      • THE FIRST NEPTUNE ANALOG OR SUPER-EARTH WITH A NEPTUNE-LIKE ORBIT: MOA-2013-BLG-605LB

        <P>We present the discovery of the first Neptune analog exoplanet or super-Earth with a Neptune-like orbit, MOA-2013-BLG-605Lb. This planet has a mass similar to that of Neptune or a super-Earth and it orbits at 9 similar to 14 times the expected position of the snow line, a(snow), which is similar to Neptune's separation of 11 a(snow) from the Sun. The planet/host-star mass ratio is q = (3.6 +/- 0.7) x 10(-4) and the projected separation normalized by the Einstein radius is s = 2.39 +/- 0.05. There are three degenerate physical solutions and two of these are due to a new type of degeneracy in the microlensing parallax parameters, which we designate 'the wide degeneracy.' The three models have (i) a Neptune-mass planet with a mass of M-p = 21(-7)(+6)M(circle plus) orbiting a low-mass M-dwarf with a mass of M-h = 0.19(-0.06)(+0.05)M(circle dot), (ii) a mini-Neptune with M-p = 7.9(-1.2)(+1.8)M(circle plus) orbiting a brown dwarf host with M-h = 0.068(-0.011)(+0.019)M(circle dot), and (iii) a super-Earth with M-p = 3.2(-0.3)(+0.5)M(circle plus) orbiting a low-mass brown dwarf host with M-h = 0.025(-0.004)(+0.005)M(circle dot), which is slightly favored. The 3D planet-host separations are 4.6(-1.2)(+4.7) au, 2.1(-0.2) (+1.0) au, and 0.94(-0.02)(+0.67) au, which are 8.9(-1.4)(+10.5), 12(-1)(+7), or 14(-1)(+11) times larger than a(snow) for these models, respectively. Keck adaptive optics observations confirm that the lens is faint. This discovery suggests that low-mass planets with Neptune-like orbits are common. Therefore processes similar to the one that formed Neptune in our own solar system or cold super-Earths may be common in other solar systems.</P>

        A COLD NEPTUNE-MASS PLANET OGLE-2007-BLG-368Lb: Cold neptunes are common

        <P>We present the discovery of a Neptune-mass planet OGLE-2007-BLG-368Lb with a planet-star mass ratio of q = [9.5 +/- 2.1] x 10(-5) via gravitational microlensing. The planetary deviation was detected in real-time thanks to the high cadence of the Microlensing Observations in Astrophysics survey, real-time light-curve monitoring and intensive follow-up observations. A Bayesian analysis returns the stellar mass and distance at M(l) = 0.64(-0.26)(+0.21) M(circle dot) and D(l) = 5.9(-1.4)(+ 0.9) kpc, respectively, so the mass and separation of the planet are M(p) = 20(-8)(+7) M(circle plus) and a = 3.3(-0.8)(+1.4) AU, respectively. This discovery adds another cold Neptune-mass planet to the planetary sample discovered by microlensing, which now comprises four cold Neptune/super-Earths, five gas giant planets, and another sub-Saturn mass planet whose nature is unclear. The discovery of these 10 cold exoplanets by the microlensing method implies that the mass ratio function of cold exoplanets scales as dN(pl)/d log q alpha q(-0.7+/-0.2) with a 95% confidence level upper limit of n < -0.35 ( where dN(pl)/d log q alpha q(n)). As microlensing is most sensitive to planets beyond the snow-line, this implies that Neptune-mass planets are at least three times more common than Jupiters in this region at the 95% confidence level.</P>

      • An Adaptive PSO Algorithm Based Test Data Generator for Data-Flow Dependencies using Dominance Concepts

        One of the most important and effort intensive activity of the entire software development process is software testing. The effort involved chiefly increases because of the need to obtain optimal test data out of the entire search space of the problem under testing. Software test data generation is one area that has seen tremendous research in terms of automation and optimization. Generating or identifying an optimal test set that satisfies a more robust adequacy criteria, like data flow testing, is still a challenging task. A number of heuristic and meta-heuristics like genetic algorithm (GA), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) have been applied to optimize the test data generation problem. GA, although more popular, has its own difficulties such as complex to implement and slow convergence rate. In this paper an Adaptive Particle Swarm Optimization (APSO) algorithm is applied to generate test data for data-flow dependencies of a program guided by a novel fitness function. Adaptive PSO is used because of its capability of balancing in exploration and exploitation. A new fitness function is designed based on the concepts of dominance relations, weighted branch distance for APSO to guide the search direction. A set of benchmark programs and four modules of Krishna Institute of Engineering and Technology (KIET), Enterprise resource planning (ERP) system were taken for the experimental analysis. The experimental results show that the proposed adaptive PSO based approach performed significantly better than random search, Genetic Algorithm and PSO in enhancing the convergence speed.

