<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Inclusive ϒ(1S) and ϒ(2S) production have been measured in Pb–Pb collisions at the centre-of-mass energy per nucleon–nucleon pair s NN = 5.02 TeV, using the ALICE detector at the CERN LHC. The ϒ mesons are reconstructed in the centre-of-mass rapidity interval 2.5 < y < 4 and in the transverse-momentum range p T < 15 GeV/<I>c</I>, via their decays to muon pairs. In this Letter, we present results on the inclusive ϒ(1S) nuclear modification factor R AA as a function of collision centrality, transverse momentum and rapidity. The ϒ(1S) and ϒ(2S) R AA , integrated over the centrality range 0–90%, are 0.37 ± 0.02 ( stat ) ± 0.03 ( syst ) and 0.10 ± 0.04 ( stat ) ± 0.02 ( syst ) , respectively, leading to a ratio R AA ϒ ( 2S ) / R AA ϒ ( 1S ) of 0.28 ± 0.12 (stat) ± 0.06 (syst) . The observed ϒ(1S) suppression increases with the centrality of the collision and no significant variation is observed as a function of transverse momentum and rapidity.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Transverse momentum ( p T ) spectra of charged particles at mid-pseudorapidity in Xe–Xe collisions at s NN = 5.44 TeV measured with the ALICE apparatus at the Large Hadron Collider are reported. The kinematic range 0.15 < p T < 50 GeV / c and | η | < 0.8 is covered. Results are presented in nine classes of collision centrality in the 0–80% range. For comparison, a pp reference at the collision energy of s = 5.44 TeV is obtained by interpolating between existing pp measurements at s = 5.02 and 7 TeV. The nuclear modification factors in central Xe–Xe collisions and Pb–Pb collisions at a similar center-of-mass energy of s NN = 5.02 TeV, and in addition at 2.76 TeV, at analogous ranges of charged particle multiplicity density 〈 d N ch / d η 〉 show a remarkable similarity at p T > 10 GeV / c . The centrality dependence of the ratio of the average transverse momentum 〈 p T 〉 in Xe–Xe collisions over Pb–Pb collision at s = 5.02 TeV is compared to hydrodynamical model calculations.</P>

<P>We measure the forward-backward asymmetry of the production of top-quark and antiquark pairs in proton-antiproton collisions at center-of-mass energy root s = 1.96 TeV using the full data set collected by the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) in Tevatron Run II corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9.1 fb(-1). The asymmetry is characterized by the rapidity difference between top quarks and antiquarks (Delta y) and measured in the final state with two charged leptons (electrons and muons). The inclusive asymmetry, corrected to the entire phase space at parton level, is measured to be A(FB)(t (t) over bar) = 0.12 +/- 0.13, consistent with the expectations from the standard model (SM) and previous CDF results in the final state with a single charged lepton. The combination of the CDF measurements of the inclusive A(FB)(t (t) over bar) in both final states yields A(FB)(t (t) over bar) 0.160 +/- 0.045, which is consistent with the SM predictions. We also measure the differential asymmetry as a function of Delta y. A linear fit to A(FB)(t (t) over bar) (vertical bar Delta y vertical bar),assuming zero asymmetry at Delta y = 0, yields a slope of alpha = 0.14 +/- 0.15, consistent with the SM prediction and the previous CDF determination in the final state with a single charged lepton. The combined slope of A(FB)(t (t) over bar) (vertical bar Delta y vertical bar) the two final states is alpha = 0.227 +/- 0.057, which is 2.0 sigma larger than the SM prediction.</P>
Hymenobacter daecheongensis sp. nov., isolated from stream sediment
Xu, J.-L.,Liu, Q.-M.,Yu, H.-S.,Jin, F.-X.,Lee, S.-T.,Im, W.-T. Microbiology Society 2009 International journal of systematic and evolutiona Vol.59 No.5
<P>A Gram-negative, strictly aerobic, non-spore-forming, rod-shaped, red-pink bacterium, designated strain Dae14(T), was isolated from stream sediment collected near Daecheong Dam, South Korea, and its taxonomic position was investigated by using a polyphasic approach. Phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain Dae14(T) belonged to the genus Hymenobacter. Sequence similarities between strain Dae14(T) and the type strains of Hymenobacter species with validly published names ranged from 91.3 to 94.3 %. The predominant cellular fatty acids of strain Dae14(T) were iso-C(15 : 0), C(16 : 1)omega5c, summed feature 5 (iso-C(17 : 1) I and/or anteiso-C(17 : 1) B) and iso-C(16 : 0). The DNA G+C content was 62.2 mol%. Results of phylogenetic, chemotaxonomic and phenotypic characterization indicated that strain Dae14(T) can be distinguished from all known Hymenobacter species and represents a novel species, for which the name Hymenobacter daecheongensis sp. nov. is proposed, with Dae14(T) (=KCTC 22258(T)=LMG 24498(T)) as the type strain.</P>

