance for alloying elements as well as microstructural factors. The ANN model attemptedfrom the metallurgical points of view is expected to be useful for designing new steels having required mechanical properties.

        텔레스코픽 크라운 임플란트 지지 피개의치와 치아 지지 피개의치의 하악골내 응력분포에 관한 유한요소분석

        PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to investigate the stress distribution in mandibular implant-supported overdentures and tooth-supported overdentures with telescopic crowns. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The assumption of this study was that there were 2, 3, 4 natural teeth and implants which are located in the second premolar and canine regions in various distributed conditions. The mandible, teeth (or implants and abutments), and connectors are modeled, and analyzed with the commercial software, ANSYS Version 10.1. Stress distribution was evaluated under 150 N vertical load bilaterally on 3 experimental conditions - between canine areas, canine and 2nd premolars, 10 mm posterior to 2nd premolars. RESULTS. Overall, the case of the implant group showed more stress than the case of the teeth group in stress distribution to bone. In stress distribution to superstructures of tooth and implants, there was no significant difference between TH group and IM group and the highest stress appeared in TH-IV and IM-IV. The stress caused from bar was much higher than those of implant and tooth. TH group showed less stress than IM group in stress distribution to abutment teeth and implant. CONCLUSION. The results shows that it is crucial to make sure that distance between impact loading point and abutment tooth does not get too far apart, and if it does, it is at best to set abutment tooth on premolar tooth region. It will be necessary to conduct more experiments on effects on implants, natural teeth and bone, in order to apply these results to a clinical treatment. 연구 목적: 이 연구의 목적은 텔레스코픽 크라운 하악 임플란트 지지 피개의치와 치아 지지 피개의치에서 지대치의 수와 위치에 따른 응력 분산을 비교하기 위함이다. 연구 재료 및 방법: 본 연구에서는 임플란트를 4개 식립하고 임플란트 지지 피개의치로 설계하였고, 식립 위치를 견치와 소구치 부위에 위치 별로 3개 또는 2개 존재시를 실험군으로 설정하였다. 자연치아를 갖는 경우도 견치와 제2소구치 4개를 가진 경우를 대조군으로 설정하고 부위별로 3개 또는 2개를 가지는 경우를 실험군으로 설정하였다. ANSYS Version 10.1 (Swanson, Inc., USA)로 분석하였다. 결과: 악골내 응력의 경우, 전반적으로 임플란트(IM)로만 구성된 경우가 치아(TH)로만 구성된 경우에 비해 응력이 크게 발생하였다. 상부구조의 경우, 치아군(TH)과 임플란트군(IM) 사이의 차이는 크게 없었으며 편측 견치와 제2소구치에 지대치 또는 임플란트가 위치하는 경우 가장 큰 응력이 나타났고 바(bar)에서 발생된 응력이 임플란트와 치아에서 발생되는 응력에 비해 상대적으로 훨씬 크게 발생하였다. 지대치와 임플란트의 경우, 치아군(TH)이 임플란트군(IM)보다 응력이 작게 발생하였다. 결론: 본 연구의 결과로부터 지대치(임플란트 또는 치아)를 설정할 때는 하중작용점과 지대치 사이의 거리가 너무 길어지지 않도록 지대치의 수와 위치를 확보해야 하며 소구치 자리에 지대치를 확보하는 것이 유리하다. 앞으로, 실제 임상에 적용하였을 경우, 임플란트 및 자연치아와 악골에 미치는 결과에 대한 연구가 더 필요할 것으로 생각된다.

        We report the characteristics of laser diode pumped Nd:YVO₄laser and its passive Q-Switching by using a Cr:YAG crystal. We have investigated the effects of cavity length of the Nd:YVO₄laser, pumping power of the laser diode, and transmission of the Cr:YAG crystal on the repetition rate and the width of Q-Switchied pulses. The periodic doubling phenomena were observed not only in the Q-Switchied pulses but also in the intracavity Q-Switching second harmonics which were generated by using a KTP nonlinear crystal.

        The visualization of geometric algorithms use graphics and motion to explain geometric algorithm ideas and concepts. Geometric algorithms can be highly complex, hard to implement and debug and difficult to grasps. The visual nature of geometry makes animations extremely helpful. In the paper, we show that the visual realization of the Voronoi diagram and Convex hull using Plane sweep technique. This Plane sweep technique implemented by Java applet and can be shown by WWW browsers in internet.

