      • Assessment of Hepatic Steatosis Improvement Using Controlled Attenuation Parameter in Patients with Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease under Regular Follow Up

        Aims: The change of hepatic steatosis in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) patients under regular follow up has not been widely investigated. We investigated the serial changes of hepatic steatosis assessed by controlled attenuation parameter (CAP) and the predictors for improvement of hepatic steatosis in NAFLD patients. Methods: Among 513 NAFLD patients diagnosed upon ultrasound and CAP > 250 dB/m at baseline, 304 patients underwent repeated CAP measurement at baseline and at follow up. The improvement of hepatic steatosis was defined as a >10% decline of CAP value from the baseline. Results: Mean age of 304 patients was 58.8 ± 11.4 years and 80.1% were male. The mean CAP value significantly decreased from baseline to follow up (292.3 dB/m to 277.1 dB/m, P<0.001). During the median follow up of 15.3 (9.5-20.3) months, 34.5% patients showed improvement of hepatic steatosis. In a univariate analysis, low body mass index (BMI), low weight, low liver stiffness value, low triglyceride level, and low ALT at follow up were predictors for improvement of hepatic steatosis. In multivariate analyses, low weight (P=0.004; hazard ratio [HR],0.965; confidence interval [CI], 0.941-0.988) and low ALT (P=0.004; HR,0.971;CI, 0.951-0.990) at follow up, or low BMI (P=0.006; HR,0.881; CI, 0.805-0.964) and low ALT (P=0.004; HR,0.971; CI, 0.951-0.990) at follow up were the independent predictors. In patients with weight reduction more than 10% (n=22), CAP value significantly decreased (from 288.0 dB/m to 228.9dB/m, P<0.001). Conclusions: Weight reduction, and ALT decrease were independent predictors for improvement of hepatic steatosis. Long term effect of weight reduction on improvement of hepatic steatosis and fibrosis should be investigated further.

        본 논문에서는 계통연계형 인버터에서 요구되는 전력품질 개선 기능, 부하수요관리 기능, 무정전전원공급 기능 등을 전류제어형 전압원 인버터 시스템에서 통합적으로 수행할 수 있는 UPS를 고려한 계통연계형 전류제어 인버터를 제안한다. 제안된 시스템은 평상시에는 무효전력 보상, 고조파 저감, 부하수요관리 등의 PCS(Power Conditioning System) 기능을 을 수행하고 계통 고장시에는 배터리에 저장된 에너지를 이용하여 부하에 즉시 정전압을 공급하는 UPS 기능을 수행한다. 본 연구에서는 제안된 시스템의 동작원리 및 제어 알고리즘을 이론적으로 해석하고 시뮬레이션을 통하여 유용성을 확인한다.

      • Dkk-1 Promotes Angiogenesis through Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

        Aims: Dickkopf-1(DKK1), a negative regulator of the Wnt/ ß-catenin pathway, has been recently found to be up-regulated in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the biological function of DKK1 in HCC has not yet been well documented. Our previous in vitro data suggest that DKK1 can enhance angiogenesis by endothelial cell, independent of the Wnt signaling pathway. This study aimed to investigate the tumorigenic potential and angiogenic role of DKK1 in mouse model. Methods: We assessed tumorigenic functions of DKK1 in Hep3B cells expressing endogenous DKK-1 and in DKK1-deficient Hep3B cells created using CRISPR/Cas9 technology. These edited cells were injected subcutaneously in immunosuppressed mice and tumor growth was followed for 6 weeks. With the evidence of tumorigenic potential in DKK1, transgenic mouse models expressing DKK-1 or luciferase were developed using hydrodynamic transfection. Transposons encoding an activated form of human H-RAS were mixed with transposons encoding either DKK1 or luciferase. All mice were monitored at least twice per week and sacrificed when moribund. Subcutaneous tumors and tumor-bearing livers were formalin fixed for hematoxylin- eosin and immunofluoroscence staining. Results: DKK1-deficient Hep3B xenografts exhibited significantly less growth compared to control Hep3B cells expressing DKK1. In addition, the forced expression of DKK1 with H-RAS through the hydrodynamic transfection formed many tumors in the liver, compared to luciferase liver. We investigated the expression of angiogenesis markers, including CD31, VEGFR2 and mesenchymal markers, including vimentin, fibronectin in the subcutaneous tumors and tumor-bearing livers. Quantity of angiogenic and mesenchymal cells were found to be reduced in the established DKK1 homozygous knockout mice (all P<0.05). Taken together, it was confirmed that the expression of CD31 (P<0.0001), VEGFR2 (P<0.0001), vimentin, and fibronectin (P<0.0001) were up-regulated with DKK1 in the mouse liver. Conclusions: Our findings indicate that DKK1 appears to facilitate angiogenesis, and the progression of HCC through inducing the EMT.

