Monitoring of tall slender structures by GPS measurements

Tadeusz Chmielewski,Peter Breuer,Piotr Górski,Eduard Konopka 한국풍공학회 2009 Wind and Structures, An International Journal (WAS Vol.12 No.5

A method is applied for the estimation of structural damage of tall slender structures using natural frequency and displacements measurements by GPS. The relationship between the variation in the global stiffness matrix (or in the stiffness of each finite element) and the change in the natural frequencies of the structure is given. In engineering practice the number of frequencies which can be derived by GPS measurement of longperiod structures will be equal to one, two or three first natural frequencies. This allows us in initial studies to detect damage with frequency changes based on forward methods in which the measured frequencies are compared with the predicted analytical data. This idea, of health monitoring from possible changes to natural frequencies, or from a statement of excessive displacements is applied to the Stuttgart TV Tower.

Founder Mutations for Early Onset Melanoma as Revealed by Whole Exome Sequencing Suggests That This is Not Associated with the Increasing Incidence of Melanoma in Poland

        Tadeusz Debniak,Rodney J Scott,Rodney A Lea,Bohdan Górski,Bartlomiej Masojc,Cezary Cybulski,Andrzej Kram,Romuald Maleszka,Tomasz Gromowski,Katarzyna Paszkowska-Szczur,Aniruddh Kashyap,Marcin R. Lener 대한암학회 2019 Cancer Research and Treatment Vol.51 No.1

Purpose Germline mutations within melanoma susceptibility genes are present only in minority of melanoma patients and it is expected that additional genes will be discovered with next generation sequence technology and whole-exome sequencing (WES). Materials and Methods Herein we performed WES on a cohort of 96 unrelated Polish patients with melanoma diagnosed under the age of 40 years who all screened negative for the presence of CDKN2Avariants. A replication study using a set of 1,200 melanoma patient DNA samples and similarly large series of healthy controls was undertaken. Results We selected 21 potentially deleterious variants in 20 genes (VRK1, MYCT1, DNAH14, CASC3, MS4A12, PRC1, WWOX, CARD6, EXO5, CASC3, CASP8AP2, STK33, SAMD11, CNDP2, CPNE1, EFCAB6, CABLES1, LEKR1, NUDT17, and RRP15), which were identified by WES and confirmed by Sanger sequencing for an association study. Evaluation of the allele distribution among carriers and their relatives in available family trios revealed that these variants were unlikely to account for many familial cases of melanoma. Replication study revealed no statistically significant differences between cases and controls. Conclusion Although most of the changes seemed to be neutral we could not exclude an association between variants in VRK1, CREB3L3, EXO5, and STK33 with melanoma risk.

MECHANICAL COUPLING DEVICES TO VARIOUS TYPES OF VEHICLES UNDER CYCLIC LOADING

        Tadeusz Szymczak,Sławomir Cholewiński,Adam Brodecki,Jacek Łączyński 한국자동차공학회 2022 International journal of automotive technology Vol.23 No.1

The paper focuses on experimental approaches for selected mechanical coupling components to type-approval. The obtained results have enabled to present behaviour of the following tested objects: ball (with homologation certificate), transport platform, and rigid drawbars under cyclic loading. They follow details of tests to components made of typical and high strength steels as well as various kinds of aluminium alloy, such as mounting systems, parameters of loading signals, the procedure for assessing the quality of the elements after tests as well as fatigue and fracture zones, and reasons to cracks occurrence due to loading cycles performed. Moreover, they show advantages and disadvantages of the experimental approaches.

Magnetically Soft Nanomaterials Obtained by Devitrification of Metallic Glasses

        Tadeusz Kulik,Jarosław Ferenc,Maciej Kowalczyk,Liang Xiubing,Natalya Nedelko,Anna Ślawska-Waniewska 한국자기학회 2004 Journal of Magnetics Vol.9 No.2

Magnetically soft nanomaterials obtained by controlled crystallisation of metallic glasses are the newest group of materials for inductive components. In particular, research is carried out in the field of alloys for high temperature applications. This kind of materials must meet two basic requirements: good magnetic properties and stability of properties and structure. In the present work the magnetic properties and structure of Fe-Co-Hf-Zr-Cu-B (HITPERM-type) alloys were investigated, as well as their stability. Differential thermal analysis, (DTA), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), magnetometry (VSM) and quasistatic hysteresis loop recording were used to characterise structure and properties of the alloys investigated. Optimisation against properties and their stability was performed, resulting in formulation of chemical composition of the optimum alloy, as well as its heat treatment.

