백서 부분적 설절제가 하악골 성장에 미치는 영향에 관한 실험적 연구

이 연구의 목적은 부분적 설절제가 백서 하악골의 성장에 미치는 영향을 규명하기 위함이다. 생후 4주령의 웅서백서를 두 집단으로 분류하였다. 첫번째 집단은 대조군으로 사용하고 두번째 집단은 부분적으로 설절제를 시행한 집단이다. 이 실험동물은 부분적인 설절제 후 4주와 8주에 희생되었다. 부분적인 설절제 후 쥐의 하악성장변화는 건조 골표본에 의해 관찰되었다. 이 연구로부터 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 성장기 백서의 설절제는 하악골 자체의 형태에는 영향을 미치지 못하였으나 전반적인 하악골 성장의 감소를 초래했다. 2. 하악골 성장에 영향을 미치는 여러가지 요인 중 설은 백서 하악골 성장에 필수적인 요소이다. 3. 부분적인 설의 절제는 백서의 전체적인 성장을 변화시키지는 않았다. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the partial glossectomy on the mandibular growth of growing rats. Thirty one Sprague-Dawley rats four weeks old were divided into two groupes : the first group served as the control and the second group was partially excised in the tongue of the rats. The experimental animals were sacrificed at 4 and 8 weeks after partial glossectomy. The changes of the rat mandibular growth following partial glossectomy were observed biometrically from dry bone specimens. The findings were as follows : 1. Partial glossectomy of growing rat produced inhibitory effects on the growth of the mandible and did not change the original shape of the mandible. 2. Among the factors affecting mandibular growth, the presence of the proper tongue size was essential. 3. Partial glossectomy of the growing rats could not change general growth of the rats whole bodies.
Spinal Teratoma Concomitant with Intracranial Lipid Droplet Dissemination

A teratoma is a neoplasm that contains tissues originating from three germ cell layers at ectopic sites. The embryology of teratomas remains unclear. Teratomas are usually composed of cystic and solid components, and they are usually associated with syringomyelia. Cystic lesions of teratomas may rupture in a spontaneous, iatrogenic, or traumatic manner. Lipid droplets in the ventricles and subarachnoid space are rare. We managed a case of a spinal teratoma in the lumbar region in a 67-year-old man. He complained of nocturia, frequent urination, and difficulty in walking for 2 months. Radiographic imaging revealed a lumbar spinal intradural mass. Intracranial lipid droplets dissemination was also existed. The patient underwent surgery, and a diagnosis of mature teratoma was confirmed histopathologically. During the operation, the cystic portion of the intradural mass ruptured. During the hospital stay, the patient’s mental status declined. On radiological examination, slightly enlarged ventricle size was observed. Dissemination of lipid droplets within ventricles occurs because of spontaneous, iatrogenic, or traumatic rupture. Additional lipid droplet dissemination to the intracranial space associated with neurologic deterioration after a spinal teratoma surgery should be considered when iatrogenic rupture of the cyst portion occurs.

A 24-year-old male visited our hospital because of pain in both flanks. His biochemistry profile showed an elevated serum creatinine level and low serum uric acid level. History taking revealed that he had undertaken exercise prior to the acute kidney injury (AKI) event, and he stated that family members had a history of urolithiasis. His renal profile improved after hydration and supportive care during hospitalization. Although the patient was subsequently admitted again due to AKI, his status recovered with similar treatment. Since the diagnosis of the patient was familial renal hypouricemia with exercise-induced AKI, we performed genotyping of SLC22A12, which encodes human urate transporter 1. The diagnosis was confirmed by the detection of a homozygous mutation of W258X. We herein, report a case of familial renal hypouricemia confirmed by genotyping of SLC22A12, and review the relevant literature.
Trichophyton verrucosum에 의한 두부독창

We report a case of kerion celsi caused by Trichophyton verrucosum in a 4-year-old male. He presented painful, tender, indurated, boggy masses discharing pus on the vertex and occiput. Kerion celsi caued by T. verrucosum was diagnosed by the characteristic gross and microscopic findings of the colony on the Sabourauds glucose. agar. The possible source of infection was searched and wq found that he raised the cattles in his house. They had multiple, scaly, whitish plaques on the skin and T. verrucosum was identified from the hairs of the lesions. He had been treated with griseofulvin and prednisolone, and all lesions were cleared leaving partial alopecia in 2 months.

The purpose of this study, based on theories and previous studies, are to analyze the effects EVP, how they influence their job satisfaction and organizational commitment. The results of this study, Firstly, subordinate elements of EVP, great company, interesting works, self-development, wealth and compensation had meaningful effects on job satisfaction. Secondly, subordinate elements of EVP, great company, interesting works, self-development, wealth and compensation had meaningful effects on organizational commitment. Finally, In the relationship between EVP, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment, POS showed a moderating effect.

<P>Mitochondrial microsatellite instability (mtMSI) and mutations of mitochondrial DNA has been reported in cancer epithelia of carcinomas. However, mtMSI in cancer stroma has not yet been identified in human cancers. In this study, we attempted to determine if mtMSI occurs in the cancer stroma of sporadic colorectal cancers, and if the stromal mtMSI has any correlations with stromal nuclear MSI (nMSI) and cancer epithelial mtMSI. Nine microsatellite sequences within the D-loop and 5 coding genes for mtMSI, and 9 microsatellites for nMSI were analyzed in the microdissected cancer epithelia and adjacent stromas of 48 sporadic colorectal cancers. Overall, 23 somatic mitochondrial DNA alterations were detected in 15 cancer epithelia (31.2%) and 5 stromas (10.4%). The mutations consisted of 19 D-loop mtMSI alterations, and 1 missense and 3 framshift mutations of repeat sequences within the coding genes. All of the 5 stromal genetic alterations showed D-loop mtMSI. In regards to other MSI status, the stromal mtMSI had no association with stromal nMSI or epithelial mtMSI, either. These findings indicate that in addition to the cancer epithelia the cancer stroma harbor mtMSI, and suggest a possible role of stromal mtMSI in the pathogenesis of colorectal cancers. Furthermore, the data suggest that stromal mtMSI may occur independently of stromal nMSI and epithelial mtMSI in sporadic colorectal cancers. © 2006 Wiley-Liss, Inc.</P>