      • 日本文學과 自然觀照 : 古今·文後撰集의 植物을 中心으로 In the Kokin Anthology and the Goseng Anthology

        In may essay published last year, the fact the nature, especially the plants, takes part in the Manyo Anthology as a key medium for the expression of poets' feelings and the species of plants appearedin this anthology rach to 175 kinds, was asserted. It is a very notable fact thepoets of the Manyo Shu discriminated 175 kinds of plants 1,300 years ago. In this essay thepoems of Heian dynasty which folows Aska and Nara dynasty were analysed. As the objects of tudy, the Kokin Anthoiogy and Goseng Anthology which enroll 2,537 poems were chosen. When compared the number of poems, the Manyo-Shu exceeds the Kokin Shu and Gosen-Shu by about 2000, adn the ratio is 9:5, however in the number of plant species the Manyo-Shu exceeds the total plant species of both anthologies by 137 and the ratio is 175:38. This fact teaches us that many species of the Manyo-Shu plants decreased with the passing of time. Adding to this phenomenon. the order of appearance frequency of the plants in thepoems shows a turn over. For example, the cherry blossoms which was the ninth in the manyo-Shu has risen to the top ranking in Kokin-Wakashu, and the bush clover which was the top in themanyo-Shu has fallen to the fourth. The plum trees which was the second in the second in the Manyo-Shu is keeping its positionas before. Such a turnover is a very important index to find out theJapanese outlookon nature. In this essay I tried to make clear the reason why the two following phenomena appeared. One is why this number of plant species in Kolin-Waka shu and Gosen-Wakashu decreased, compared with that of ManyoShu, and theother is why the remarkable turnover in the order of appearance frequency happened with the passing of time from Aska-Nara dynastyti to Heian dynasty.

Therefore, the development of detector with high performance is very important in pulling up the resolution of SEM This study presents the secondary electron detector for use in scanning electron microscope, electric circuit and I/V conversion circuit for driving that detector.

        In this report I have compared the Shijo plants…the plants which appear in Shijo Anthology…with Manyoshu plants. It is a very notable point that poets of Manyoshu have discriminated between 175 kinds of plants about 1200 years ago. This fact teaches us not only their penetrating influence concerning nature in poetry, but also their adhesion to nature itself. In Japanese literature…especially in Manylshu and the other Wakas plants take part in it as an intuitive creation, in other words the poets of Manyoshu and the other Waska had found the beauty of plants not through their oral significance but through their original beauty without adding any moral explanation.

        Statistical interpretations in a bioequivalence trial are considered and studied when the missing observations occurred in 2 × 2 crossover experiment. Patel (1985) suggested the approximate test procedures for carryover effect and drug effect in 2 × 2 crossover design when some of data are missing in the second period. A modified Patel method is newly pro-posed to the bioequivalence trial and it is compared with the current method through the simulation study.

        In this study, I could extract the 5 kinds of patterns on the sensibility of the beautiful in the "Turedure-gusa" which is supposed to be written by Yoshida-Genko (1283-1350) The 5 patterns are as follow. 1. The beauty of the imperfectness. 2. The beauty of the intimation. 3. The beauty of the vagueness. 4. The beauty of the simplicity. 5. The beauty of the archaic. I put focus on the patterns of above 1&2. and I could conclude the following facts. i) The sensibility to the beautiful of a nation has a traditionlity and has the same root as the national culture. ii) The sensibility to the beautiful in Manyoshu & Kokinshu has influence on the building up of the aesthetic sense of Japanese medieval times. iii) The building up of the sensibility to the beautiful of the nature -including all kinds of seasonable goods- is to be illustrated by diagram as follow. a. An outlook on nature founded on nature itself. ↓ -in Manyoshu Age- b. An outlook on nature founded on idealized nature ↓ - in Kokinshu Age- c.       • 野生담배(Nicotiana glauca) Callus의 生長과 葉綠素形成에 미치는 Pnytohormone, Sucrose 및 光度의 影響

        To establish a basis of a photoautotrophic culture, effects of phytohormones, sucrose, and light intensity on growth and chlorophyll foundation of callus were investigated. The callus was induced from the leaf explants of a wild tobacco(Nicotiana glauca Graham) on the MS medium supplemented with 1.0 ㎎/ℓof 2,4-D. Growth of them was arrived at logistic phase for 16 days of culsure which exhibited growth rate of 187.5 mg per day, and arrived at early stationary phase for 28 days. Both NAA in auxins and kinetin in cytokinins known to be effective chlorophyll formation were used as phytohormone. Callus growth and chlorphyll formation were the most effective at the combination of 0.1 ㎎/ℓof NAA and 1.0 ㎎/ℓof kinetin. And chlorophyll a/b was increased according to the increase of the concentration of kinetin. Callus growth was enhanced according to the increase of the concentration of sucrose in the cases supplemented with 0.0, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0 % sucrose respectively to the above medium, but did not make a difference in the cases supplemented with 3.0% and 4.0% sucrose respectively to it. However, chlorophyll formation was not affected by the sucrose concentration in the medium but associated with growth rates of callus in media with various sucrose levels(r=0.89**). On the other hand, the increase in light intensity from 2,000 through 5,000 to 10,000ux stimulated callus growth and chlorophyll formation. Chlorophyll a/b was also enhanced according to the increase of light intensity. However, soluble protein contents of callus were decreased according to growth phase of callus.
