        DDAB-MODIFIED TPGS-b-(PCL-ran-PGA) NANOPARTICLES AS ORAL ANTICANCER DRUG CARRIER FOR LUNG CANCER CHEMOTHERAPY

        Oral chemotherapy is a great way to cancer treatment because it is less stressful being that the patient will have less hospital visits and can still maintain a close relationship with health care professionals. In this research, three types of nanoparticle formulation from commercial PCL and self-synthesized TPGS-b-(PCL-ran-PGA) diblock copolymer were fabricated for oral delivery of antitumor agents, including DDAB-modified PCL nanoparticles, unmodified TPGS-b-(PCL-ran-PGA) nanoparticles and DDAB-modified TPGS-b-(PCL-ran-PGA) nanoparticles. Firstly, the TPGS-b-(PCL-ran-PGA) diblock copolymer was synthesized and characterized. DDAB was adopted to increase retention time at the cell surface, thus increasing the chances of nanoparticle uptake by the gastrointestinal mucosa and improving drug absorption. The TPGS-b-(PCL-ran-PGA) nanoparticles were found by FESEM of spherical shape and around 200 nm in diameter. The surface charge of TPGS-b-(PCL-ran-PGA) nanoparticles was reversed from anionic to cationic after DDAB modification. The DDAB-modified TPGS-b-(PCL-ran-PGA) nanoparticles have significantly higher level of the cell uptake than that of DDAB-modified PCL nanoparticles and unmodified TPGS-b-(PCL-ran-PGA) nanoparticles. In vitro cell viability studies showed advantages of the DDAB-modified TPGS-b-(PCL-ran-PGA) nanoparticles over Taxotere® in terms of cytotoxicity against A549 cells. In conclusion, oral chemotherapy by DDAB-modified TPGS-b-(PCL-ran-PGA) nanoparticle formulation may provide a promising outcome for lung cancer patients.

      • Recognizing Comparative Sentences from Chinese Review Texts

        Comparisons play an important role in making decisions by referring to the comparative opinions of opinion holders in earlier customer reviews. Recognizing comparative sentences from review texts contributes to opinion mining and information recommendation. Our objective is to automatically recognize comparative sentences from Chinese text documents. In this paper, an effective approach is proposed based on comparative patterns to recognize comparative sentences in Chinese. Our experiments on customer-generated product reviews show that the proposed approach is effective.

        Identification of Chinese Event Types Based on Local Feature Selection and Explicit Positive & Negative Feature Combination

        An approach to identify Chinese event types is proposed in this paper which combines a good feature selection policy and a Maximum Entropy (ME) model. The approach not only effectively alleviates the problem that classifier performs poorly on the small and difficult types, but improve overall performance. Experiments on the ACE2005 corpus show that performance is satisfying with the 83.5% macro - average F measure. The main characters and ideas of the approach are: (1) Optimal feature set is built for each type according to local feature selection, which fully ensures the performance of each type. (2) Positive and negative features are explicitly discriminated and combined by using one - sided metrics, which makes use of both features' advantages. (3) Wrapper methods are used to search new features and evaluate the various feature subsets to obtain the optimal feature subset.

      • Learning Extraction of Chinese Comparative Sentences for Evaluative Text

        With the prevalence of Web 2.0, people increasingly prefer to express opinions and exchange information through CGM (consumer-generated media), such as blog, Internet forum and etc. Many studies pay attention to extract and analysis user opinions in consumer reviews. This paper studies how to automatically extract Chinese comparative sentences from consumer reviews. At first, the paper describes a method for solving the class imbalance problem of comparatives and non-comparatives in review data. Then we built a support vector machine learning model to classify comparatives and non-comparatives into different group on a balanced dataset. Experiments were conducted on consumer-generated product reviews, including 9600 sentences, of which 1,624 (16.92% of the total) were comparisons. Experiments show an overall F-score of 87.26%, which presents the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

        Topology optimization for lightweight cellular material and structure simultaneously by combining SIMP with BESO

        This paper presents a hybrid algorithm for topology optimization of lightweight cellular materials and structures simultaneously by combining solid isotropic material with penalization (SIMP) and bi-directional evolutionary structural optimization (BESO). Microstructure of the lightweight cellular material is assumed unique in the structure to make the proposed method feasible. A new sensitivity analysis formula with respect to the discrete variable is derived by a principal submatrix stiffness matrix, by which the material can be effectively removed from or added to cellular. Moreover, the validity of the proposed method is then demonstrated through two numerical examples (a simple supported beam and a cantilever beam), which can be easily applied in a variety of practical situations.