<P>The lifetime of the B-s(0) meson is measured in the decay channel B-s(0) -> J/Psi pi(+)pi(-) with 880 <= M pi+pi- <= 1080 MeV/c(2), which is mainly a CP-odd state and dominated by the f(0)(980) resonance. In 10.4 fb(-1) of data collected with the D0 detector in Run II of the Tevatron, the lifetime of the B-s(0) meson is measured to be tau(B-s(0)) = 1.70 +/- 0.14(stat) +/- 0.05(syst) ps. Neglecting CP violation in B-s(0)/(B) over bar (0)(s) mixing, the measurement can be translated into the width of the heavy mass eigenstate of the B-s(0), Gamma(H) = 0.59 +/- 0.05(stat) +/- 0.02(syst) ps(-1).</P>
Spirosoma panaciterrae sp. nov., isolated from soil
Ten, L. N.,Xu, J.-L.,Jin, F.-X.,Im, W.-T.,Oh, H.-M.,Lee, S.-T. Microbiology Society 2009 International journal of systematic and evolutiona Vol.59 No.2
<P>A Gram-negative, yellowish bacterial strain, designated Gsoil 1519(T), was isolated from soil of a ginseng field in Pocheon province (South Korea) and characterized using a polyphasic approach to determine its taxonomic position. Comparative 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis showed that strain Gsoil 1519(T) belongs to the family 'Flexibacteraceae' and is related to Spirosoma rigui KCTC 12531(T) (91.8 % similarity) and Spirosoma linguale LMG 10896(T) (91.5 % similarity). Phylogenetic distances from any other recognized species within the family 'Flexibacteraceae' were greater than 14.7 %. The G+C content of the genomic DNA of strain Gsoil 1519(T) was 50.1 %. The detection of MK-7 as the predominant menaquinone and a fatty acid profile with C(16 : 1)omega5c, summed feature 4 (C(16 : 1)omega7c and/or iso-C(15 : 0) 2-OH), iso-C(15 : 0) and C(16 : 0) as the major acids supported the affiliation of strain Gsoil 1519(T) to the genus Spirosoma. On the basis of its phenotypic properties and phylogenetic distinctiveness, strain Gsoil 1519(T) should be classified in the genus Spirosoma as a representative of a novel species, for which the name Spirosoma panaciterrae sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is Gsoil 1519(T) (=KCTC 22263(T)=DSM 21099(T)).</P>
Measurement of top quark polarization in tt¯ lepton+jets final states
Abazov, V. M.,Abbott, B.,Acharya, B. S.,Adams, M.,Adams, T.,Agnew, J. P.,Alexeev, G. D.,Alkhazov, G.,Alton, A.,Askew, A.,Atkins, S.,Augsten, K.,Aushev, V.,Aushev, Y.,Avila, C.,Badaud, F.,Bagby, L.,Bal American Physical Society 2017 Physical Review D Vol.95 No.1
<P>We present a measurement of top quark polarization in t (t) over bar pair production in p (p) over bar collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV using data corresponding to 9.7 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity recorded with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We consider final states containing a lepton and at least three jets. The polarization is measured through the distribution of lepton angles along three axes: the beam axis, the helicity axis, and the transverse axis normal to the t (t) over bar production plane. This is the first measurement of top quark polarization at the Tevatron using lepton + jet final states and the first measurement of the transverse polarization in t (t) over bar production. The observed distributions are consistent with standard model predictions of nearly no polarization.</P>

