A healthy 35-year-old man who was scheduled for closed reduction of nasal bone fracture developed atrial fibrillation during induction of general anesthesia after intravenous glycopyrrolate injection. During emergence of general anesthesia, atrial fibrillation was suddenly changed to paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia with 200 beat per minute and lasted for about 10 seconds. Because blood pressure was stable, esmolol was used to reduce ventricular response. At recovery room, ventricular response reduction about 55 beat per minute was observed after intravenous injection of verapamil 5 mg. Thereafter, the rhythm was returned to normal sinus rhythm with bradycardia.
Efficient Computation of Radioactive Decay with Graph Algorithms

This paper gives two graph-based algorithms for radioactive decay computation. The first algorithm identifies the connected components of the graph induced from the given radioactive decay dynamics to reduce the size of the problem. The solutions are derived over the precalculated connected components, respectively and independently. The second algorithm utilizes acyclic structure of radioactive decay dynamics. The algorithm evaluates the reachable vertices of the induced system graph from the initially activated vertices and finds the minimal set of starting vertices populating the entire reachable vertices. Then, the decay calculations are performed over the reachable vertices from the identified minimal starting vertices, respectively, with the partitioned initial value over the reachable vertices. Formal arguments are given to show that the proposed graph inspired divide and conquer calculation methods perform the intended radioactive decay calculation. Empirical efforts comparing the proposed radioactive decay calculation algorithms are presented.
Characteristics of Hydration and Correlation on Cement-Based Thermal Insulation Material

Cement-based thermal insulation material was manufactured using OPC, lime, anhydrite, and CSA cement in this study. The morphology and physical properties of the material were analyzed using XRD. All samples had ettringite, Ca(OH)2, and CaCO3 crystals. The XRD peak intensity of the ettringite and Ca(OH)2 slightly increased with an increase in curing time from 3 to 7 days. The compressive strength values at 28 days of specimens 1–8 were in the range of 0.25–0.32 MPa, and the compressive strength values of specimens 3–8 were > 0.3 MPa. The coefficients of correlation between compressive strength and apparent gravity at 7 days and those between compressive strength and ettringite/Ca(OH)2 XRD peak intensity at 28 days were above 0.8. That is, the compressive strength exhibited an influence on apparent gravity at 7 days and on hydrate at 28 days. The thermal conductivity of all specimens was 0.041–0.045 W/mK, and the highest value of thermal conductivity was shown by specimen 5. The coefficient of correlation between apparent gravity and thermal conductivity was 0.84. It was concluded that control of raw materials and hydrates must be considered for manufacturing of insulation materials. The cement-based thermal insulation material in this study could be used in construction fields.

안동 지역의 기상 특성과 안동의 임하댐 건설 전후 기상변화를 알아보고자 기상대와 관측망(AWS)을 통해 입수된 자료를 분석하였던 바 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 안동지역의 기상 특성을 전국(대전, 청주)과 비교하여 보면, 안동지역의 월 최고기온은 낮은 반면 월 최저기온은 높은 분포를 보여 월교차는 다른 지역에 비해 10C정도가 적었다. 습도는 전국과 비슷하였으나 겨울철에 조금 낮은 경향을 보였고, 일사량은 4748.7MJ/㎡로 전국의 일사량보다 18.7%정도 높았다. 강우량은 타 지역에 비해 적었으며 특히 장마기에 평균 50mm이상 적게 내렸다. 2. 임하댐 건설 후의 기상 변화를 댐 공사 전 5년간('83~'87)과 댐 공수 후 5년간('92~'96)의 자료를 분석하여 부면, 임하댐 건설 후의 기온은 겨울철에 다소 높게 나타났으나 다른 시기에는 거의 비슷한 변화를 보였다. 습도는 댐 건설 전후가 거의 비슷하였지만 6월 중순을 기준하여 그 후는 댐 건설 후가 조금 낮은 분포를 보였다. 강우량은 장마기 이후에 댐 건술 후가 50~100mm정도 적게 내렸다. 일사량은 댐 건설 후가 댐 건설 전에 비해 전체적으로는 높은 편이었고, 7~10월에는 더욱 많아졌다. 3. 임하댐으로부터 거리에 따른 3지점(댐축, 신덕, 안동대)의 기상변화를 비교하면 기온은 10~12월을 제외하고 댐축이 신덕이나 안동대 보다 조금 높게 나타났다. 지온은 봄철까지는 댐축이 조금 높게 유지하다가 여름철에 접어들면서 낮아지는 경향을 보였다. 일사량은 댐축이나 안동대는 거의 비슷한 분포를 나타냈고, 7월을 제외하고는 신덕 지역이 비교적 낮게 나타났다. 강우량은 댐축(943.4mm)이 안동대(849.8mm)보다 많았고, 특히 장마기에 댐축의 강루양이 증가하였다. This study was carried out to estimate the microclimatic changes of Andong area as the starting from Imha dam construction since 1983. The obtained results were summarized as follow. As comparing with temperatures of the whole country including Taejeon and Chungju area, the monthly maximum air temperature was lower, but the mimimum air temperature was higher than those of other regions. So the ranges of monthly air temperature was narrowed in Andong. Humidity was shown as same as that of the whole country except the winter season. Total solar radiation of Andong was increased 18.7% more than the whole country. And the precipitation of Andong was lower than other regions, especially it was less 50mm during the rainy season. After Imha-dam construction(1992~1996), the average air tempera-ture was not different to pre-construction of dam(1983~1987) except the air temperature of winter in Andong was slightly high. The precipitation was less as 50~100mm after the rainy season and the solar radiation was much from July to October in Andong than those of other regions after dam construction. As the distance from the Imha-dam, the climate of three points(Dam-side, Shinduck, Andong Univ.) were compared. The temperature was slightly higher than others beside of October, November, and December. And the soil temperature of the dam-side was shown a tendency as high until summer, but as low after summer. In solar radiation it was high at Shinduck, and in the precipitation it was high at dam-side especially in the rainy season.
Analysis of Characteristics of Slurry and Thermal Insulation Materials Using Hauyne Cement

This study focused on manufacturing an inorganic insulation material set with various amounts of calcium-sulfoaluminate (CSA) (hauyne) content for enhancing both workability (demolding, handling) and the high thermal insulating property. To carry out the experiment, the amounts of CSA utilized were 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%, with anhydrous gypsum added in equal proportion to produce a stable formation. As the content of CSA increased, a sinking phenomenon occurred because of the hydration reaction from the slurry, so it was difficult to utilize a retarder normally used in the cement manufacturing process. However, an RCOOM surfactant was able to solve the local clumping problem from cement and CSA and obtain a rapid retarding effect, so it was included in this process at 0.3%. Furthermore, the cement fineness was not 7000 cm2/g but rather 3300 ~ 4000 cm2/g to prevent a rapid temperature increase in the slurry. The specific gravity of the sample manufactured with 20% CSA was approximately 0.11 g/cm3, and its thermal conductivity was 0.041 W/m·K, providing an excellent insulating property.
