We report on a case of post-burn contracture and right foot deformity in a 37-year-old female who underwent two surgical interventions at the age of seven years. The patient remained well without any associated problems until she presented to our hospital at the age of 37 years with severe pain and right foot deformity. A few treatment modalities have been reported, and amputation has been suggested as the best approach. However, our patient was treated with a talonavicular arthrodesis and a soft tissue procedure, which resulted in a stable, plantigrade, and pain-free foot with an unsupported, bipedal gait.

Objective: To determine incidence rates of uterine clear cell carcinoma among non-White USsubpopulations. Methods: Data from the United States Cancer Statistics and National Cancer Database from2004 to 2016 were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results: A total of 488,811 women were diagnosed with uterine cancer from 2004–2016. Of these, 73.3% were endometrioid, 6.6% were serous, 5.3% were carcinosarcoma, 1.4%were clear cell, and 13.4% were other. Blacks had the highest incidence rate of uterine clearcell compared with Whites, Asian/Pacific Islanders, and American Indian/Alaska Natives(0.59 vs. 0.31, 0.29, and 0.24, respectively). Overall mean age at diagnosis was 68.6 years, with the youngest age in Asian/Pacific Islanders compared to Whites, Blacks, and AmericanIndian/Alaska Natives (65.9 vs. 68.7, 68.6, and 66.3 years, respectively). Analysis of the Asiansubpopulation revealed significantly younger age at diagnosis in Vietnamese women (55.8years) compared with 72.4 years in Japanese, 68.6 years in Pacific Islander, 66.6 years inIndian/Pakistani, 65.9 years in Filipino, 65.8 years in Chinese, 65.2 years in Korean, and 63.7years in other Asians. Conclusions: Black women are two times more likely to be diagnosed with uterine clear cellcarcinoma compared with other races. Asians present at younger ages, with Vietnamesewomen most likely to be diagnosed at the youngest age.

This study aims to analyze the mediating influences of resonance-based self-attitude and brand credibility in a relationship between celebrity endorser credibility and celebrity endorser congruity toward brand purchase intention in the current dynamic business environment. It employs a quantitative research method and reports on a survey, using a questionnaire, including the population of consumers of various instant coffee brands in several cities in Indonesia. The number of respondents in this study was 432 people. The analysis was performed using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling and SmartPLS software. The analysis consisted of descriptive statistics, evaluation of the measurement model, evaluation of the structural model, and hypothesis testing. The results partially support the model developed. The findings suggest that the instant coffee product advertising in Indonesia needs to create brand messages focusing on the formation of resonance-based self-attitude from consumers to increase the influence of celebrity endorser credibility and celebrity endorser congruity, as well as the brand credibility towards the brand purchase intention. This study contributes to the marketing literature and the theory of planned behavior by providing empirical evidence on the relationship between celebrity endorser credibility, celebrity endorser congruity, resonance-based self-attitude, brand credibility, and brand purchase intention.
Aging Alters Hepatic DNA Hydroxymethylation, as Measured by Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry

Background:Aging is one of the most important risk factors for cancer. It appears that aberrant epigenetic changes might be a commondriver of aging and cancer. Among them are changes in DNA methylation and DNA hydroxymethylation. The 5’ carbon of cytosinesin CpG dinucleotides of DNA can be either methylated or hydroxymethylated. Like 5’-methylcytosine, changes in 5’-hydroxymethylcytosinemay occur due to aging, potentially leading to downstream changes in transcription and cancer development. Methods:We set up a method to measure 5’-methyl-2’-deoxycytidine and 5’-hydroxymethyl-2’-deoxycytidine in DNA using liquidchromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS-MS) and used this method to measure the percentage of total cytosine that was eithermethylated or hydroxymethylated in the liver tissues of young and old C57Bl/6 male mice. The DNA was enzymatically hydrolyzed bysequential digestion with nuclease P1, phosphodiesterase I and alkaline phosphatase. The isotopomers [15N3]-2’-deoxycytidine and(methyl-d3, ring-6-d1)-5-methyl-2’-deoxycytidine were added to the DNA hydrolysates as internal standards. DNA methylation andhydroxymethylation were calculated as a percentage of total deoxycytidine in genomic DNA. Results:Within day variations for DNA methylation and hydroxymethylation were 3.45% and 8.40%, while day to day variations were6.14% and 17.68%, respectively. Using this method it was determined that hepatic DNA of old mice had increased levels ofhydroxymethylation relative to young (0.32 ± 0.02% vs. 0.24 ± 0.01%, P= 0.02), with no significant changes in 5’-methylcytosine. Conclusions:DNA hydroxymethylation measured by LC/MS-MS method can be a novel biomarker of aging. It will be useful to investigatethe potential role of DNA hydroxymethylation in the development and prevention of age-associated cancer.

One of key issues for online service providers due to the increased competition is “churn” or customer movement in and out of the marketplace. Although many studies were conducted to study user‟{s switching behavior on various online services (web browsers, blogs, etc.), only a few studies were made regarding the switching behavior of users in social networking sites (SNSs). Considering the widespread use of SNSs around the world and the sudden shift of Filipino SNS usage from Friendster to Facebook, this paper examines five possible factors that should affect the user‟s intention and behavior to switch from one SNS to another. An exploratory interview was done to 15 Filipino students to create ideas for possible factors affecting SNS users and scales from previous studies were used to make the survey questionnaire. A pilot test was then conducted to 20 Filipino students and appropriate modifications on the items were made from the results. Finally, the survey was distributed online through Facebook messages and emails.
Late Seroma in Breast Implants: A Coronavirus Disease 2019 Phenomenon?
Stephanie L.S Chan,James Wan Loong Mok 대한성형외과학회 2022 Archives of Plastic Surgery Vol.49 No.5
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has been challenging in all aspects of the medical field with new clinical presentations constantly arising. Plastic surgeons are not immune to this and need to be aware of their implications. There has been a recent report of late periprosthetic seroma (breast implant) as a clinical manifestation of COVID-19 infection. To our knowledge, this phenomenon has not been further reported. We present a 53-year-old immunocompromised lady who developed late seroma after COVID-19 infection. She eventually required explantation of the implant and is awaiting autologous reconstruction. It is likely that we will increasingly continue to see this phenomenon of implant complications as a result of COVID-19 infection and should be watchful, especially regarding potential immunocompromised patients.