        Effects of Surface Modification of Silane Coupling Agent on the Properties of Concrete with Freeze-thaw Damage

        Surface waterproofing treatment with silane coupling agent is developed to prepare surface modification concrete, in recent years, which possesses an excellent permeability resistance. Freeze-thaw damage inevitable exists in concrete exposed to the cold environment, therefor this paper intensively investigates the effects of surface modification of silane coupling agent on the properties of concrete with freeze-thaw damage. Freeze-thaw cycles, capillary absorption, chloride penetration and carbonization tests were carried out, respectively. The results demonstrate that the surface waterproofing treatment is appropriate for the durability repairing of concrete with freeze-thaw damage, and the penetration depth of silane coupling agent in concrete increases linearly with the rise of freeze-thaw damage. The water and chloride permeability both increase with the increased freeze-thaw cycles for various concrete; however, the surface modification concrete has a better permeability resistance than ordinary concrete with the same freeze-thaw damage. In particular, the permeability resistance increases with the increases of applied amount of silane coupling agent, and there exists a good correlation between the permeability behavior and induced freeze-thaw damage for various concrete. Abrasion significantly decrease the permeability resistance of surface modification concrete, which should be considered carefully in the durability repairing.

        Aqueous Processing and Effects of V2O5 on Microwave Dielectric Properties of Multilayer Li1.075Nb0.625Ti0.45O3 Ceramics

        In the present work, we report the development of an aqueous tape casting method and a low temperature co-firing process for fabrication of multilayer Li1.075Nb0.625Ti0.45O3 microwave dielectric ceramics. A co-binder, consisting of polyvinyl acetate latex (PVAc) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), was used to prepare aqueous Li1.075Nb0.625Ti0.45O3 tapes. PVA addition increased the tape flexibility and adhesiveness but resulted in decreased tensile strength. Rheological tests indicated that the aqueous ceramic slurry exhibited a typical shear thinning behavior without thixotropy, suitable for tape casting. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studies revealed that the green tapes have a defect-free surface and that the multilayer ceramics sintered at 900°C have a fine plate like, grainy microstructure of uniform size. At lower temperatures, increased densification rates were achieved by addition of V2O5 to Li1.075Nb0.625Ti0.45O3 ceramics. The saturated bulk densities and dielectric constants (εr) of Li1.075Nb0.625Ti0.45O3 multilayer ceramics affected by lower sintering temperatures with an increase in V2O5 doping, and then an improvement in the quality factor (Q × f value) of the samples was achieved at the lower sintering temperatures. As a result, the εr of 64.9 and the Q × f value of 8800 GHz were obtained in the sample with an addition of 3 wt. % V2O5, sintered at a temperature of 900°C. No reaction was observed between the ceramic and silver layers when sliver inner-electrode, was sintered with ceramic tapes at 900°C.

        Preparation and Dieletrical Properties of Li1.075Nb0.625Ti0.45O3 Powders by Hydrothermal Method

        A hydrothermal method has been developed and shown to be effective for the preparation of Li1.075Nb0.625Ti0.45O3(LNT) nano-particles. Hydrothermal reaction temperature was in the range from 120°C - 200°C. The crystalline structure and morphology of the prepared particles have been characterized by x-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. Results indicate that hydrothermal temperature had a great effect on the phase formation and morphology of the particles. The prepared powders crystallized at 140°C, and the pure LNT phase was formed at 180°C. The size of LNT particles increased with increasing reaction temperature, and plate-like LNT particles with thickness of 15 - 30 mm and a diameter of 80 - 200 mm were obtained at 200°C. It was found that LNT powders synthesized at 180°C gave the LNT ceramics the highest microwave dielectric properties (εr = 66, Q×f = 8946 GHz) due to good crystallization and low particle size.