      • 대식세포주 RAW264.7에서 Nitric oxide에 의해 과발현되는 CD53의 기능분석

        The CD53 antigen is a member of the tetraspanin membrane protein family that is expressed in the lymphoid-myeloid lineage. It is highly expressed in Radio-resistant tumor cells. Recently, it was reported that CD53 associates with the GSH-metabolizing protein γ-glutamyl transpeptidase. Its biological roles however remains unknown. Macrophages activated by microbial lipopolysaccharides (LPS) produce a burst of nitric oxide and reactive oxygen species. Nitric oxide plays important roles in macrophage activation as a toxic agent towards infectious organisms, an inducer or suppressor of apoptosis or an immunoregulator, whether nitric oxide can induce or inhibit apoptosis is highly dependent on different cell types at different stages of the inflammatory process. Using cDNA microarrays, we identified CD53 as one of the principal genes up-regulated by exposure of macrophages to LPS. We found that mRNA and protein levels of CD53 were increased by nitric oxide as well as LPS treatment in macrophages. Cells stably transfected with sense CD53 cDNA had lower levels of peroxide, and were more resistant to γ-irradiation. The stably transfected RAW264.7 cells with antisense CD53 recombination had the opposite properties. Activation of CD53 by cross-linking with monoclonal anti-CD53 antibody (OX-79) showed the expression of the inducible nitric oxide synthase. We propose that the induction of CD53 is one of major self-protection mechanisms of macrophages against LPS induced-oxidative stress and irradiation.

        Chlorpromazine의 유전적 안전성에 관한 연구

        연구목적 ; 항 정신성약물로 사용빈도가 높은 chlorpromazine을 사용하여 이 약물의 돌연변이원성과 유전독성을 알아보았다. 방 법 : Bacillus subtilis을 사용한 DNA손상성검토(rec assay), Salmonella typhimurium을 이용한 돌연변이원성실험(Ames test 및 SOS umu test) 그리고 생쥐에 chlorpromazine를 직접 주입하여 대사 후에 돌연변이원성을 확인하는 host-mediated assay법을 각각 사용하였다. 결 과 ; Rec assay에서 chlorpromazine은 Bacillus subtilis의 DNA에는 별다른 영향을 미치지 않았으며, salmonella typhomurium TA 98 및 TA100을 이용한 돌연별이원성 실험에서도 chlorpromazine은 어느 균에도 돌연변이원성을 나타내지 않았으며, S-9 mixture의 첨가에 의해 대사가 된 후에도 돌연변이원성을 나타내지 않았다. 또한 SOS umu test의 경우에도 β-galactosidase활성에는 별다른 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 보아 chlorpromazine은 돌연별이원성을 일으키지 않는 것으로 판정되었으며 S-9 mixture 처리 후에도 이와 유사한 결과를 얻었다. 한편 생쥐를 이용한 host mediated assay에서도 Ames test에서 S-9 mixture를 첨가 한 경우와 같이 돌연변이원성이 없는 것으로 판정되었다. 결 론 : 이상을 종합해 볼 때 chlorpromazine은 본 실험에 사용한 4가지 방법에서는 돌연병이원성과 유전독성을 일으키지 않는 것으로 나타났다. Object : The aim of this study is to determine whether exposure to chlorpromazine causes mutagenicity and genetic disorders. Method : Ames(Salmonella typhimurium) test and Rec assay(Bacillus subtilis) were used as indicators for DNA damage. Furthermore, the levels of umu operon expression by measuring the β-galactosidase activity were monitered with the SOS umu test using S. typhimurium 1535 containing plasmid pSK1002. And the host-mediated assay was used to investigate the mutagenicity of chlorpromazine after the activation with in vivo metabolic systems. Results : From the results, chlorpromazine did not affect DNA of S. typhimurium and B.subtilis strains and showed no mutagenicity at the all concentrations tested. These phenomena was also similar to that after metabolic activation of chlorpromazine in in vivo system. Conclusion : These results suggested that chlorpromazine did not show the mutagenicity and genotoxicity by four different methods used in this study.

      • 極値의 理論的 背景과 LIMIT의 指導에 관한 硏究

        Limit is a fundamental part of high school mathematics. How could the concept of limit be described? The introductions which are basic parts of science took place with the technological advances in daily life and in massive production. Mathematics has played an essential role as a pedestal of the development of modern technology. Thus, the procedure of studying the variation relations which are outcomes of the experiments and observations in a given period, that is, the steps of the induction of limit theorem that is momentary variation rate was demonstrated in turn. To help take interest, the theoretical and logical validity of limit theorem is tested by setting up sophistic(logical) postulation and contradiction. On the other hand, limit and extremal value theorem of time, polygon, circle and sphere was demonstrated via geometric miniatures. In here, the infinite series of numerical is induced through the connection of finite and infinite time about time and a limit theorem. Also, the theoretical background of extremal value is reaffirmed by using a definition of a limit theorem and ε - δ equation which is used for determining the extremal value of a function with a few examples.

      • DS-CDMA 시스템 적용을 위한 Smart Antenna 기술

        본 연구에서는 fading 및 공간적인 scatter를 고려한 전파환경 모델을 제시하고, CDMA 수신기능 블록들을 포함한 beamforming 알고리즘의 동작 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. MVDR 및 steering-only beamforming 알고리즘을 적용하여 위치추정 기능 및 계수 최적화기능에 대한 성능 및 오차영향을 개별적으로 분석하도록 하였다. Beamforming의 성능 지표인 SINR에 대한 해석식을 유도하고 이를 동작시뮬레이션을 통하여 얻은 SINR 결과와 비교 제시함으로서 본 연구에서 구현한 beamforming 안테나 동작 시뮬레이션과 해석의 타당성을 확인하였다.
