        멀티미디어 온라인 게시판 Padlet의 학습 효과성에 대한 대학생 학습자들의 인식

        This study examines college students’ perceptions of the learning effectiveness of multimedia bulletin boards. Through various online bulletin board activities using multimedia, the research investigated how students perceived the learning effect of this type of online tool, Padlet. Fifty-four first-year students performed five different posting activities using Padlet and responded to the questionnaire about the learning advantages they recognized. Their responses were analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. The concepts of learning effectiveness of Padlet activities were coded and classified into three categories: emotional, cognitive, and social constructivist. Results showed that students mentioned emotional factors the most, followed by social constructivist factors. The students described that posting activities using multimedia increased their learning motivation; they could effectively share their thoughts with other students and better understand their peers’ideas. Their perception of the cognitive domain related to the improvement of language ability was the least. students are expected to improve the cognitive skills related to language learning if they are provided with appropriate activities according to learning topics.

        Differential Corporate Risk-Taking Behavior of Family Firms under Product Market Competition

        [연구목적] 본 연구는 제품시장경쟁이 기업의 위험추구 성향 및 기업의 성과에 미치는 영향에 있어 가족기업과 비가족기업의 차별성을 검증한다. 본 연구에서는 가족기업의 차별화된 대리인 문제와 지배구조가 제품시장경쟁에 대한 경영자의 위험 회피 성향에 차별성을 야기하며, 따라서, 제품시장경쟁 위험이 장기성과에 미치는 영향도 다르게 나타날 것이라고 기대하고 이를 검증한다. [연구방법] 2015년말 국내 유가증권시장 상장 기업을 대상으로 2005-2013년을 연구기간으로 하여 가족기업과 비가족기업을 분류하고, 산업 집중도로 측정한 제품시장경쟁이 기업의 위험추구 성향 및 장기성과에 미치는 영향이 가족기업과 비가족기업에서 다르게 나타나는지 다중회귀분석을 실시하여 검증하였다. [연구결과] 가족기업에서는 제품시장경쟁이 기업의 위험 회피 성향에 미치는 부정적인 영향력이 약화되고, 제품시장경쟁이 기업의 장기성과에 미치는 부정적인 영향력도 가족기업에서 더 약하게 나타났다. [연구의 시사점] 본 연구는 가족기업의 지배구조가 제품시장경쟁이 기업의 위험 회피 성향과 장기성과에 미치는 영향을 약화시킨다는 사실을 검증하여 위험에 대응하는 가족기업 지배구조의 차별적인 특성과 그 역할을 발견하였다는 점에 그 의의가 있다. [Purpose] This study investigates the different impact of product market competition over the corporate risk-taking behavior between family firms and non-family firms. We expect that differentiated agency conflicts of family firms would affect their managerial risk aversion attitude under greater product market competition. To confirm this, we examine their differential corporate risk-taking behavior and the impact on their long-term performance under the product market competition, compared to non-family firms. [Methodology] We use sample firms listed in the Korea Exchange as of 2015 and measure the product market competition with the Four-firm concentration ratio and the Herfindahl -Hirschman Index of an industry. Then, we estimate its effect on corporate risk-taking and long-term profitability for family firms and non-family firm by OLS regression. [Findings] Our results show that the negative impacts of product market competition on corporate risk-taking and long-term performance are weaker for family firms. [Implications] This study sheds light on the role of unique governance of family firms on corporate risk-taking and long-term performance under greater competition.

        High School Teachers` Needs for DDL Materials: Appropriate Amount of Concordance Input

        This is a companion paper to the previous study (Chun, 2015) on how to construct appropriate Data-driven learning (DDL) materials. As basic research for developing materials for low proficiency EFL learners, it presents the study by exploring high school teachers’ needs toward the materials, and is limited to appropriate numbers of citations when doing DDL activity in the classroom. Over the past decades, increased attention has been paid with regard to paper-based DDL materials for language learners. However, few studies suggest practical guidelines on how to develop the materials. This study particularly focused on teachers’ suggestions regarding an appropriate amount of concordance input, which is an essential factor in development of the materials. It followed 28 Korean high school teachers of English in order to analyze their needs regarding the developed materials. Data collected from the survey and follow-up interviews were used. Results reveal that teachers’ needs for numbers of citations were diverse and dependent on learning settings, e. g. for individuals or groups. They preferred more citations for group work and fewer for individual work. The study provides practical information for appropriate numbers of citations at least required for DDL activity in the secondary classroom.

