Hepatic yersiniosis caused by Yersinia enterocolitica 4:O3 in an adult dog.

<P>A 2-year-old Pekinese dog was diagnosed with hepatic yersiniosis. Grossly, white-to-yellow nodules consisting of degenerated inflammatory cells, cell debris, and bacterial clumps were scattered throughout the liver. Histopathologically, suppurative and necrotizing hepatitis was apparent. Yersinia enterocolitica biotype 4, serotype O3 (4:O3) was identified and confirmed in the liver immunohistochemically, using a monoclonal antibody. The virulence genes ystA and ail were detected, but the isolate was negative for autoagglutination and calcium-dependent growth. To confirm systemic yersiniosis in animals, it is imperative that the organism(s) be identified because the hepatic lesions are similar to those of Y. pseudotuberculosis and other diseases, including plague, which is also a zoonotic pathogen.</P>

In this paper, deep trench etching of silicon was investigated as a function of source power (300~600 W), DC bias voltage (0~-100 V), O2 addition (0~29%). As increasing the RF source power from 300 W to 700 W, the etch rate was increased from 3.52 ㎛/min to 7.07 ㎛/min. The addition of O₂ gas improved the etch rate and the selectivity. The highest etch rate is achieved at the O₂ gas addition of 12%. The selectivity to PR was 65.75 with O₂ gas addition of 24%. At DC bias voltage of -40 V and C₄F? gas flow rate of 30 seem, We were able to achieve etch rate as high as 5.25 ㎛/min with good etch profile.

In vitro and in vivo antibacterial activities of DWQ-013(1-cyclopropyl-6,8-difluoro-7-(3-methylthiomethylpyrrolidinyl)-1,4-dihydro-4-oxo-3-quinolinecarboxylic acid), a new fluoroquinolone antibacterial agent, were compared with those of ciprofloxacin, sparfloxacin and ofloxacin against aerobic and anaerobic standard strains and clinical isolates. DWQ-013 had a broad spectrum and potent antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The antibacterial activity of DWQ-013 against Staphylococcus aureus was equal to that of sparfloxacin(SPFX) and superior to those of ciprofloxacin(CPFX). The antibacterial activity against Gram-negative bacteria was slightly lower than those of ciprofloxacin and sparfloxacin. MIC of DWQ-013 against Pseudomonas aeruginosa(0.781- 1.563mcg/ml) was usually equal to that of sparfloxacin(O.781mcg/ml) and was inferior to that of ciprofloxacin(O.098mcg/ml). The number of viable cells was decreased rapidly after addition of DWQ-013 at concentration of 1-2 folds of MIC.

Hypereosinophilic syndrome is characterized by persistent blood eosinophilia of 1,500/ul or more in the absence of known causes and multiorgan dysfunction by eosinophil-related tissue damage. In Korea, some cases of hypereosinophilic syndrome with hepatic involvement have been described with prolonged benign clinical courses. Most of them were diffuse or multifocal lesions in imaging studies, and a few case presenting as a single mass has been described. Here we report a case of hypereosinophilic syndrome with hepatic involvement in a 65-year-old man who presented with multifocal mass lesions. By abdominal US and CT scan, multiple, ill-defined nodules were detected in throughout the liver. Liver biopsy revealed severe eosinophilic hepatitis, suggestive of hypereosinophilic syndrome. Hepatic mass lesions improved after steroid administration for several weeks.

산업현장에서 수소는 설비를 손상시킬 수 있는 주원인 중의 하나이며, 종종 설비를 파괴시키는 사고를 발생시킨다. 수소손상에 의한 결정립계의 공동 또는 미세균열은 강재의 파괴인성과 강도를 떨어뜨리는 원인이 되고, 따라서 과거 제한적인 방법으로 수소손상을 평가하기 위한 시도가 수행되었다. 본 연구에서는 초음파를 적용하여 수소손상을 검출하고 평가하기 위한 연구를 수행하였다. 미세조직시험에 의해 확인된 시험편을 이용하여 초음파의 속도와 감쇠계수를 구한 결과, 수소손상에 의해서 초음파 속도는 감소하고 감쇠는 현저하게 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 수소손상을 검출하기 위한 신뢰성 있는 평가법을 제시하였다. The presence of hydrogen in industrial plants is a source of damage. Hydrogen attack is one such form of degradation and often causing large tube ruptures that necessitate an immediate shutdown. Hydrogen attack may reduce the fracture toughness as well as the strength of steels. This reduction is caused partially by the presence of cavities and microcracks at the grain boundaries. In the past several techniques have been used with limited results. This paper describes the application of an ultrasonic velocity and attenuation in hydrogen damage. Ultrasonic tests showed a decrease in wave velocity and an increase in attenuation. Such results demonstrate the potential for ultrasonic nondestructive testing to quantify damage. Based on this study, reliable recommendation is suggested to detect hydrogen attack.

General source location method that use an arrival time differences among sensor is restricted to the composite material and the complex-shaped material. In this study, a bundle-type acoustic sensor composed of 6 pinducers was utilized to determine wave propagation direction and then to estimate source location of the unidirectional GFRP. For the purpose of the study, slowness curve for the material was obtained and made an assumption that the incident waves on pinducers are propagated as a plane wave. According to the results, measured propagation directions of the wave was coincide with theoretical background, however, it was a hassle to determine the source location exactly. But, it is expected that bundle-type sensor gives more accurate results for zone location than generally used acoustic sensors.
전주산업단지 및 주변지역 VOCs 및 악취물질 모니터링(Ⅱ)

Important main odorous componds and VOCs(volatile organic componds) possibly emitted from the Jeon-Ju Industrial Sites were identified and measured in amount through making air sampling over Jeon-Ju Industrial Sites and analyzing them with the sate of the art analytical instrument. Sampling sites were chosen 8 points by considering the industrial characteristics for the 1,2 Industrial Sites and 2 points for the 3 Industrial. Site Sampling times were two times, the first was September. 2002, the second was November. 2002, and the third February. 2003. Canister sampling units and polyester bags were used to collect 6 liters air samples during 1hour or 3 minutes for VOCs and polyester bags were used to sample 10∼50 liters of air for 3 minutes depending on analytic characteristics of odor compounds. The important main VOCs were measured as ahexane(11.7ppb), 2-methyl(10.3ppb), methyl acetate(9.3ppb), methyl cyclopentane(7.2ppb), dichloromethane(5.2ppb), toluene(4.9ppb), m,p-xylene(4.8ppb), methanol(4.7ppb), M.E.K(methyl ethyl ketone : 3.9ppb), ethyl benzene(3.6ppb), n-undecane(3.6ppb), o-xylene(2.6ppb), 2-methyl hexane(2.6ppb), n-butylacetate(2.4ppb) as in oder of average concentration for the Industrial Sites. In the case of measurement ingredient for sulfur compounds, appeared by MM (N.d - 1.67ppb), DMS(N.d - 1.32ppb), DMDS(N.d - 1.76ppb). NH_(3) was measured as below the detection limit of the instrument. Among aldehydes, form aldehyde, acetaldehyde were detected very highly as 0.1- 1ppm over all the Industrial Sites.
