In conclusion, this paper proposes that in the 21s1 century we human beings should speak in partnership with one anther without any obstacle as the Spirit gives all of us utterance, filled with the Holy Spirit, as found in the Day of Pentecost.         Integrative L2 Grammar Teaching Using Grammar-Based Task Approach

        이 연구는 영어를 외국어로 학습하는 환경에서 영어를 학습할 때 어떻게 하면 문법을 효율적으로 습득할 수 있는지에 관한 고찰을 목적으로 한다. 근래에 들어 외국어 환경에서 영어문볍학습은 상대적으로 그 중요성이 덜 강조되어 오고 있는 추세이다. 이것은 이전의 문법위주의 영어학습 방법에 대한 비효율성의 실망감에서 기인했을 것이다. 외국어로서 영어의 습득에서 정확성이 먼저일까? 아니면 유창함이 먼저일까? 이 질문이야 말로 외국어로서 영어를 가르치는 근본적인 출발점이라 할 수 있다. 분명 한국의 전통적 영문법 교육은 그 한계가 분명해 보였다. 모든 문법을 외재적으로 습득하고도 학습자들은 자연스러운 발화가 전혀 이루어지지 않은 사례가 너무 많기 때문이다. 그렇다고 해서 외국어환경에서 직접적 문법을 학습시키지 않고 자연스러운 습득을 기다리는 것도 그 한계가 분명 해 보인다. 내국인 없는 원어민만의 수업으로 완전한 영어습득이 가능해 보이지 않기 때문이다. 본고에서는 외재적 문법설명보다는, 의사소통적 교수법의 틀 안에서, 학습자들이 스스로 문법을 깨 닳게 만드는 Grammar-Consciousness-Raising Task (GCRT)를 통해서 학습할 때, 다른 TBA (Task Based Approach)와의 차이점을 알아보고 그 효율성에 대하여 고찰해 본다. GCRT는 외국어의 환경에서 매우 효과적인 방법임에는 분명해 보인다. 하지만 주어진 주제에 대해 말하고 싶어 하지 않는 학습자 들이나, 기초적인 대화조차 할 수 없는 초보자들에게는 적합하지 않는 단점도 알 수 있었다.

        대추나무 미친병에 관한 연구 (1) - 이병식물의 (罹炳植物) 내외형태학적 특징 및 그 명명에 대해서 -

        HONG, Soon-Woo, & KIM, Chong-Chin: A study of virus disease on chinese date tree (I). On the external and the internal morphogical characteristics of disease inrected plants. Kor. Jour. Bot. 3 (1). 32-38. 1960 Since the peeuliar virus disease of chinese date tree (Zizyphus jujuba Mill. var. inermis Rehd.) has been noted in South Korea around 1950, 70% to 80% of the economically important trees have been either completely destroyed or infected with the virus, severe damage has been noted, particularly, across the area ranged from middle east to the middle part of Korea, including Seoul area. Yoon,-Koock-Byung in 1958 first reported the disease and described it might be caused by a kind of yellows. But he did not conform in his paper that the disease is pecisely caused by yellows virus. The authors, hereby intend to identify the true cause of the disease of the chinese date tree by studying the external symptoms of the disease and the internal morphological characteristics of the diseaset plant which shows various abnormalities in contrast to the healthy checks. In view of fact that the leaves of the infected plants become yellowish in color similar to the peach yellows, aster yellows, it is likely to be identifiable as the common yellows. Furthermore, the abnormal characteristics observed by the authors are as follow: The floral organs such as petals, sepald, stamens, and pistil turn into vegetative leaves, the leaves on heavily infected plant appear as small sized one and also showing as a common witch`s broom like symptom. There are also an occuring of numerous advantitious shoots developed from both of stems and roots. The amount of photosynthetc starch grains increses iIn parenchymatous cells, necrosis takes place in mesophyll, Partlcularly, Palisade Parenchyma in the leaves of infected plants are distinguished in contrast to the healthy checks. From the symptoms and the present experiments described above, the authors are belived that the disease of chinese date tree is not caused by the yellows. It appears the disease is rather similar to the symptoms of sandal spike virus which was noted in India early in this centry. But the host plant of sandal disease, Santalum album L. and the insect vector, Jassus indicus Wal., have never been reported in Korean flora and the founa. The temperature and the other environmental factors is auite different Korea ard India. Thus the authors believe that the peculiar disease must be an endemic new virus origin in Korea and must be called as shoot cluster disease of chinese date tree.

      • Developmental characterization of embryo size mutant in rice (Oryza sativa L.)

