A heated square cylinder (with height A*) is kept parallel to the cold wall at a fixed gap height 0.5A* from the wall. Another adiabatic rectangular cylinder (of same height A* and width 0.5A*) is placed upstream in an inline tandem arrangement. The spacing between the two cylinders is fixed at 3.0A*. The inlet flow is taken as Couette-Poiseuille flow based non-linear velocity profile. The conventional fluid (also known as base fluid) is chosen as water (W) whereas the nanoparticle material is selected as Al2O3. Numerical simulations are performed by using SIMPLE algorithm based Finite Volume approach with staggered grid arrangement. The dependencies of hydrodynamic and heat transfer characteristics of the cylinder on non-dimensional parameters governing the nanofluids and the fluid flow are explored here. A critical discussion is made on the mechanism of improvement/reduction (due to the presence of the upstream cylinder) of heat transfer and drag coefficient, in comparison to those of an isolated cylinder. It is observed that the heat transfer increases with the increase in the non-linearity in the incident velocity profile at the inlet. For the present range studied, particle concentration has a negligible effect on heat transfer.
Recasting respectability: Imagination, desire and modernity among call-center workers in India
Swati Mishra 이화여자대학교 아시아여성학센터 2017 Asian Journal of Women's Studies(AJWS) Vol.23 No.2
This article explores changing gendered identities of young, unmarried, Indian, middle class women who work in transnational call centres (TNCs) in Bangalore, within the broader context of cultural globalization. While the entry of these organizations has enhanced employment opportunities for the younger population in India, the workplace presents a contested cultural terrain to its female workers, who uphold their traditional class values as an integral part of their modern identities. I portray the richness and depth of the changing aspirations towards individualization, careers and marriage of such women, who migrate from semi-urban areas and become part of a global cultural space. Based on ethnographic research, I suggest that, while these young women frequently frame themselves as dutiful daughters, their attitudes and actions point towards reconfigurations of their identities as modern, professional Indian women, skilled in navigating the altered cultural and economic contexts of their lives in Bangalore.

A Gram-reaction-negative, rod-shaped, and non-motile bacterium designated as Chryseobacterium pectinilyticum G2-70 was isolated from the effluent of a livestock manure treatment plant. The complete genome of the strain consisted of a chromosome with 2,823,139 bp and one circular plasmid with 16,106 bp. The genome with a G + C content of 31.21% contained 2,621 predicted coding sequences, 51 tRNA genes, and 15 rRNA genes. Strain G2-70 showed resistance against amoxicillin as well as ciprofloxacin and the chromosomal DNA contained the corresponding genes, blaOXA (class D beta-lactamase) and adeL (fluoroquinolone antibiotic efflux pump).
Rate parameter estimation for 4-chlorophenol degradation by UV and organic oxidants
Swati Sharma,Mausumi Mukhopadhyay,Z.V.P. Murthy 한국공업화학회 2012 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.18 No.1
The main objective of this study was to evaluate the rate parameters of degradation/mineralization of 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) using organic oxidants, viz., peroxy acetic acid (PAA), para nitro benzoic acid (PNBA),and methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (MEKP), in basic media, in combination with UV irradiation at 254 nm. All the experiments were conducted with varying time intervals, under identical conditions of UV irradiation and pH. The reactions were followed by HPLC analysis for residual concentration and GC–MS for mineralization, and intermediates/product identification. In the present investigation, the residual concentration data of 4-CP against time were analyzed for reaction order determination by differential and integral methods. The differential method yielded fractional order of reaction for all organic oxidants under consideration. Initially the profile was observed to be linear in the time span of 0–45 s for all the organic oxidants used and thus, first-order approximation was applied. The curvilinear path, which followed up till 300 s, was approximated to first-order and second-order kinetics. No noteworthy results were observed for pseudo-first order rate equation. The change in the nature of the curves was attributed to the formation of intermediates/reaction products.

Background: Cardiac evaluation before deceased donor kidney transplant (DDKT) remains a matter of debate. Data on Asian countries and countries with prolonged waiting times are lacking. This study aimed to assess the outcomes of patients referred for DDKT after a cardiac evaluation at an Asian tertiary transplant center. Methods: This single-center retrospective review analyzed patients who were referred for waitlist placement and underwent cardiac stress testing between January 2009 and December 2015. Patients with cardiac symptoms were excluded. The primary outcome was three-point major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), a composite of non-fatal myocardial infarction, non-fatal stroke, and cardiovascular death. Results: Of 468 patients referred for DDKT, 198 who underwent cardiac stress testing (myocardial perfusion studies in 159 patients and stress echocardiography in 39 patients) were analyzed. MACE occurred in 20.7% of the patients over a median follow-up of 4.6 years. Cardiac stress tests were positive for ischemia in 19.7% of the patients. Coronary angiography was performed in 63 patients, including 29 patients with diabetic kidney disease and negative cardiac stress tests. Significant coronary artery disease (CAD) was detected in 27 patients (42.8%), of whom 18 underwent revascularization. MACE was associated with significant CAD on coronary angiography in the multivariable analysis. Cardiac stress test results were not associated with MACE. Amongst diabetic patients who had negative cardiac stress tests, 37.9% had significant CAD on coronary angiography. Conclusions: The cardiovascular disease burden is significant amongst DDKT waitlist candidates. Pretransplant cardiac screening may identify patients with significant CAD at higher risk of MACE.
Energy of partial complements of a graph
SWATI NAYAK,SABITHA DSOUZA,GOWTHAM H. J.,PRADEEP G. BHAT 장전수학회 2019 Proceedings of the Jangjeon mathematical society Vol.22 No.3
The partial complement of a graph G with respect to a set S denoted by G S is the graph obtained by removing the edges of hSi and adding edges which are not in hSi in G. In this paper we introduce the concept of energy of partial complements of graph and partial complement energy is computed for few classes of graphs. Some bounds are obtained for partial complement energy of a graph G.
