Capital Heterogeneity, Industrial Clusters and Environmental Consciousness
( Sotiris Karkalakos ) 세종대학교 경제통합연구소 (구 세종대학교 국제경제연구소) 2010 Journal of Economic Integration Vol.25 No.2
It is shown in the context of a new economic geography that when capital is heterogeneous - degree of environmental sensitivity - trade liberalization may lead to industrial agglomeration and inter-regional trade. Capital heterogeneity gives local monopsony power to firms but also introduces variations in the quality of the match. Matches occur, under environmental consciousness assumption, giving rise to an agglomeration force, which can offset the forces against, trade costs and the erosion of monopsony power. A robust agglomeration equilibrium is derived analytically and shows that pollution can provide a motive for trade by spatially concentrated industries with environmental sensitivities.

Along with the increase of data and information, incremental learning ability turns out to be more and more important for machine learning approaches. The online algorithms try not to remember irrelevant information instead of synthesizing all available information (as opposed to classic batch learning algorithms). In this study, we attempted to increase the prediction accuracy of an incremental version of Naive Bayes model by integrating instance based learning. We performed a large-scale comparison of the proposed method with other state-of-the-art algorithms on several datasets and the proposed method produce better accuracy in most cases.

Based on the notion of $q_k$-derivative introduced by the authors in \cite{TN}, we prove in this paper existence and uniqueness results for nonlinear second-order impulsive $q_k$-difference equations with anti-periodic boundary conditions. Two results are obtained by applying Banach's contraction mapping principle and Krasnoselskii's fixed point theorem. Some examples are presented to illustrate the results.
A uW-Power Continuous-Time Current-Mode Filter in a Digital CMOS Process
Bantas,Sotiris,Papananos,Yannis 대한전자공학회 1997 ICVC : International Conference on VLSI and CAD Vol.5 No.1
A continuous-time low pass VHF filter operating in current-mode was designed. A recently proposed design technique was chosen for its low power characteristics. The 3rd order Chebyshev filter was implemented in a 0.5㎛ CMOS digital process. A temperature-independent frequency tuning scheme was adopted. Capacitors were laid out using the available metal and polysilicon layers. Experimental results show a consumption of 180 ㎼ per pole. The filter is intended for current-mode baseband processors in communications circuits.

Dorsalis pedis artery (DPA) aneurysms are very rare and fewer than 60 cases have been reported in the literature. Most affected patients present with false aneurysms after orthopedic surgery or trauma. Here we report an unusual case of a giant DPA pseudoaneurysm after cannulation for arterial line placement in a patient newly diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). A diagnostic delay resulted in necrosis of the overlying skin. Excision of the pseudoaneurysm, ligation of the DPA, and debridement of the foot dorsum were performed, followed by a second flap coverage surgery. Although a DPA false aneurysm is rare after arterial line removal, it can cause the serious complications of skin necrosis, rupture and toe necrosis. Arterial puncture sites should be carefully monitored, especially in patients with SLE or other vasculitis.
Nonlocal boundary value problems for Hilfer fractional differential equations
Suphawat Asawasamrit,Atthapol Kijjathanakorn,Sotiris K. Ntouyas,Jessada Tariboon 대한수학회 2018 대한수학회보 Vol.55 No.6
In this paper, we initiate the study of boundary value problems involving Hilfer fractional derivatives. Several new existence and uniqueness results are obtained by using a variety of fixed point theorems. Examples illustrating our results are also presented.
Sustainable concrete mix design for a target strength and service life
Julia G. Tapali,Sotiris Demis,Vagelis G. Papadakis 사단법인 한국계산역학회 2013 Computers and Concrete, An International Journal Vol.12 No.6
Considering the well known environmental issues of cement manufacturing (direct and indirect levels of CO2 emissions), clinker replacement by supplementary cementing materials (SCM) can be a very promising first step in reducing considerably the associated emissions. However, such a reduction is possible up to a particular level of SCM utilization, influenced by the rate of its pozzolanic reaction. In this study a (4-step) structured methodology is proposed in order to be able to further adjust the concrete mix design of a particular SCM, in achieving additional reduction of the associated levels of CO2 emissions and being at the same time accepted from a derived concrete strength and service life point of view. On this note, the aim of this study is twofold. To evaluate the environmental contribution of each concrete component and to provide the best possible mix design configuration, balanced between the principles of sustainability (low environmental cost) and durability (accepted concrete strength and service life ). It is shown that such a balance can be achieved, by utilising SCM by-products in the concrete mix, reducing in this way the fixed environmental emissions without compromising the long-term safety and durability of the structure.
