        자질 기하 이론연구

        유복순 대한언어학회 1997 언어학 Vol.5 No.1

You, Bok-Soon. 1997. A Study on Feature Geometry. Linguistics, 5-1, 211-227. One of the most important issues in the description of phonological phenomena is the problem of how to represent phonological representation., American structural linguists viewed phonemes as the smallest sound unit. But for the generative phonologists who are represented by Chomsky and Halle, the smallest sound unit is not the phoneme but the distinctive feature. In generative phonology, a phonological unit is a bundle of distinctiave features. They thought that the distinctive features are unordered and independent. They also assumed that there was only one phonological tier. In this linear phonological representation, some problems transpired. For example, there is no way to represent complex segments in which two articulators are involved simultaneously in the articulation. And also the linear phonology does not have any features to unify consonants and vowels as natural classes. In order to solve these problems, Goldsmith argued that segmental features and tonal features should be represented in two different tiers: one is the tone tier; the other is the melody tier. In non-linear representation, the phnological relation among distinctive features is not unordered and radom but ordered and hierarchically organized. (Hannam University)

        <남궁선생전>의 거리 두기와 전언적 특성

        권복순(Kwon, Bok-soon) 한국어문학회 2017 語文學 Vol.0 No.135

This article attempts to investigate the reading experiences of “The Story of Master Nam Kung” by focusing on how the narrative effectively conveys the core message, while maintaining the distance between the narrator and readers. During the process, I will be focusing primarily on the relationship between the readers and the story. In the story, there are many characters, however, the two main characters are considered important in my analysis. Though Master Nam Kungdu is the protagonist of the story, we should not ignore the significance of Elder Kwŏn (Kwon Changno), who appears in various episodes and scenes in the work. In analyzing the relationship between the narrator and the implied audience, I found that in the beginning the story is conveyed in “explanatory method,” but later it is changed to an “illustrational method.” Therefore, the distance between the narrator and the targets become closer as the story unfolds. Also, the perspective also undergoes changes from a subjective view to an objective view. By employing such devices, the story is adapted to represent the Daoist ideology. Although the story is in a written form, it was originally in oral literature. After the years of oral transmission, the story was settled in a form of written script. Therefore, the story is easy and rhythmical to read aloud. In addition, the story is presented with the layers of repetitive elements, and the storyline is easy to remember. On the other hand, in the scene where Elder Kwon and Master Nam encounter a devoted hermit, the author describes the hermit as a special character. In the mid Choson, when the Daoist and Buddhist ideologies were weakened, the author Ho Kyun attempted to take on Nam Gungdu’s voice to present his view on Taoism. There have been debates on whether the story is fictious or based on reality. However, it is found that the author actually met Nam Kungdu in person. The author not only recreates a historical character of Nam Kungdu, who has integrated the views on Confucianism, Buddhism and Daosim, but it also introduces the syncretic mode of indigenous thoughts and ideologies, as viewed in the preface “Nanlangbi” (鸞郞碑).

      • '대모신(大母神)의 정체성' 찾기와 여성적 글쓰기 : 페미니즘 시각으로 본 <혼불> Antifeminity of the Great Mother

김복순 명지대학교 예체능연구소 1997 藝體能論集 Vol.8 No.-

<Hon Bul>(fire of soul) is a roman fleuve by a female novelist Choi Myong-hee. I woude like to analize this novel from the standpoint of feminism. Korean novels whose themes are about family history usualy deal with the problems related to paternal line. However <Hon Bul> handles the problems concerning maternal line. Main contents of this novel is concerned with Lee family' s searching for identity by three women who were the first daughters-in-law consecutively during three generations. In <Hon Bul> all men are dependent upon women. On the other hand women have 'hon bul' (fire of soul) in their mind. Lady Ch' eongam, the first generation daughter-in-law plays the leading role in the searching for the identity of the family. She tries to be a guardian of her Yangban(noble class)family, wise woman, generous landlord, upright confucion scholar and patriotic hero. Her roles as a substitute for man are played very well. In this way she has the not only image of monoecism but also that of the Great Mother. <Hon Bul> is written in the structure of 'patchwork', and in the style of oral statement. In my opinion feminist literature often adopts this kind of structure and style. In this respect <Hon Bul> is feministic. However Lady Ch' eongam contributes to the strengthening of patriarchal system. She only pursued the values demaned by patriarchal and hierachical ideology. Therefore I feel like arguing that <Hon Bul> is antifeministic novel.