        In this experiment, three kinds of mutations(ge, re, and eml )relating to the size of embryos were used to study their generation, genetic mechanism and developmental characteristics, and the interactions between embryo and endosperm were also examined. Giant embryo mutation comprises 7 kinds including the already isolated ge, and ge-2, which share an identical gene site. The SAM and the size of radicule for the ge showed little difference compared to a normal type. The number of embryo cells did not increased as much as it would affect the size of embryo. Therefore, the enlargement of embryo was due to the enlargement of scutellum that originated from the corpulence of each cell. Both F$_1$ 수식 이미지 s of re ]and odm 49 formed reduce embryos, and other combinations of hybridization showed all wild type of embryo sizes. Accordingly, the odm 49 must have an identical gene site of re 1, while odm 48 and odm 62 have different gene sites. Their shoots and radicules also shrank by the same ratio, however no sign of physical change was noticed. The size of embryo cell showed no change, while the number of cells was the half of that of wild types. The three gene sites of re represent all of them control the size of the entire embryo forming organs. The eml 1 was defined to have temperature sensibilities that the generation of endosperms was active at a high temperature while that was hampered at a low temperature.

        Virus 에 감염된 대추나무의 이병엽과 (罹炳葉) 건전엽에 (健全葉) 있어서의 유리 (遊離) amino 산의 정성적 비교

        Hong, Soon-Wooe and Yung-Chil, Hah (Dept. of Botany, Seoul National University, Seoul, Kerea.) A compantive investigation of free amino acids in healthy and virus diseased Chinese date tree. Kor. Jour. Bot. 4 (1)9~12 1961 : A comparative investigation of free amino acids content in healthy check and virus diseased leaves of Chinese date tree, Zizyphus jujuqa Mill var. inermis Rhed, was carried out by authors throughout the growing season of 1959 and 1960 from June to October. The methods of qualitative analysis of free amino acids applied in this experiment is followed by Moore and Stein.^(1.2). free amino acids determined in this experiment are shown in Fig. 1 and Table 1. As the figure and the table are shown, three more amino acids such as glutarmine, asparagine and histidine are detected in the diseased material. The additiolal amino acids which are known as diamines in diseased leaves are conspicuous. It is presumed that the diamine might be increased by the self-reproduoion of the virus in cooporation with certain enzymes which are carrying out the protein metabolism in the host protoplast in contrast with the healthy checks which is carrying out normal protein metabolism,^(3.4.5). From the histological point of view, the facts of phloem degeneration or necrosis in diseased leaves, it seems to interrupt to move free amino acids from roots to leaves and it possibly takes place an excessive productitn of NH_3 which is diaminated by the metabolism of nitrogen compounds in such conditioned leaves.^(6.8) Therefore, it is also presumed that additional diamino acids are accumulated in diseased leaves. There are no change of amino acids in both materials of this plant throughout the growing season qualitatively, and this result agrees with the paper of Knight.^9

        대추나무 미친병에 관한 연구 (2) - 엽 (葉) 유관속구조에 미치는 해부학적 영향에 대해서 -

        HOHG, Soon-Woo (Kores U. Seoul. Korea): A study of virus disease on Chinese date tree (Ⅱ) On the anatomical effects of the shoot cluster disease on the vascular structure of the infacted plants. Kor. Jour. Bot. Vol.3 (2) 29-34 1960 From the view point of phytopathological anatomy, the author has tried to study the effect of the shoot cluster disease virus on the internal structure of vascular tissues of chinese date tree (Ziziphus jujuba var. inermis Rehd.) comparing healthy checks and diseased plants. The materials were collected at tht several sites, Kumgock-Ri, Masuc-Ri, Kyungi-Do, and near the campus of Korea University and around the area of Chongam-Dong, Seoul City, from August 15th to September 5th 1959. The leaf materials of healthy and diseased plants are fixed and aspirated in two kinds of killing solutions, formalin-acetic acid alcohol solution and Craf Ⅲ solution. Sections were cut at 5-10 μ thickness and stained with the double staining reagents of safranin and fast green. In this experiment the author has observed that there are marked structural changes in infected plants in contrast of healthy checks. As figures 3-7 show that the following characteric changes have taken place on infected plants: 1) the arrangement of irregularly developed sieve elements in phloem, 2) the degeneration of phloem elements, 3) the irregular arrangement of epidermis in mid-vein, 4) more necrosis is observed among the parenchymatous cells, 5) abundant accumulation of starch grains in parenchymatous cells,. In contrast to the above irregularities caused by the virus disease, the healthy checks appear normal structures as shown iu figures 1 and 2. In adding to the all features noted above, the author could also observe an interesting feature that the xylem elements in mid-vein vascular bundle tissues are considerably disorganized to show the unspecialized vessel elements, the irregularly arranged xylem elements. Hewever, this kind of irregularities which occur in xylem under the virus infection has not been reported previously. The features noted on the internal structure of vascular bundle under the condition of infection by the shoot cluster disease on chinese date trees appear to be more or less closely similar to the symptoms of the bunchy-top of banana and the yellow dwarf disease of barley in respect to the fact that whether phloem necrosis takes place as a primary symptom or a secondary symptom. In all these disease, primary histological changes of hypoplasia and hypertrophy are proceeded by the necrosis of phloem.

