This paper describes a new method for the moving object detection using the IMU sensor and instance image segmentation. In the proposed method, the feature points are extracted by the detector, and the initial fundamental matrix is calculated from the IMU data. Next, the epipolar line is used to classify the extracted feature points. From the background feature point matching, fundamental matrix is calculated iteratively to minimize the error of classification. After the feature point classification, image segmentation is used to enhance the quality of the classification result. The proposed method is implemented and tested with real-world driving videos, and compared with the previous works.
3D depth map estimation using ToF-Stereo sensor fusion
Sukwoo Jung(정석우),Yunju Lee(이윤주),KyungTaek Lee(이경택) 한국통신학회 2021 한국통신학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2021 No.6
High quality depth maps are required in various applications including robotics, computer vision, and autonomous driving. In order to obtain precise depth information, there has been an increasing interest in the combination of different depth sensors. Depth information can be acquired real-time by Time-of-Flight (ToF) cameras and stereo cameras. There are various Depth-Stereo fusing methods to overcome the limitations of a single depth sensor, including Conditional Cost Volume Normalization algorithm. The CCVNorm framework is generic and closely integrated with the cost volume component that is commonly utilized in stereo matching neural networks. In this paper, we give an overview over methods for the fusion of depth and passive stereo data. We experimentally evaluate the performance and robustness of various Depth-Stereo fusion methods with the KITTI Stereo and Depth Completion datasets.
A Case of Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Assessments of Fitness for Work
Sukwoo Hong,Yewon Kim,Ji-Young Ryu,Sangyoon Lee,Byung-Chul Son,Chae-Kwan Lee,Dae-Hwan Kim 대한직업환경의학회 2014 대한직업환경의학회지 Vol.26 No.-
Background: Obstructive sleep apnea is a common sleep disorder that can cause excessive daytime sleepiness and impairment of cognition. These symptoms may lead to the occurrence of occupational accidents in workers with obstructive sleep apnea. Case presentation: A 36-year-old man who worked as a dimensional control surveyor caused a vehicle accident while he was driving at the work site. Although he experienced loss of consciousness at the time of the accident, he had no other symptoms. His brain computed tomography and laboratory test did not show any specific findings. Medical tests were conducted to evaluate his fitness for work. Decreased sleep latency was observed on the electroencephalography image, which is suggestive of a sleep disorder. He frequently experienced daytime sleepiness and his Epworth sleepiness score was 13. The polysomnography showed a markedly increased apnea-hypopnea index of 84.3, which led to a diagnosis of severe obstructive sleep apnea. The patient was advised to return to work only when his obstructive sleep apnea improved through proper treatment. Conclusion: Proper screening for obstructive sleep apnea among workers is important for preventing workplace accidents caused by this disorder, but screening guidelines have not yet been established in Korea. An effort toward preparing practical guidelines for obstructive sleep apnea is needed.
The System of City Planning and Development in North Korea
Sukwoo Yang,Dongwha Kwack 대한건축학회 2014 Architectural research Vol.16 No.3
South and North Korea, the divided nations on the Korean peninsula, began with the same modern city planning system, but following the adoption of different national ideologies?capitalism and socialism?, they established their own city planning system and developed their cities accordingly. However, the process of planning and developing a joint city of Kaesong Industrial Complex (KIC) led to the recognition about the need to bridge the differences and prepare for future joint development. This study examines North Korea’s city planning system by comparing the two Koreas’ systems, and identify the characteristics of North Korea’s city planning system through a case analysis of the KIC. By comparing two cases, we found two distinct characteristics of North Korea’s. The one is a tool for realizing ideologies and maintaining national system. The other one is that it is ideology-oriented system for the supreme leader and party while South Korea has control-oriented system for the public. We analyze the KIC case based on four pillars: planning system, development system and procedure, master plan, and use behaviors. Result of analysis shows that in KIC there are many socialistic features as we mentioned above in terms of planning system, urban design & structure, and use behavior even though a private enterprise-Hyundai Asan, in South Korea led the whole process. This study is meaningful in that it identifies the specific characteristics of North Korea’s city planning focusing on the KIC and is expected to serve as a baseline material to set the future direction for North Korea’s development.
Evaluation of Compression Characteristics of Guide Tube for Fuel Assembly Restoration
SukWoo Hong,MyungChul Park,SungGeun Kim 한국방사성폐기물학회 2023 한국방사성폐기물학회 학술논문요약집 Vol.21 No.2
Nuclear fuel assemblies are exposed to high temperature and high pressure environments underwater for long periods of time in a reactor, leading to deterioration of the assembly structure. These assembly consists of fuel rods, grids, a top nozzle, a bottom nozzle and guide tubes. In particular, the integrity of the guide tube made of Zircaloy-4 is a very important part in handling the assembly. In the Post Irradiation Examination Facility (PIEF), there are 14×14 Westinghouse STD assemblies that have lost their handleability due to the top nozzle being removed for damaged fuel rod test. To handle these assemblies, it is reasonable to use cut guide tubes whenever possible. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the irradiation embrittlement state of the guide tube before designing or manufacturing parts that can connect the top nozzle and the guide tubes. Therefore, in this paper, the location for installing the top nozzle-guide tube connection parts was selected in the height range of 3,460 to 3,713 mm, and guide tube specimens were made within that range. Offset strain was derived from the load-displacement curve obtained through compression testing to confirm whether the ductility of guide tubes was maintained. As a result, there was no significant difference in strength and ductility of the guide tube within the above length range. In addition, it was confirmed that the ductility was maintained enough to install the top nozzle-guide tube connection parts. Therefore, it is judged that there will be no problem even if the top nozzle-guide tube connection parts are installed in the guide tube to restore the handleability of the assemblies.
