        臺灣的高齡化社會與身分法的變動: 以成年監護及生存配偶之保障為中心

        Sieh chuen Huang(黃詩淳) 한국가족법학회 2015 가족법연구 Vol.29 No.1

This article attempts to illustrate the response of family and succession laws to population aging in Taiwan by analyzing the recent legal reforms of adult guardianship and marital property regime. To begin with, the new adult guardianship law enacted in 2009 aims to support the elderly to perform juristic behaviors, which is an improvement from the old interdiction as a result of the gradually increased number of users. However, the restrictions to an individual's legal capacity, in addition to the inflexibility to customize it according to his/her requirements, as well as the endowment of excessive power of guardian but with finite supervision may not conform to the standard of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. On the other hand, according to Taiwan's statutory matrimonial regime, the right to claim for distribution of the remainder of the property was first introduced into Taiwan's Civil Code in 1985. It comes in effect at the termination of a marriage due to divorce or the death of spouse. Therefore, in the case where the deceased spouse's individual gains is more than the surviving party, the deceased party (and his/her heirs) is obliged to pay half of the remaining property to the surviving person. Furthermore, only the remaining property left after the aforementioned claims can be divided equally among the spouse and children according to the rule of succession law. As a result, the total acquisition through the claim of remaining property and inheritance is sufficient to maintain a certain standard of living for the aged surviving spouse. As the marriage length varies in every couple, this method is believed to lead to a more reasonable and fair solution rather than solely adopting the rule of succession. Nevertheless, legislators and commentators in Taiwan have been experiencing a debate on the inheritability and transferability of the claim of remaining property. The entanglement has caused the Civil Code to be amended several times in the past thirty years, yet this issue hardly existed in court cases, showing there is still a long way to reach a consensus outcome. Finally, in addition to the aforementioned legal reforms, court cases also play a significant role in reconstructing family and succession laws to meet the needs of aging society.

Traditional Software Development for WLAN Propagation Model

Ibrahim Anwar Hassan,Ismail Mahamod,Jumari Kasmiran,Kiong Tiong Sieh The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers 2007 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.2 No.1

SPWPM traditional software development is surveyed and essential problems are investigated on the basis of system wireless link considerations. This paper presents the current state software planning tools for wireless LAN link optimization. The software directory is based on combination of MatLab and MapInfo software and measurement which gives the best grouping parameters to build up the software development. Among the requirements assumed, the WLAN site selections must be Line-of-sight (LOS) or near line of sight (NLOS) field strength prediction for either point to point or point to multi points. The results obtainable the out put of the program include two-dimensional (2D) and three dimensional (3D) plots for creating the link; design parameters through GUI representing the height and location for each antenna is depending on K-factor of the area and transmit antenna location.

Unlocking the potential of metal-organic frameworks-based mixed matrix membranes for hydrogen separation and purification

Nor Naimah Rosyadah Ahmad,Yang Lee,Mohamad Rezi Abdul Hamid,Tinia Idaty Mohd Ghazi,Rizwan Nasir,Choe Peng Leo,Siaw Paw Koh,Jagadeesh Pasupuleti,Sieh Kiong Tiong 한국공업화학회 2023 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.128 No.-

Membrane-based separation is a promising technology for hydrogen separation and purification due toits low energy consumption. Conventional membranes, such as polymeric membranes, often suffer frompermeability-selectivity trade-offs weakening their potential for challenging gas separations. Metalorganicframeworks (MOFs) with uniform apertures, high porosities, large internal surface areas, and tunablefunctionalities make them excellent fillers in mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) fabrication forhydrogen separation. This review evaluates current state-of-the-art MMMs performances, explores thechallenges in MMMs fabrication, and discusses current strategies in MOF-based MMMs fabrication andmodification aspects to enhance the membrane performance, specifically for H2/CO2, H2/CH4, and H2/N2 separation. Moreover, the hydrogen separation performance of MOF-based MMMs at elevated temperaturesand pressure and improvement in antiaging and antiplasticization properties are discussed indetail. The outlook and perspectives for MOF-based MMMs for hydrogen separation are also provided. This review offers insight into the potential of MOFs as porous fillers in MMMs fabrication for hydrogenseparation application.
