A facile, seed-mediated preparation method of trimetallic Au@Pb@Pt core-shell nanoparticles is developed. Au nanoparticles are the template seeds onto which sequentially reduced Pb and Pt are deposited. The trimetallic core-shell structure is confirmed by UV-Vis spectroscopy, TEM and EDS analysis, and cyclic voltammetry. The trimetallic Au@Pb@Pt core-shell nanoparticles show high electrocatalytic activity for formic acid and methanol electrooxidation.
Production of bio-epoxide and bio-adhesive from non-edible oil

Epoxidation of Nahor oil was performed by H2O2 in the presence of acid catalyst at 50 oC. It was possible to obtain around 70% epoxide yield within 8 hrs of reaction. Amberlite IR 120H showed better epoxide yield compared to H2SO4 and Dowex 50 WX8. The performance of carboxylic acids was found to be in the order of formic acid>acetic acid>propanoic acid. The curing of epoxidized nahor oil involved using ethylenediamine (EDA) and diethylenetriamine (DETA). The adhesive property of the cured resins was tested and compared with commercially available glue. The force required to detach the cardboard joint was about 36.3 N for DETA-cured resin.

<P>We investigated mosaic Si solar cells formed by e-beam deposited GaAs and ITO thin films. The mosaic structure in the nanotextured cell was formed by two parallel junctions of n-Si/ITO and n-Si/n-GaAs/ITO. In general, area of the nanotextured Si surface is very large and the loss of electrons is dominant at the surface. The nanotextured mosaic structure enhanced the surface passivation and the interfacial conduction of electrons. The mosaic cells also showed low photoreflectance in the visible/IR region. Quantum efficiencies of the nanotextured mosaic cells were lower than that of the microtextured mosaic cell, but the quantum efficiencies of the all cells were enhanced at 860 nm due to the presence of GaAs. The nanotextured mosaic cells showed the enhanced fill-factors and conversion efficiencies compared to the microtextured mosaic cell.</P>

Measuring the Quality of Software on the basis of Time Gap and Quality Gap with Standard Model-II

While dealing with students in making their projects, we found that students are ready to cope up the standard software defined by standard body like IEEE/ACM. In this paper we have set the quality value of standard software on the basis of quality function for each month and comparing with standard software and software being developed. The novel idea of this paper is to calculate the difference in quality of the software being developed and the standard software which has been decided upon as the criteria for comparison. The system also calculating how much effort needed and what should be the speed of software being developed. This work is the second part of a Understanding the State of Quality of Software on the basis of Time Gap, Quality Gap and Difference with Standard Model, which moves towards practical implementation from theoretical foundation [1]. In order to obtain results we have used an indigenous tool for calculating the quality gap and time gap at a particular point of time and for the graphical representation of data, we have used Microsoft office 2007 graphical chart. For finding the mean, standard deviation, T value and P value, we have used SPSS version 16.

Purpose: Approximately 30% of children with chronic liver disease (CLD) are malnourished. However, proper assessment of their nutritional status is difficult. The subjective global nutritional assessment (SGNA) is a comprehensive approach that uses nutrition-focused history and examination, followed by grading of malnourishment. We aimed to study the prevalence of malnutrition in children with CLD using the SGNA tool. Methods: This cross-sectional observational study included patients aged <18 years with CLD. Nutritional assessments were recorded using SGNA tool. Conventional anthropometric measurements were performed and corroborated with nutritional status using SGNA tool. Results: A total of 85 children with CLD and mean age of 62 months were enrolled in this study. The prevalence of malnourished children according to SGNA was 34%; 22% were moderately malnourished and 12% were severely malnourished. We found statistically significant differences in anthropometric parameters among the three groups. A moderate degree of agreement was found between SGNA and weight-for-age (W/A) (p=0.020), midupper arm circumference (MUAC) (p<0.001), and triceps skin-fold thickness (TSF)-for-age (p=0.029). Furthermore, a fair degree of agreement was found between height-for-age (H/A) (p=0.001) and weight-for-height (W/H) (p<0.001). The sensitivity of W/A for detecting malnutrition was 93%, H/A was 90%, MUAC was 86%, and TSF was 88%. The sensitivity was much lower for W/H and body mass index for age (55% for both). Conclusion: In our study, more than one-third of children with CLD were malnourished. Nutritional assessment using SGNA is a reliable method for evaluating nutritional status and is significantly correlated with common anthropometric measurements.