This study was conducted to evaluate the potential of the transformed Lactobacillus reuteri Pg4 (T-Pg4) harboring the ${\beta}$-glucanase gene as a poultry probiotic. The probiotic properties of the T-Pg4 strain were evaluated in vitro by their adherence capability and acid and bile salt tolerance, and were evaluated in vivo by their survival and adhesion in the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) of specific-pathogen-free (SPF) chickens. The results showed that the T-Pg4 strain exhibited resistance to acidic conditions and contact with bile salt, and adhered efficiently to the crop and intestinal epithelial cells of chickens in vitro. The T-Pg4 strain also could survive and colonize the gastrointestinal epithelium of the experimental SPF chickens in vivo. In addition, radial enzyme diffusion was used to demonstrate that the Lactobacillus spp. randomly isolated from the GIT of the SPF chickens fed T-Pg4 possessed ${\beta}$-glucanase secretion capability. These findings have demonstrated that the transformed L. reuteri Pg4 survives transit through the stomach and intestine, and may secrete ${\beta}$-glucanase in the chicken GIT. Therefore, it is suggested that this organism could be used as a multifunctional poultry probiotic.
Neutral pion and η meson production at midrapidity in Pb-Pb collisions at sNN=2.76 TeV

<P>Neutral pion and eta meson production in the transverse momentum range 1 < p(T) < 20 GeV/c have been measured at midrapidity by the ALICE experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in central and semicentral Pb-Pb collisions at root S-NN = 2.76 TeV. These results were obtained using the photon conversion method as well as the Photon Spectrometer (PHOS) and Electromagnetic Calorimeter detectors. The results extend the upper p(T) reach of the previous ALICE pi(0) measurements from 12 to 20 GeV/c and present the first measurement of eta meson production in heavy-ion collisions at the LHC. The eta/pi(0) ratio is similar for the two centralities and reaches at high p(T) a plateau value of 0.457 +/- 0.013(stat) +/- 0.018(syst) A suppression of similar magnitude for pi(0) and eta meson production is observed in Pb-Pb collisions with respect to their production in pp collisions scaled by the number of binary nucleon-nucleon collisions. We discuss the results in terms of Next to Leading Order (NLO) pQCD predictions and hydrodynamic models. The measurements show a stronger suppression than observed at lower center-of-mass energies in the p T range 6 < p(T) < 10 GeV/c. For p(T) < 3 GeV/c, hadronization models describe the pi(0) results while for the eta some tension is observed.</P>

Pathologic features can provide valuable information for determining prognosis in IgA nephropathy (IgAN). However, it is uncertain whether the Oxford classification, a new classification of IgAN, can predict renal outcome better than previous ones. We conducted a retrospective cohort study in 500 patients with biopsy-proven IgAN between January 2002 and December 2010 to compare the ability of the Haas and the Oxford classifications to predict renal outcome. Primary outcome was a doubling of the baseline serum creatinine concentration (D-SCr). During a mean follow-up of 68months, 52 (10.4%) and 35 (7.0%) developed D-SCr and end-stage renal disease, respectively. There were graded increases in the development of D-SCr in the higher Haas classes. In addition, the primary endpoint of D-SCr occurred more in patients with the Oxford M and T lesions than those without such lesions. In multivariate Cox regression analyses, the Haas class V (HR, 12.19; P=.002) and the Oxford T1 (hazard ratio [HR], 6.68; P<.001) and T2 (HR, 12.16; P<.001) lesions were independently associated with an increased risk of reaching D-SCr. Harrell's C index of each multivariate model with the Haas and the Oxford classification was 0.867 (P=.015) and 0.881 (P=.004), respectively. This was significantly higher than that of model with clinical factors only (C=0.819). However, there was no difference in C-statistics between the 2 models with the Haas and the Oxford classifications (P=.348). This study suggests that the Haas and the Oxford classifications are comparable in predicting progression of IgAN.