Funeral Rites for Rebirth in the Sukhāvatī Realm -According to the Tibetan Pure Land Tradition-

Skorupski, Tadeusz DAOS(The Daesoon Academy of Sciences) 2003 대순사상논총 Vol.16 No.-

      • Sinter-bonding of Iron Based Compacts Containing P and Cu

        Pieczonka Tadeusz,Kazior Jan 한국분말야금학회 2006 한국분말야금학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2006 No.1

The sinter-bonding behavior of iron based powder mixtures was investigated. To produce the green compacts to be joined the following powders based on AB grade NC 100.24 plain iron powder were used: NC 100.24 as delivered, PNC 30, PNC 60 and NC 100.24 + 4%Cu powder mixtures. Dimensional behaviour of all those materials during the sintering cycle was monitored by dilatometry. Simple ring shaped specimens as the outer parts and cylindrical as the inner parts were pressed. The influence of parts' composition on joining strength was established. Diffusion of alloying elements: copper and phosphorous, across the bonding surface was controlled by metallography, SEM and microanalysis.

Non-covalent functionalization of multi-walled carbon nanotubes with organic aromatic compounds.

Lemek, Tadeusz,Mazurkiewicz, Jó,zef,Stobinski, Leszek,Lin, Hong Ming,Tomasik, Piotr American Scientific Publishers 2007 Journal of nanoscience and nanotechnology Vol.7 No.9

Several aromatic compounds derived from benzene by its annelation (naphthalene, anthracene, phenanthrene, pyrene) and exocyclic substitution (e.g., nitrobenzene, dinitrobenzenes, trinitrobenzene, chlorobenzene, N,N-dimethylaniline, and others) and endocyclic substitution (pyridine, quinoline, isoquinoline) efficiently sorbed on multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). Equilibrium constants for the sorption process have been determined. Computations of the energy of formation were performed for surface complexes of those arenes on single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs). Formation energies of those complexes were correlated against the experimental equilibrium constants. The latter were also correlated against calculated LUMO energy of the arenes. Solely, limited tendencies to the linearity could be observed. The analysis of the results of the correlations indicated that the arenes acting as the charge acceptors formed stronger complexes than arenes with a high electron density in the molecular orbital, for instance, N, N-dimethylaniline. The area of the arene--SWCNT contact was very essential for the complexation. The proximity of the HOMO orbital of SWCNT and LUMO of the arene was another essential factor. Bulky substituents in the arene molecules obscured their efficient contact with SWCNT.

      • Microstructure and Properties of High Nitrogen Sintered Stainless Steel

        Pieczonka Tadeusz,Stoytchev Marin 한국분말야금학회 2006 한국분말야금학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2006 No.1

The use of the nickel free, high nitrogen stainless steel powder and nitriding during sintering of iron based materials have been shown as an alternative way to the conventional PM stainless steels containing nickel. Nitrogen as an alloying element for iron improves in an effective way the properties of sintered alloyed steels. The powder metallurgy route is a suitable way to introduce nitrogen into these alloys and, in particular, to produce high nitrogen (close to the solubility limit) stainless steels. The paper presents and discusses the nitriding behavior of nickel-free stainless steels produced by powder metallurgy method. Alloyed melt was atomized by nitrogen and in this way nitrogen was introduced into the powder. Further nitriding occurred during sintering in a nitrogen atmosphere. For comparison, compacts having the same composition as an alloyed powder were produced from elemental powders mixture. Sintering-nitriding behaviour of investigated materials has been controlled by dilatometry, chemical and X-Ray phase analysis and metallography. Mechanical properties of sintered compacts were also measured.
