사회주의 가정의 붕괴와 재결합 -리준길의 『전설은 계속된다』를 중심으로-

본고에서는 리준길의 중편소설 『전설은 계속된다』를 통하여 북측이 재난을 극복하는 양상을 분석하였다. 본고는 문학사회학을 기본 연구 방법론으로 하며, 북측 연구 방법론으로 새롭게 제기된 ‘주자학적 접근법’을 적용하였다. ‘주자학적 접근법’은 북측이 표방하는 사회주의 대가정이라는 개념을 이해함에 있어 절실하다. 북측이 표방하는 사회주의 대가정은 대를 이어 수령이 지도하고, 주민들은 수령을 어버이처럼 여기며 충성과 효도를 다하는 것이라고 이해할 수 있다. 고난의 행군, 강행군시기에 자강도 희천시의 상황이 악화되자 승철이 어머니는 외가가 있는 자강도 동신군 석포리로 떠나가 버린다. 반면에 설비과장으로 일하던 승철이 아버지는 자진해서 다시 주물직장 전기로공이 되면서까지 희천공작기계공장을 위하여 헌신한다. 어머니가 집을 나간 것은 승철이네 가정의 문제이다. 그런데 어머니의 부재로 아버지가 마음 놓고 연구에 집중하지 못한다. 아버지의 연구는 국가의 문제이다. 그러므로 승철이네 가정의 문제는 사회주의 대가정의 문제와 따로 떼어놓고 생각할 수 없다. 사회주의 가정은 사회주의 대가정과 유기적으로 모두 연결되어 있는 것이다. 승철이는 아버지를 더 잘 돕기 위하여, 멀리 동신까지 찾아가서 집을 나간 어머니를 데려온다. 어머니를 데려온 사람은 승철이지만, 승철이를 떨쳐나서게 한 사람은 강계정신을 체현한 아버지이다. 결국 강계정신이 붕괴되었던 사회주의 가정의 재결합을 이끈 것이다. 붕괴되었던 사회주의 가정의 재결합은 사회주의 대가정에 들이닥친 재난인 고난의 행군, 강행군이 극복되는 것을 상징한다. This study analyzed the aspect of DPRK overcoming disasters through Ri Jun Gil’s medium-length novel The legend continues. This study uses literary sociology as a basic research methodology, and applied the Zhūzǐxué approach, which is newly raised as a DPRK research methodology. The Zhū zǐxué approach is desperately needed to understand the concept of a socialist great family advocated by DPRK. It can be understood that the socialist great family advocated by DPRK is guided by the leader from generation to generation, and that the residents regard the leader as a parent and fulfill loyalty and filial piety. During the days of the Arduous March and forced march, when the situation in Huichon city, Jagang Province, worsened, Sungchol’s mother left for her mother’s home. On the other hand, Sungchol’s father was working as a facilities section manager, but he devoted himself to becoming again a worker at the electric furnace of the casting workplace for the Huichon machine tool factory. It is a matter of Sungchol’s family that mother leave home. Anyway, Sungchol’s father cannot relax and focus on research because Sungchol’s mother is not there. Sungchol’s father’s research is a matter of state. Therefore, the problem of Sungchol’s family cannot be thought of separately from the problem of the socialist great family. The socialist family is organically connected to both the socialist great family. To help his father better, Sungchol goes far and brings his runaway mother. It was Sungchol who brought his mother, but his father inspired Sungchol to leave by embodying Kanggye Spirit. In the end, Kanggye Spirit also resulted in reuniting the collapsed socialist family. The reunited of the collapsed socialist family symbolizes the overcoming of the days of the Arduous March and forced march, a disaster that hit the socialist great family.

북한 주민의 소비생활 변화와 함의

2000년대 이후 북한 통치세력은 핵심적인 기업과 산업이라 할 수 있는 군수 산업, 중공업 부문은 국가가 직접 관리·통제하지만 경공업 부문 등 소비재 부문과 일부 물자 유통 시장은 시장에 맡기는 방식의 이중 구조화를 선택한 것으로 평가된다. ‘사회주의 경제건설’을 통해 전체 인민들에게 ‘문명한 생활’을 마련해 주겠다는 통치 전략에 기반하여 경공업 육성과 보건의료 부문의 현대화를 꾀하고 있다. 이에 의생활의 다양화 및 브랜드 형성, 가전제품과 핸드폰 사용의 증가, 교통수단 이용의 확대, 여가 활용을 위한 위락시설의 증가 등 주민들의 소비생활에서의 변화가 포착되고 있다. 그러나 북한의 시장화에서 파생된 소득의 불균형은 하위 계층들의 삶과 생활의 곤란으로 이어지며 노동의 상품화가 이뤄지고 있는 반면 상위 계층들은 합리적인 소비생활을 할 적당한 여가 문화와 휴식 공간을 갖고 있지 못한 것이 현실이다. 이러한 점을 고려할 때 향후 남북 교류·협력의 핵심은 단순한 인도주의적 지원을 넘어서 북한의 낙후된 지역의 종합적 개발, 북한 인적 자본의 향상과 같이 장기적이고 거시적인 측면에서 기획되고 추진되어야 한다. The North Korean government is regarded to have chosen, in and after the 2000s, a dual economic structure, leaving the consumer goods sector such as the light industry and material distribution to the market, while still maintaining its direct control over the military and heavy industry sectors. Also, in line with its governance strategy for furnishing all people with a “civilized living” by “building a socialist economy,” the North Korean government has attempted to foster the light industry and modernize the health care sector. Accordingly, changes have been observed in the consumer life of North Koreans, including the diversification of clothing style, the emergence of clothing brand names, the increase in the use of home appliances and mobile phones, the expansion of transportation use, and the increase of recreational facilities for leisure use. However, the trend of marketization in North Korea has led to increased income inequality and in turn has made life difficult for the lower classes whose labor is being commercialized. Meanwhile, the upper classes have no culture of leisure and find themselves unable to find places to take rest. Considering this situation, inter-Korean bridging and cooperation for the future needs to be planned and promoted from a long-term and macro perspective, seeking the wide-ranging development of North Korea's underdeveloped regions and the improvement of North Korean human capital, beyond simple humanitarian aid.