      • Hepatitis B Virus Immunoglobulin Is Internalized in Hepatocytes via Endocytosis and Induce Auto-phagosome

        Purpose: Hepatitis B immunoglobulin (HBIG) is used long time for prevention of hepatitis B virus (HBV) recurrence after liver transplantation. The HBIG is thought to bind and neutralize with virions or particles which have hepatitis B virus surface antigen (HBsAg) in serum. But according to more recent studies, investigated in vitro HBsAg specific immunoglobulin G (IgG) is internalized in hepatocytes. And HBIG can clearance to HBV with endocytosis in Fc receptors for IgG (FcRn) expression cell lines. The aim of this study was to investigate further mechanism of intracellular action of intravenouse human hepatitis B virus immunoglobulin (I.V. Hepabig) and Hepabig-gene in sense of more specific interaction with HBsAg. With respect to its mechanism of action, Hepabig or Hepabig-gene can effectively promote passive immunization for individuals exposed to the HBV by binding to HBsAg and reducing rate of replication. Methods: The cell lines used in this study were: Huh7, HepG2, HepG2.2.15 (HBV-positive, HBsAg-positive) and PLC/PRF/5 (HBsAg positive). Human primary hepatocytes were isolated from resected partial liver. A variety of cell lines and isolated hepatocytes were exposed to 1) I.V.Hepabig, 2) recombinant Hepabig-gene and 3) Fab portion of Hepabig-gene for 1 hour. Confocal fluorescence microscopy was used to localize HBsAg specific IgG. Western blot analysis for the level of endogenous LC3 and HBsAg proteins was performed to identify autophage. Results: HBsAg was colocalized with I.V. Hepabig, Hepabig-gene or Fab type in the cytoplasm as a punctate pattern of immunofluorescence in HBsAg expression cell lines (HepG2.2.15 and PLC/PRF/5). I.V. Hepabig also localized in cytoplasm with HBsAg in isolated primary hepatocyte from HBsAg positive human liver tissue. Western blot analysis proved that I.V. Hepabig and Hepabig-gene treated hepatocytes accumulated more intracellular HBsAg than control, but not in Fab type of Hepabig-gene treated hepatocytes. Especially, LC3-II which is lipidation of LC3-I form was detected with just Hepabig-gene treatment samples. Conclusion: These results suggest that I.V. Hepabig and Hepabig-gene are present in FcRn expression hepatoma cell lines and primary hepatocytes by endocytosis and colocalized with HBsAg in the cytoplasm. Furthermore, the immunoglobulin-sAg complex induced autophgosom in the cytoplasm.

        Learners as Corpus Researchers

        The purpose of this study is to investigate how college students develop their cognitive skills through hands-on concordancing. It examines how students expand their cognitive skills by using self-access online corpus. It was conducted over a two-month period with 27 undergraduate students enrolled in a English Education course at a Korean university. After having lab training on online corpus/concordancer and corpus search, students undertook three corpus investigation tasks. They then submitted written reports after each task. Collected data are examined both qualitatively and quantitatively, with the mixed method, with reference to O’Sullivan’s (2007) descriptions of cognitive skills and concordance learning process by Kennedy and Miceli (2001, 2002), and Sun (2003). Results show the progress of the tested students using their thinking skills when completing three tasks and suggests that direct use of hands-on corcordanceing can help language learners expand their inductive thinking skills effectively.

        Rotor Blade Sweep Effect on the Performance of a Small Axial Supersonic Impulse Turbine

        In this paper, a computational study was conducted in order to investigate the rotor blade sweep effect on the aerodynamics of a small axial supersonic impulse turbine stage. For this purpose, three-dimensional unsteady RANS simulations have been performed with three different rotor blade sweep angles (-15°, 0°, +15°) and the results were compared with each other. Both NTG (No tip gap) and WTG (With tip gap) models were applied to examine the effect on tip leakage flow. As a result of the simulation, the positive sweep model (+15°) showed better performance in relative flow angle, Mach number distribution, entropy rise, and tip leakage mass flow rate compared with no sweep model. With the blade static pressure distribution result, the positive sweep model showed that hub and tip loading was increased and midspan loading was reduced compared with no sweep model while the negative sweep model (-15°) showed the opposite result. The positive sweep model also showed a good aerodynamic performance around the hub region compared with other models. Overall, the positive sweep angle enhanced the turbine efficiency.