Kor. Jour. Bot. V (3) : 25-29, 1962. Succeeding the previous papers, nineteen species of marine green algae and three species of fresh water green algae are analyzed to the free amino acid patterns by paper chromatogram, and it has been described as containing significant qualities of the pattern in relation to phylogenetic studies. Those seem to have a tendency of recognizable pattern on inter-Orders and inter-Phyla of marine algae. And the patterns of fresh water and marine green algae are also carried out referring to these studies.

        상수(象數)원리를 정원구성에 적용한 용도서(龍圖墅)와 귀문원(龜文園)

        용도서와 귀문원은 홍만선이 저술한 『산림경제』 「복거(卜居)」 편에 실려 있다. 이 글은 하도(河圖)와 낙서(洛書)의 원리를 적용한 독특한 정원 구상안으로, 실제 조영된 바 없는 상상 속의 정원이다. 여기에는 두 정원의 모습이 구체적으로 묘사되어 있으나, 상수학에 대한 이해가 없이는 여기에 내재된 의미를 파악할 수 없다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 이 기록을 고찰함으로써 정원도해에 담긴 의미와 조경사적 의의를 밝히는데 있다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 이 글의 배경이 되는 저작 및 편찬자, 상수학의 개요를 살펴보았다. 또 하도와 낙서에 담긴 생수(生數)와 성수(成數), 음양, 사상, 팔괘도 등의 원리를 고찰하였다. 이러한 연구 과정을 거친 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 하도와 낙서는 우주변화의 원리 등 상수철학의 기본 명제들을 포괄적으로 추상화한 개념적 정의(conceptual definition)라 할 수 있는데, 용도서와 귀문원은 이를 정원구성 원리로 적용하여 거기에 담긴 의미를 구체적으로 경험하고, 반복 가능한 방식으로 설명할 수 있도록 한 조작적 정의(operational definition)라 할 수 있다. 이러한 시도는 중국에서도 전례가 없는 독특한 사례이다. 둘째, 하도와 낙서에 내재된 의미에 대한 조작적 정의를 구체화하기 위한 수단으로서 정원이라는 생활공간이 선정되었고, 하도와 낙서의 방위개념과 위치와 수 등을 재현하는 소품으로 태극정과 십자각, 돈대, 우물, 연못 등과 함께 각종 수목이 사용되었다. 셋째, 용도서와 귀문원은 각기 하도와 낙서가 표상하고 있는 선천과 후천, 체와 용의 관계를 주 모티브로 하고 있다. 즉, 용도서는 하도가 표방하는 우주생성의 원리, 정적이며 조화, 질서, 상생의 모습을 상징하기 위하여 ``십장청``이라는 상록수만을 식재하도록 구상하였다. 귀문원에는 낙서가 표방하는 후천의 변화 즉, 동적이며 부조화 무질서, 상극, 변화를 표현하기 위해 화목과 과목을 자유롭게 식재하도록 하였다. 이러한 식재효과를 통해 구현하고자한 두 정원의 시각적 이미지(image)의 차별성은 용도서에는 ``청상함``, 귀문원은 ``화려함``으로 함축된다. 하도와 낙서가 바탕이 된 상수학은 고대 이래로 오랜 기간에 걸쳐 다양한 학파와 여러 학자의 지혜가 축적된 동양의 독특한 사고 체계이다. 따라서 그 개념과 이론이 심오하고 방대하며 해석의 관점도 다양하다. 이러한 맥락에서 동양철학의 제반 개념들에 대해 보다 심층적이고 다양한 관점에서 고찰하지 못한 점은 본 연구의 한계이다. 추후 연구과제는 전통정원에 내재된 상수학 등 동양사상에 대한 보다 실증적인 연구가 필요할 것이다. Yongdoseo and Guimunwon are described in 「Bokgeo(卜居, fix abode)」 of 『Sanlimkyengje(山林經濟)』」 written by Manseon Hong. This record is a unique garden conceptual idea applying the principles of Hetu(河圖) and Luoshu(洛書), fanciful gardens which have not been actually constructed. Here, two garden types were concretely described respectively, however the underlying meaning therein cannot be apprehended without exact understanding about Sangsu studies. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to illuminate the meaning contained in Garden illustration and the historical meaning of landscape therein through considering this text. To achieve the purpose of this study, the writer and the compiler who are the background of this writing and the outline of Sangsu studies were investigated. Also, the principles of Saengsu(生數), Seongsu(成數), Yin Yang(陰陽), Four Bodies(四象), Palgwedo(八卦圖), etc. which are in Hetu and Luoshu were considered. The result of this study went through this research process is summarized as follows. First, Hetu Luoshu are conceptual definitions which wholly abstracted the basic propositions of Sangsu philosophy such as the universe change principle, etc., while Yongdoseo and Guimunwon can be said to be operational definitions which apply those as garden composition principle, enabling to experience the meaning contained therein concretely and explain it in a replicable way. This attempt is a unique example, unprecedented in China as well. Second, as a living space, garden was selected as a means to concretize operational definitions about the meaning of Hetu Luoshu, and as the property to reproduce the bearings concept, the location and the number, etc. of Hetu Luoshu, Taegukjeong(太極亭), Shipjagak(十字閣), Dondae(墩臺), well, pond as well as various kinds of trees were used. Third, the main motif of Yongdoseo and Guimunwon is the relation between Apriority(先天) and Posterior(後天), and the relation between Constitution(體) and Use(用) of Hetu and Luoshu respectively. That is, Yongdoseo planted evergreen trees such as Shipjangcheong(十長靑) in order to symbolize the universe creation principle which Hetu stands for, i.e. silent, harmonious, orderly and win-win image. In Guimunwon, flowering trees(花木) and fruit trees(果木) were planted freely to express the change of Posterior which Luoshu stands for, that is, dynamic, disharmonious, disorderly, incompatible(相剋) and changing image. The effects intended to be attained through such planting were, ``freshness and cheerfulness(淸爽)`` of Yongdoseo and ``splendidness`` of Guimunwon respectively. Sangsu studies based on Hetu and Luoshu is a unique thinking system to the Orient which came from the accumulated wisdom of several scholars from various schools through a long period since ancient times. Therefore, the concept and the theory thereof are profound and huge, and its viewpoints of interpretation are diverse. It is a limit of this study that more in-depth and various consideration was not performed. As a further research project, more empirical study of Orientalism such as Sangsu studies, etc. inherent in Traditional Garden is necessary.

