This paper describes the synthesis of a novel Ti-15Ta-5Zr alloy with an + β stable, homogeneous, biphasicmicrostructure (by optical microscopy, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy) and the determinationof its mechanical properties, hardness and a Young’s modulus of 42.2 GPa. The alloy passive film compositionand thickness were analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; a thick, compact native passive filmcontaining the protective oxides of all constituent elements (TiO2, Ta2O5, ZrO2) was identified. The electrochemicalparameters confirmed a nobler behaviour and a more capacitive, resistant passive film on thealloy surface compared to Ti and other existing implant alloys; these facts are due to the alloying elements that,by their oxides stabilize and reinforce the alloy passive film. This passive film thickened in time, which increased itsprotective capacity. The new alloy had no susceptibility to galvanic or local corrosion. Ti-15Ta-5Zr alloyis recommended as an advanced orthopaedic implant material.

The creativity of thesis is that the significance of cyber security challenges in blockchain. The variety of enterprises, including those in the medical market, are the targets of cyberattacks. Hospitals and clinics are only two examples of medical facilities that are easy targets for cybercriminals, along with IoT-based medical devices like pacemakers. Cyberattacks in the medical field not only put patients' lives in danger but also have the potential to expose private and sensitive information. Reviewing and looking at the present and historical flaws and vulnerabilities in the blockchain-based IoT and medical institutions' equipment is crucial as they are sensitive, relevant, and of a medical character. This study aims to investigate recent and current weaknesses in medical equipment, of blockchain-based IoT, and institutions. Medical security systems are becoming increasingly crucial in blockchain-based IoT medical devices and digital adoption more broadly. It is gaining importance as a standalone medical device. Currently the use of software in medical market is growing exponentially and many countries have already set guidelines for quality control. The achievements of the thesis are medical equipment of blockchain-based IoT no longer exist in a vacuum, thanks to technical improvements and the emergence of electronic health records (EHRs). Increased EHR use among providers, as well as the demand for integration and connection technologies to improve clinical workflow, patient care solutions, and overall hospital operations, will fuel significant growth in the blockchain-based IoT market for linked medical devices. The need for blockchain technology and IoT-based medical device to enhance their health IT infrastructure and design and development techniques will only get louder in the future. Blockchain technology will be essential in the future of cybersecurity, because blockchain technology can be significantly improved with the cybersecurity adoption of IoT devices, i.e., via remote monitoring, reducing waiting time for emergency rooms, track assets, etc. This paper sheds the light on the benefits of the blockchain-based IoT market.
Predictor-Corrector Type Multi-Rate Sample Hold for Continuous Estimated Outputs
정주노,Silviu-Iulian Niculescu,Frederic Mazenc 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2012 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.10 No.1
A novel predictor-corrector hold (PCH) that yields continuous estimates for all instances is proposed for multi-rate control systems. The principle, characteristic, and performance of the PCH are analyzed. Through a comparison with other conventional holds, the efficacy of the proposed PCH is validated.
Collision avoidance and path following for multi-agent dynamical systems
Ionela Prodan,Sorin Olaru,Cristina Stoica,Silviu-Iulian Niculescu 제어로봇시스템학회 2010 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2010 No.10
This paper deals with collision avoidance problems while following an optimal trajectory for a group of agents operating in open space. The basic idea is to use the Model Predictive Control (MPC) technique to solve a realtime optimization problem with non-convex constraints over a finite time horizon. Both centralized and decentralized MPC formulations are presented. In a second stage it is shown that velocity constraints can be added to the collision avoidance restrictions in the optimization problem. Following a specified trajectory, the agents move in the same direction and end up eventually in a particular formation. A primer ingredient in the control design is the generation of a flat trajectory, planned in the physical open space. This allows the agents to maneuver successfully in a dynamic environment and to reach a common objective.

Study Design: Retrospective single-center study.Purpose: This study aims to evaluate perioperative and intermediate-term clinical outcomes of patients undergoing different lumbar fusion techniques.Overview of Literature: Various open and minimally invasive techniques for lumbar fusion are available, but previous studies comparing lumbar fusion techniques have heterogeneous data, making interpretation challenging. Methods: Between 2011 and 2018, data from 447 consecutive patients undergoing one/two-level lumbar fusion were analyzed. Posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF) with bilateral muscle strip or Wiltse approach, open transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) and minimally invasive TLIF, and posterolateral fusion only were among the surgical techniques used. Core outcomes measure index (COMI) questionnaires were distributed before surgery and at 3 months, 1 year, and 2 years postoperatively to establish patient selfreported outcome measures. Demographic data (age, gender, and body mass index [BMI]) for each patient were also collected in addition to surgical indication, previous operative history, perioperative outcomes, and complications, and whether later revision surgery was required. Pearson’s chi-square test, Kruskal-Wallis test, repeated measure mixed-effects models, and ordinal logistic regression were used for statistical analysis. Results: Postoperative COMI scores improved across all procedures compared with pre-surgery (<i>p</i><0.001). There was no significant difference between different postoperative COMI scores. Significant predictors of higher postoperative COMI score included higher pretreatment COMI score (<i>p</i>≤0.001), previous surgery (<i>p</i>≤0.04), younger age (<i>p</i>≤0.05), higher BMI (<i>p</i>≤0.005), and the indications of lytic spondylolisthesis (<i>p</i>=0.02) and degenerative disc disease (<i>p</i><0.001). Patients undergoing minimally invasive TLIF had a significantly shorter post-surgery stay than patients undergoing open PLIF (Kruskal-Wallis test, <i>p</i>=0.03).Conclusions: At 2 years postoperatively, there was no significant difference in clinical outcomes between open and minimally invasive techniques. These findings suggest that the main determinant of surgical approach should be surgeon preference and training.

This paper addresses the “rade-off” between transparency and stability of some specific bilateral teleoperation systems including communication time-delays. Using a geometric approach, we derive a simple method to study the fragility of the proposed controller for a general 4-channel architecture for bilateral teleoperation with time-delays such that the closed-loop stability as well as the transparency are guaranteed for the overall scheme. Illustrative examples complete the presentation.

Maria KWolters,Aurora Szentagotai Tatar,Silviu Matu,Ramona Moldovan,Daniel David,Brian H McKinstry,Christopher D Burton 한국HCI학회 2014 한국HCI학회 학술대회 Vol.2014 No.12
Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is a chronic mental health condition that affects quality of life and morbidity. Help4Mood is a novel intervention designed to support the treatment of people withMDDin the community. It combines monitoring of objective symptoms such as activity levels and speech patterns with monitoring of subjective symptoms such as self reported mood and thinking patterns. Help4Mood was developed iteratively in collaboration with clinicians and people with depression. In this paper, we discuss our overall approach and present the results of four case studies where people with depression tested a near-final prototype of Help4Mood for two weeks.

Bogdan Liacu,Irinel-Constantin Mor?rescu,Silviu-Iulian Niculescu,Claude Andriot,Didier Dumur,Patrick Boucher,Frederic Colledani 제어로봇시스템학회 2012 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2012 No.10
This paper focuses on the stability analysis of Proportional-Derivative (PD) controllers for Multi-Input-Multi-Output (MIMO) systems affected by distributed time-delays. The time-delays will be approximated by the most common distributions (uniform and gamma with gap distributions). In order to provide practical guidelines for the design of PD controllers we describe the stability regions in the gains-parameter space using a geometric approach. Illustrative examples complete the presentation.
