      • Learners creativity through mathematical thinking and teaching

Susmita Pathak 아시아사회과학학회 2021 Jornal of Asia Social Science Vol.2 No.3

This paper draws connections between the learners creativity and teaching mathematics. The relationship between developing the creativity and mathematical teaching are interrelated to make the students logical and resourceful. Developing the sense of creativity in learners thinking is possible through the mathematical problem posing and solving. Creativity and mathematics are diverse disciplines that appear together if the ambitious expectation of the learners is accommodated for those who need it in real class room. The fluency of ideas, flexibility in thinking, and novelty in evolving unique knowledge, and elaboration of the concept in the classroom support the learners to be innovative and ingenious. These factors contribute, among others, to the fact that learners display their performance in real life through sound competence in mathematics. Identifying the problems through creative thinking and solving them are good enough to develop the mathematical reasoning and making logic for social life. Being creative and innovative is a part of quality mathematical teaching and it is the ingredient part to perform mathematical assignments. The problem posing and solving are related to the development of mathematical knowledge and creativity. It analyzes the creative product, process as focal points in order to analyze the role of mathematics education in the development of students’ creativity. Finally, this article explores that being creative and mathematical studies in social life are the most. For this, the review of literature is used to justify mathematical creativity, understanding of the creative students; and it discusses the issues and implications for the teaching of mathematics for making the learners creative.

      • Mathematics education for Nepali learners in virtual classroom

Susmita Pathak 아시아사회과학학회 2021 Jornal of Asia Social Science Vol.4 No.1

The purpose of this writing is to share the author’s experience of using the virtual classroom in teaching online mathematics in Nepal. There is increasing national concern on the academic accomplishment of Nepali mathematics learners. Recent national and international studies have justified that the implication of mathematics education in virtual classrooms has been alarmingly supportive in present pandemic. The extent of motivation by the facilitators, learners in the e-classroom, concepts of mathematics teaching, giving assignment and evaluation have proved to be significant. The emotional aspects of teaching mathematics to the particular situation of the pandemic seems significant. Teaching mathematics at a distance is related to the fact that, at the higher education level, the facilitators generally teach mathematics in a formal way using mathematical symbols and formulas. Again, the way mathematics is taught is related to the learners to whom the teaching is addressed. This article explores that teaching mathematics in virtual classroom guides the learners in fruitful directions as they sort out details and experience connections for themselves. The study result shows that the attitudes of the mathematics teachers at tertiary level towards using ICT tools in terms of behavioral engagement and confidence is positive. However, they lack some specific knowledge with technological tools in order to make the classroom more lively and fruitful.

Protective effects of black tea-TV 25 on the cognitive impairments and some peripheral immune responses in intracerebroventricular colchicine injected rats

        Susmita Sil,Kaushik Bhandari,Pritha Gupta,Rupsa Ghosh,Analava Mitra,Bijoy Chandra Ghosh,Tusharkanti Ghosh 경희대학교 융합한의과학연구소 2018 Oriental Pharmacy and Experimental Medicine Vol.18 No.1

India is the largest consumer of black tea in the world, which has been reported to have different protective functions in several diseases. TV 25 variety back tea has high content of polyphenols and has anti-oxidant potential. This anti-oxidant property of black tea (TV 25 variety) may prove to be effective in ameliorating the oxidative stress, neuroinflammation linked cognitive impairments and peripheral immune responses in intracerebroventricular colchicine injected rats (ICIR). However, there is no report in literature in this regard. Aim of the study: Therefore, this study has been designed to investigate the effects of black tea (BT) (TV 25 variety) on the colchicine induced cognitive impairments, acetylcholine esterase activity and peripheral immune responses along with oxidative/ nitrosative stress. The oxidative stress (OS)/ nitrosative stress (NS) and increased acetylcholine esterase level in the hippocampus of ICIR were associated with working and reference memory impairments along with changes of stress markers of serum and alteration of peripheral immune responses (higher phagocytic activity of blood WBC and splenic PMN, higher cytotoxicity and lower leukocyte adhesion inhibition index of splenic MNC). Administration of BT in ICIR resulted in recovery of colchicine induced memory impairments, acetylcholine esterase level in the hippocampus, OS and NS in hippocampus and serum along with recovery of peripheral immune responses and serum corticosterone level. Therefore, it appears that the anti-oxidant potential of BT (TV 25) is potent enough to protect the colchicine induced OS/ NS and related memory impairments in ICIR.