      • Design of Slotted Square Microstrip Patch Antenna Connected with Rectangular Shaped Meta Material Structure to Enhance Parameters at 2.6GHz

        In this work, Rectangular Micro strip Patch Antenna (RMPA) along with Meta material which has design of “Slotted Square Connected with Rectangular shaped cover structure” is proposed at height of 3.2 mm from the ground plane. The RMPA with proposed Meta material structure is designed to resonate at 2.6 GHz frequency. This work is mainly focused on increasing the potential parameters of micro strip patch antenna. Proposed Meta material structure is significantly reduced the return loss and increased the bandwidth and directivity of the antenna with compare to RMPA alone. The bandwidth is increased up to 22MHz in comparison to RMPA alone. The return loss of proposed antenna is reduced by 41.88dB by incorporating the proposed Meta material structure. For simulation purpose CST-MWS Software has been used.

        On common fixed points for generalized contractive type mappings in ordered metric spaces

        Copper nanoparticles interlocked phase-change microcapsules for thermal buffering in packaging application

        A novel kind of functionalized copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) interlocked polydivinylbenzene (PDVB)microcapsules containing hexadecane as phase change material (PCM) was synthesized targeting thermalbuffering application in food packaging. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and transmissionelectron microscopy (TEM) characterizations confirmed the successful functionalization of CuNPs andtheir existence in the PDVB shell. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) results indicated that producedmicrocapsules exhibited well-defined core–shell microstructure with spherical morphology, and theircompositions and chemical structures were confirmed by a series of spectroscopic characterizations. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) results showed that average and mean square roughness is higher inCuNPs/microPCMs than bare microcapsules. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analysis confirmedthat microPCM with 1.0% CuNPs achieved a maximum melting enthalpy of 132 J/g with an encapsulationratio of 60.5% and could maintain it even after 100 melting-freezing cycles. The thermal conductivity wassignificantly increased by 319.5% as compared with that of bare microcapsules. Most importantly, optimizedmicrocapsules provided an excellent thermal buffering effect of more than 6.5 h for the 240 g ofchocolate to raise its temperature from 5 C to 35 C, confirming great potential in food packagingapplication.

        Monitoring Osseointegrated Prosthesis Loosening and Fracture using Electrical Capacitance Tomography

        A noncontact, noninvasive, electrical permittivity imaging technique is proposed for monitoring loosening of osseointegratedprostheses and bone fracture. The proposed method utilizes electrical capacitance tomography (ECT), whichemploys a set of noncontact electrodes, arranged in a circular fashion around the imaging area, for electrical excitations andmeasurements. An inverse reconstruction algorithm was developed and implemented to reconstruct the electrical permittivitydistribution of the interrogated region from boundary capacitance measurements. In this study, osseointegratedprosthesis phantoms were prepared using plastic rods and Sawbone femur specimens, which were subjected to prosthesisloosening and fracture monitoring tests. The results demonstrated that the spatial location and extent of prosthesis looseningand bone fracture could be estimated from the ECT reconstructed permittivity maps. The resolution of the reconstructedimages was further enhanced by a limited region tomography algorithm, and its accuracy in terms of identifyingthe severity, location, and shape of bone fracture was also investigated and compared with conventional full regiontomography.

        Exploring groundwater potential zones using MIF technique in semi-arid region: a case study of Hingoli district, Maharashtra

        In this paper, an attempt has been made to delineate groundwater potential zones in Hingoli district, Maharashtra, India. Remote sensing and traditional data were collected from different sources and analysed in GIS software to prepare thematic maps of different geo-environmental factors such as lithology, drainage, lineaments, slope etc. as these factors having an impact on groundwater availability of an area, directly or indirectly. All these factors have been integrated into GIS software and multi influence factor method was applied to delineate groundwater potential zones. The result has shown about 50% area is having the good potentiality of groundwater, whereas about 6% region falls under very low potential area. The Central part of the study area is having very low groundwater potential, mainly due to the steep slope and rocky outcrop. The southern part of the Hingoli district has shown good groundwater potential, because of the gentle slope which influences water to infiltrate. All the major towns and villages are located in good groundwater prospect areas. Therefore, these locations do not experience extreme drought conditions. The present work is valuable for future planning and management of groundwater resource in Hingoli district.

      • The Value of FinTech for Retail Consumers

        We study the value of FinTech for retail consumers from individual overseas remittances on a FinTech platform. The value of FinTech mostly comes through overcoming various frictions such as high cost or time/spatial constraints of transaction. Using detailed transaction-level overseas remittance data from a leading FinTech rm in Korea, we nd that the FinTech platform lowers remittance cost by 10.6% on average compared to tra- ditional commercial banks. However, we nd mixed results regarding the time/spatial exibility provided by the FinTech platform that it may not always lead to the optimal timing of remittance transactions. While the FinTech platform can enhance consumer welfare by allowing constraint-free transactions with some advanced features in the plat- form, the exibilities can also harm consumers by amplifying their behavioral bias.