        한국인 본태성 고혈압환자에서 Angiotensinogen M235T 유전자 다양성

        N/A Background: Potential involvement of the angio-tensinogen gene(M235T) in the pathogenesis of essen-tial hypertension has been suggested by some inves- tigators. However, an association between M235T gene polymorphism and essential hypertension has been reported by some, but not by others. Since genetic diversity exists among different ethnic population, we addressed the question of whether there is an association between M235T gene poly-morphism and essential hypertension in the Korean. Methods: 100 patients with essential hypertension and 100 control subjects were recruited from out- patients at the Department of Internal Medicine, Soon-chunhyang Hospital, Chunan City. The criteria for hypertension was defined as systolic blood pressure higher than 160mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure higher than 95mmHg. For detection of the M235T polymorphism at the angiotensinogen locus, the primer sequences were: sense primer : 5'-TGAAGGAG- AAGGTGTCTGCGGGA-3' and antisense primer : 5'- AGGACGGTGCGGTGAGAGTG-3'. The PCR product mixture was exposed to restriction enzyme Tthlll I and then submitted to electrophoresis in polyacryl-amide gel. Differences between the molecular variants of the gene in hypertensives and normotensives were com- pared by using the X²test. p<0.05 was considered statistically significant. The odds ratio and 95% confidence interval were calculated using Woolf's method. Results: Compared with the control subjects, hypertensives had higher values of three established risk factors for hypertension : age, BMI cholesterol (total and LDL). X analysis showed no difference in the distribution of genotype or allele frequency between the hypertensives and normotensives(X²=1.14, p=0.29). The crude odds ratio was 0.73 for CC over CT(95% confidence interval 0.41-1.30). The adjusted odds ratio with age, sex, lipid profilcs and BMI was 0.68 for CC over CT(9596 confidence interval 037-1,23). Conclusion : The molecular varient M235T of the angiotensinogen gene is not associated with essential hypertension in Korean population.