The effect of engineered PLGA nanoparticles on nitrifying bacteria in the soil environment

Susmita Das Nishu,Seungbin Park,Yuhyun Ji,Il Han,Jaehong Key,Tae Kwon Lee 한국공업화학회 2020 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.84 No.-

As a result of their biodegradability and biocompatibility, various nanoparticles using poly(lactic-coglycolicacid) (PLGA) as a copolymer have shown promising results in biomedical engineeringfields, including molecular imaging and drug delivery. However, the potential nanotoxicity of PLGA-basednanoparticles in the environment was poorly understood. Measurement of bacterial nitrificationactivities and changes in the soil microbial community are both critical parameters that should be used toevaluate potential distrurbances in the functioning of the environmental ecosystem. This study aimed toinvestigate the impact of PLGA nanoparticles with different zeta-potentials on nitrifying bacterialcommunities in the soil environment. In pure culture studies, the ammonia oxidation was inhibited byhigher than 50% when PLGA cocentration is more than 0.05 mg/L or more regardless of zeta potential andexposure time, but the negligible effects were observed on the nitrite oxidation by most conditions. In thesoil microcosm experiment, at the 0.05 concentration of the oparticles, the ammonia and nitriteoxidation were inhibited by more than 50% on thefirst day regardless of the nanoparticle composition, but all the activity was recovered after 14 days. These results provide a fundamental information on thetoxcity of PLGA nanparticles on ecologcial function.

Culture,Literature : Tar Baby : Search for Identity in Commodity Culture

( Susmita Talukdar ) 경희대학교 비교문화연구소 2013 比較文化硏究 Vol.32 No.-

Tar Baby, Toni Morrison`s fourth novel re examines the problem that black characters face in negotiatiating a place for themselves within a dominant culture, with respect their own history and culture. The novel critiques the dominant socio economic and commodifying cultural space from which the black woman seems to have no escape. Jadine is a colonized subject, for as a fashion model she has surrendered to an aesthetics of commodification, and as a student of art history, she has internalized the capitalist ethic of the white culture industry. Though she has ensured her freedom, Morrison`s critique of her separation from her family and culture is unmistakable. Interwoven with her narrative is Son`s predicament, the stereotype of a black racist and her ‘love’. The novel ends with him at the crossroads of culture, yet signaling his passage to freedom through resistance. The paper arguments how Toni Morrison has envisioned the welfare of African American community by reconstructing the role of new black generation, as represented by Jadine and Son, whose new journey towards their self fulfillment just not bring their personal freedom but also regenerates African American community by resisting dominant commodifying cultural.

Acoustic Studies on Different Binary Liquid Mixtures of LIX Reagents with Different Diluents

Kamila, Susmita Korean Chemical Society 2012 대한화학회지 Vol.56 No.5

Ultrasonic velocity and density measurements have been undertaken for a number of binary liquid mixtures involving different commercial solvent extractants, LIX reagents. The binary mixtures under investigation have been classified under two categories such as polar-polar, and polar-non-polar types. Different theories and relations such as Schaaff's Collision Factor Theory (CFT), Nomoto's relation (NOM), and Van Dael & Vangeel ideal mixing relation (IMR) have been used to evaluate the velocity theoretically for all these binary systems. The relative merits of afore-mentioned theories and relations compared to experimental values of velocity have been discussed in terms of percentage variations. However, the CFT and Nomoto's relation show better agreement with the experimental findings than the ideal mixing relation for all the systems under investigation.

Spatiotemporal Analysis of Tropical Cyclone Landfalls in Northern Bay of Bengal, India and Bangladesh

        Sunando Bandyopadhyay,Susmita Dasgupta,Zahirul Huque Khan,David Wheeler 한국기상학회 2021 Asia-Pacific Journal of Atmospheric Sciences Vol.57 No.4

In the Northern Bay of Bengal (NBoB), cyclonic storms (wind speed: ≥34 knots) inflict considerable losses in coastal Bangladesh and India. By building a georeferenced panel database of storm landfalls for this region, one can obtain spatial information on period-wise strike intensities. In this study, 168 cyclone strike locations along a 1259-km impact zone were analyzed for seven historical periods between 1877 and 2016. Cyclone landfall trends for this region denote a gradual reduction in storm frequencies since peaking in 1961–1980, which is generally in line with already established trends for the Northern Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal basins. One notable exception for the NBoB in this is the unimodal seasonality of storm landfalls during 1877–1960, but that also conformed to the bimodal regional trends in the later periods. Over time, the median location of storm strikes in the NBoB has shifted eastward into westernmost Bangladesh, with a particularly marked variability in location after 1960. Northern Odisha and West Bengal, India, experienced more cyclone strikes over the past 140 years; but the highest mean wind speeds occurred along Bangladesh’s eastern coast. Also, storm impacts have varied considerably within and across zones; northern Odisha and the Sundarban region of West Bengal have withstood the greatest impacts. The pronounced spatial and temporal variations in cyclone impacts evinced in this study can provide valuable information for relief prioritization and community adaptation to cyclones in the region. The general method developed for this analysis can be applied to other coastal locations for management of storm impacts.