Notes on Ellipsis and Movement Asymmetries

Korean Journal of Linguistics, 40-2, 00-00, Movement and ellipsis have common features in both conceptual and empirical grounds. Conceptually, both movement and ellipsis share an operation “delete” and contain copies lacking phonological elements under the standard minimalistic treatments. Empirically, certain categories seem to undergo both ellipsis and movement, and may be subject to similar conditions. However, some categories can undergo only movement, but other categories can undergo only ellipsis. This paper aims to show that conditions on movement and ellipsis are not reducible to a single principle, and are subject to independent licensing principles in UG. We propose two overarching licensing conditions on movement and ellipsis; (i) only functional categories can license the ellipsis of their complements, (ii) movable categories should be phases. Given these conditions, our proposal can explain ellipsis and movement asymmetries in English. (Konkuk University & Yeungnam University)

Determinants of Overall Satisfaction with Virtual Events: An Application of The IS Success Model Perspective

Purpose - During the global pandemic, the demands for virtual events have considerably increased and have received significant attention from practitioners and researchers. This study aims to explore critical factors that influence overall satisfaction with virtual events and its impact on word of mouth (WOM). Design, data, and methodology -A self-administered questionnaire was distributed to adults in the U.S. who had attended a virtual event in the last six months. In total, 699 responses were collected and analyzed using a structural equational model. Result - The results of this study indicate that e-service quality (e.g., vividness and responsiveness) has a significant influence on satisfaction with virtual events and subsequently affects WOM.. Conclusions - This study extends the generalizability of the information systems (IS) success model into the context of virtual events. The findings of this study allow marketing managers of event organizations to better understand and examine the critical determinants of overall satisfaction with virtual events.

독일어 습득이 성인 인지 기능에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 신경언어학적인 방법론을 활용하여 독일어 학습이 성인의 통제기능 향상에 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 분석 결과, 통제기능의 두 가지 하위기능인 목표 활성화와 전환기능에 있어서 독일어 학습이 성인의 인지능력에 별다른 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 선행연구에서 성인의 외국어 습득이 인지 기능 향상에 영향을 미치지 못한다는 주장을 뒷받침하고 있다. 또한, 본 연구와 동일한 실험 패러다임으로 청소년을 대상으로 통제기능의 향상 효과를 확인한 선행연구와 비교하면서, 외국어 습득의 인지 효과는 습득 시기가 빠를수록 뚜렷하게 나타남을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과는 습득 시기에 따른 외국어 습득의 차이를 설명하는 언어습득 이론과 맥락을 함께 하고 있다. 본 연구는 지금까지 논의되어 온 외국어 습득의 인지 효과에 대한 학문적 논의 과정에 새로운 연구결과를 제공하는 한편, 이전에 수행되지 않았던 새로운 방법론을 구현하여 후속 연구 수행을 위한 방법론적 토대를 마련하는 데 기여하고자 하였다. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wurde versucht, den Einfluss des Deutschlernens auf die Verbesserung der Exekutiven Funktionen bei Erwachsenen mit neurolinguistischen Methoden zu analysieren. Die Zeit-Frequenz-Analyse ergab, dass das Erlernen der deutschen Sprache keine Auswirkungen auf die beiden Unterfunktionen der Exekutiven Funktionen, Zielaktivierung (Goal maintanance) und Konvertierungsfunktion (Switching function) hatte. Diese Ergebnisse untermauern die Annahme, dass das Fremdsprachenerwerb bei Erwachsenen nur geringe Auswirkungen auf die Verbesserung der kognitiven Funktion hat. Darüber hinaus bestätigte diese Arbeit, dass der kognitive Effekt des Fremdsprachenerwerbs mit Beginn der Lernphase zu tut hat. Dazu wurden die Ergebnisse dieser Studie mit denen der vorigen Arbeit verglichen, in der eine Verbesserung der Exekutiven Funktionen durch das Deutschlernen im Jugendalter bestätigt wurde. Beide Studien arbeiteten mit den gleichen experimentellen Paradigmen. Diese Ergebnisse stehen im Zusammenhang mit der Kritische-Periode-Theorie, die die Unterschiede beim Fremdsprachenerwerb nach Erwerbszeit erklärt. Diese Studie präsentiert neue Forschungsergebnisse zu den kognitiven Auswirkungen des Fremdsprachenerwerbs bei Erwachsenen und kann dazu beitragen, eine methodische Grundlage für zukünftige Forschungsarbeiten mit neuen Methoden zu schaffen, die zuvor noch nicht durchgeführt wurden.

The Phase Impenetrability Condition and its Cross-linguistic Evidence

Within the framework of the Minimalist Program, a strong notion of cyclic derivation is expressed as a phase-impenetrability condition. According to the condition, operation such as Move and Agree cannot look into a strong phase below its head. Specifically, the head and its specs are visible for selection and movement. The aim of this paper is to account for cross-linguisic data which show movement restriction as consequences of the phase-impenetrability condition.
